* LoopholeAbuse: During Leg 8, the teams were required to either find a man in a fishing boat or catch a fish, subject to a time limit. There was no rule that stated the fishing could only be done if you hadn't found the boat, so Shane decides to go fishing and ends up being the only person to complete the roadblock by catching the fish instead of asking random boats.

* BornUnlucky: {{In-Universe}}. In the finale, all three teams selected them as the "Unluckiest Team" in the opinion matching task for getting eliminated due to selling their possessions. Though it's up for debate how unlucky a team is for breaking a firmly established race rule. Though played straight in the first leg when they almost won the leg until their raft broke 100 meters from the Pit Stop

* LoopholeAbuse: During the Che Puzzle detour, there was no rule about not having other people help you finish the puzzle, so the twins end up inviting other people to help them finish the puzzle. Of course, Shane and Andrew (who are also doing the puzzle) catch on and start doing the same.

* LikeAnOldMarriedCouple: Subverted. After they got lost and they'd both had enough, instead of arguing with each other about who got whom lost, Kym simply walked away from Donna for a bit to cool down, then came back and hugged her, letting her cry. During this moment, a voiceover is playing where Kym admits that he didn't want to yell at Donna, he loved her to bits.

* ActionGirl: They finished outside of the top 3 only twice (the second time due to a time consuming LuckBasedMission horse racing task, which pushed them from a comfortable 2nd back to 4th). They were only the second female team to post a sub-3.00 finishing average (after [[Characters/TheAmazingRace11 Dustin & Kandice]]), and became the first female team to post the best finishing average on their season.

* CallBack: Joseph trying to spin in the Whirling Dervishes Roadblock in Leg 6 may remind you of [[Characters/TheAmazingRace13 Daniel]] in his Marching challenge.

Flatmates from Launceston, Tasmania, Sticky was born without a left forearm. They would quickly become a force to be reckoned with, as they managed a large number of strong finishes within the first half of the season. However, their strong race would eventually come to a halt when they missed a flight out of France to Cuba, and only the combination of Joseph & Grace's penalty and the leg being a double-leg would save them. However, they were eventually eliminated from the race for good when they had navigation issues in Cuba, getting lost while looking for the crocodile farm, and wound up 7th.

Cops, and one of the most surprising winners in the entire series. They did not start out well, in part thanks to terrible luck with taxi drivers in various countries, and would have several weak finishes throughout the entire first half of the season. They would improve greatly once they started travelling throughout the American continents, but still went into the finale as huge underdogs to Paul & Steve and Michelle & Jo. They would pull ahead of the other two teams at the opinion matching task, and pulled of one of the biggest upsets in Race history. One of the most likable winners in the series, and one of the teams who could probably put the money to the best use.

* OutOfFocus: Steve got hidden behind Paul's behavior a lot.
