* DissonantSerenity: After beating the daylights out of Diego, Viscount Lacona's son, Lloyd tells Julian not to worry, as Diego can't bully Julian if Diego is dead. Julian is utterly disturbed out that Lloyd can say this with such a bright, happy expression.

* Cloudcuckoolander: He definitely seems pretty manic and weird to others with his loud demeanor, the strange faces he often makes, his modern sensibilities, and especially his System-based abilities that usually only he can see. Even beyond that, he has his moments. One of the first times we see the man finally take a break and relax, he's playing chess with himself while pretending to be two different people while shouting in frustration when he's losing. Against himself. When Javier tries to question this, Lloyd's face simply fills with sheer unhinged joy over not having to do any work for once.

* DissonantSerenity: After beating the daylights out of Diego, Viscount Lacona's son, Lloyd tells Julian not to worry, as Diego can't bully Julian if Diego is dead. Julian is creeped out that Lloyd can say this with such a bright, happy expression.

* ObliviousToLove: Justified. Lloyd has been rejected by countless women and often faced ridicule for his ugly looks. Naturally, it doesn't even occur to him that someone might have a crush on him, and the person is question is none other than [[spoiler:[[TheHighQueen the Queen Regnant]] herself.]]

* SummonMagic: Lloyd pretends to be someone capable of this in order to explain where the little familiars that help him out with construction came from, when in truth he used reputation points to purchase new familiars from the System. After the familiars are summoned into Lloyd's world, however, the familiars actually stick around permanently. Since the familiars are small, they tend to hide within Lloyd's clothing until the times come for him to bring them out.

** Javier was once a homeless vagrant after losing his parents before being taken in by Arcos, who gave him a home and a purpose. This is why he's forever loyal to Arcos and, to a lesser extent, Lloyd. Even when offered positions that would offer much better pay and prestige, Javier turns them down without hesitation even under threat of death.

* ChemicallyInducedInsanity: [[spoiler:Her descent into villainy as the "Dark Queen" in the original novel wasn't just caused by the trauma of betrayal, it was also caused by a side-effect of the poison itself, even after she forced most of it out of her body. In the new timeline, Lloyd and Javier's intervention reduces the effects and slows them down, but does not actually stop them.]]

* ManipulativeBastard: Lloyd. Constantly. He is always looking for the best way to make the best profit and he manipulates everything and everyone around him to get it.

** The powers it bestows on Lloyd via the RP system eventually allow him a degree of reality-altering powers, such as summoning his familiars despite lacking any skill with the magic, getting physically stronger whenever he wields a shovel, or [[spoiler:allowing others to see the holographic displays of his design projects in order to more efficiently construct without his oversight, and even creating holographic simulations of his NightmareFace to berate them for screwing up]]. Using this even allows Lloyd to [[InstantExpert instantly level up the circles of the Asrahan Core technique in minutes]] when it would take Javier months of training to do the same. However, it cannot aid Lloyd outwith that, and requires his input and decisions on how to spend his RP without being able to influence his choices.
