* SmugSnake: He oozes with cockiness despite not truly being a match for Dom.

* FauxAffablyEvil: He's oddly pleasant for a SocialDarwinist EcoTerrorist. He even calls Deckard his friend despite [[ArsonMurderAndJaywalking betraying him and [=MI6=], decimating their team, framing him for the murders, and destroying his relationship with his sister in the process]], all without remorse... Not to mention the fact that he's currently seeking vengeance upon Deckard for "shooting him in the head".

* {{Jerkass}}: Though compared the the rest of the big bads of the series, he's the least worst of them - compounded by the fact Takashi doesn't take [[spoiler: Han's death well despite the fact Han was skimming money from him.]]

* CardCarryingVillain: Outright admits his father was a horrible man, a "very bad daddy", but it doesn't change the fact that Dom and his crew had killed him and stole their money.

* AbhorrentAdmirer: Isabel is visibly uncomfortable every time he starts messing with her, [[{{Troll}} which is likely the point.]]

* LargeAndInCharge: He's played by the 6'4 and muscular Jason Momoa and is a leader of a major criminal organization.

* PsychopathicManchild: Records show that he already had unhinged and psychopathic tendencies since his teenage years and his father kept bailing him out of the crimes he committed even into adulthood. He always has a giddy and playful demeanour while carrying out his atrocities, seeing it all as a game he's playing. Ohms and he even blows raspberries at his enemies!

* MachiavelliWasWrong: Seems to believe this. He politely admonishes some associates for trying to use fear and violence to exert control because as their national history had demonstrated with the Spanish and Portuguese explorers, ruling with brutality incites rebellion, but those that offer mutual beneficence will have a much easier time maintianing dominance.

* PragmaticVillainy: Offers to provide worldly amenities such as running water and schools because he understands that if he tries to control people with simply fear and brutality, they will eventually revolt because they have nothing to lose.
* ScrewTheRulesIHaveMoney: Is a firm believer in this. He buys people with things they wanted and make sure that they'll need to work for him in order to continue receiving them, with him comparing his methods to that of the Portuguese winning the hearts of the native using gifts in the past that leads to all Brazilians speaking Portuguese in the modern day.

* SharpDressedMan: He favors tailored suits, as fits his image as a wealthy businessman.
* TranquilFury: [[spoiler:During his YouHaveFailedMe scene (detailed below), Reyes is clearly enraged about the loss of his money, but nonetheless remained composed and soft-spoken as he tamely observed the various items on his desk contemplating which one he'll use to ShootTheMessenger. After he bludgeons the man, Reyes doesn't break composure and simply pats himself off with a handkerchief]].

* SoleSurvivor: Often ended up as this.

* AxCrazy: Though more jovial and capable of actual human emotions (like love and even respect) than Cipher, he is no less dangerous as his impulse-control is just as nonexistent as hers. The temporary clinical-braindeath that resulted from having a 50-tonne steel-safe smashed in his face and the two minutes of drowning that followed only served to further warp his already twisted brain.

* CoolCar: American muscle. Unlike Dom's penchant for Chargers and Challengers, and Jakob's signature Ford Mustang, Dante prefers classic Chevrolets.
* CulturedBadass: Dante is an enthusiast of classical ballet, incorporating it into the madcap dancing of his bombastic theatrics, and outright citing the tragedy of ''Swan Lake'' as he is forcing Dom to choose which ally to save from twin-focused sniper-fire.

* JackOfAllTrades: In contrary to the usual trope, this is what actually makes him so hard to deal with. There were some of Dom's enemies who tried to outrace or out-CarFu him. Some tried to get the upper hand over him through technology. Some tried to threaten him to do their bidding through his family and friends. Some threw goons, guns, and political power at him. None, before Dante, has tried to do all this ''at the same time''. He's no faster, stronger, or smarter than Dom and his crew, but just GenreSavvy and cunning enough to cover all his bases, making it so difficult to pin him down.

* LargeHam: When he reappears a decade after his father’s death in Rio, he displays a bombastic and overly dramatic personality which contrasts quite a bit with Dom's stoicism.
* LaughablyEvil: As horrific as his actions are, Dante is by far the funniest villain in the franchise to date, and Jason Momoa is obviously having fun playing him.

* YouKilledMyFather: Blames Dom (even though it was Hobbs who killed him) for his father's death. [[spoiler: He makes it clear that Hobbs is on his hitlist, though.]]

* TheSociopath: He has no empathy for anyone but himself, will gladly backstab his allies when it's convenient for him, and maintains a [[FauxAffablyEvil amiable demeanor]] even as he's committing horrific crimes.

* AintTooProudToBeg: Shows visible fear and tires to surrender when he is truly helpless.

* KnightOfCerebus: LaughablyEvil moments aside, [[RoaringRampageOfRevenge he is hellbent on revenge]] [[YouKilledMyFather over the death of his father]] [[VilerNewVillain and he surpasses Cipher to become the greatest threat Dom and his team have faced, [[spoiler:with ''Fast X'' ending with him getting the drop on Dom and his son.]]
