Iouzan is a father of two sons and a potential successor to the throne of the beast world.

* AllOfTheOtherReindeer: When he first arrived in the beast world, many of the residents didn't want him there and kids his age would pick fights with him.

* LazyBum: He spends most of his screen time laying around, and has nothing better to do than hang out at Kunatetsu's place.
Kumatetsu and Hyakushubo also spend their days in much the same way, but the former trains hard and has ambition while the latter is a monk who dedicates himself to guiding others, and both do more to raise Kyuta. Tatara simply loves living without any responsibility or judgement, just passing time as he sees fit.

* LoserSonOfALoserDad: Jiromaru, and later Ichirohiko, mock Kyuta for being raised by Kumatetsu, an oaf and a laughingstock who can't defeat their own father.

* LikeFatherLikeSon: He begins imitating Kumatetsu mannerisms to learn swordsmanship, and living together they naturalky rub off on each other, but even at the start Kyuta/Ren was a stubborn, hot-headed loner with a chip on his shoulder, just like Kumatetsu.

* NiceGuy: Hyakushūbō has shown to be thoughtful, kind, and friendly.
