She was occasionally visited by demigods who couldn't leave until she fell in love with them. The most recent of these was Leo Valdez, who has rescued her.

The son of Hephaestus and mechanic Esperanza Valdez, Leo had a happy childhood with his mother until her death. He is introduced as being Jason's best friend and BromanticFoil. He is ecstatic at the discovery that he is a son of Hephaestus, and takes great delight in the camp machinery. He's the one that manages to fix Festus the bronze dragon (from the ancillary story ''The Bronze Dragon'') despite it going haywire after Charles Beckendorf's death, and it's what he, Jason, and Piper ride on the quest to rescue Hera. Later, he is tasked with building the ''Argo II'', a flying trireme that will be the Seven's main vehicle for their journey to topple Gaea.

Leo is wiry, funny, energetic, immature, and upbeat. He has a tendency to fall in love fleetingly with any beautiful girl that crosses his eye. However he's also deeply insecure, stemming from his own past. Its implied he's not really good with people due to, like his father, being frustrated that they aren't as simple as machines, and even his own sense of humor is tied to his lack of self-worth -- he cracks jokes to not be overwhelmed by the negativity. The son of Poseidon, god of the sea, and clear-sighted mortal Sally Jackson. Has a CoolSword, Anaklusmos ("Riptide") and later becomes the third person in history to bear the Curse of Achilles.

Percy is one of two titular "lost heroes" for the first book of the second [[Literature/TheHeroesOfOlympus series]], but he's back in the second, amnesiac and running from monsters. He is brought by Hera/Juno to the Roman Camp, Camp Jupiter, and realizes that his destiny is far beyond being the half-blood mentioned in the last Great Prophecy.

She also doesn't have plenty of friends at school due to being a CoolLoser, and takes solace in Jason and Leo's company. She's understandably very shocked that she, Jason, and Leo only thought they were friends due to the Mist tricking them into thinking they were. Upon arriving at Camp Half-Blood Piper is claimed by her mother and immediately clashes with resident AlphaBitch and Silena Beauregard's successor, counselor Drew Tanaka. She despises fashion magazines, skirts, makeup, and other stereotypically girly characteristics shared by her siblings, leading her to feel out of place.

Because of her lonely background, Piper is fiercely protective of those close to her, and is very possessive over Jason. She's also insecure about their relationship and her standing among the Seven. However, Piper is willing to stand up to those who mistreat others, and is more than willing to stick her neck out for the rest of the team. She also displays remarkable empathy and is good at reading people. She slowly grows more confident in herself and in her powers over the course of the series.

Piper wields Katoptris, a ceremonial dagger once held by Helen of Troy. It shows her visions of the future and occasionally possibilities. As a daughter of Aphrodite, Piper is not that great in a fight -- however, she's also blessed with the very rare power of charmspeaking, which allows her to command people to do what she wants through her CompellingVoice. More than once, this is extremely useful to our heroes.
