* {{Cloudcuckoolander}}: Tammy often says some pretty odd things about the race. Her reaction to winning the race was that she had no pants on.

The 14th season of TheAmazingRace was called "a very unique season" by producer Bertram van Munster at the start of Unfinished Business. Other than cutting out most of the airport scenes that used to take up the first quarter of most episodes, it has the distinction of being the first season not to feature the usually ubiquitous couples teams among the top 7, thus presenting more unique team dynamics. However, the producers clearly wanted more inter-team conflict which was lacking in the previous two seasons and thus, among other things, stopped the traditional "eat, sleep, and mingle" Pit Stops mid-race, resulting in a cast that starts off friendly and suddenly becomes more cutthroat by the endgame. For better or for worse, this resulted in one of the most memorable, if polarizing, casts in the series, enough that five of the eleven teams in Unfinished Business were from this season. Like the cast, the season itself is polarizing. For the most part it's considered one of the all time greats, especially with those who watch the race for its competitive aspects (and it's the only post-Season 7 Race to make Phil's top 5), but those who dislike it ''really'' dislike it.

Lawyer siblings and the first Asian-American team to win the Race. Victor was nine years older than Tammy, and as such they struggled with communication issues, reaching their apex early in Romania when they nearly got eliminated due to Victor's stubborn refusal to listen to Tammy. However, despite that setback, they were the dominant team of the season, only finishing below 3rd in that one leg, and worked together more efficiently after that incident, with their wits leading them to victory.

* IdiotBall: Intentionally leaving their fanny pack behind in Bangkok while they sailed to their next destination, which would be a bad idea in real life, let alone a reality game show competition.

* PromotedFanboy: Luke quit grad school to come on the show. His status as such was mentioned in the finale as him living his dream.

* InsistentTerminology: Hi name is Michael, not "Mike."

* [[ReadTheFreakingManual Read the Freaking Clue]]: Their first set of double penalties.

* AlwaysSecondBest: In the later legs. The one time they did come in first happened to fall on a double-leg (though they still received jet skis).

* MiracleRally: In leg 10, despite winning the first half of the Super Leg, they got lost twice looking for clues on the second half of the leg, almost guaranteeing their elimination. Kisha & Jen got lost themselves, and got U-Turned, but still went into the Roadblock with a huge lead on the cheerleaders. Things looked over until Jen struggled with the ForeignQueasine Roadblock, then had herself a Potty Emergency. Meanwhile, Jaime & Cara got an amazing cab driver, Cara blazed through the Roadblock, and they managed to steal the last spot in the Final 3 while Jen was in the bathroom.

* MyHovercraftIsFullOfEels: The second leg 10 Detour required teams to listen to customers ordering food in Chinese, then repeat the orders to a chef. It was easy for Tammy & Victor since they spoke the language, but Kisha & Jen had a little difficulty: instead of ordering "New Taste Beef" they ordered "Oil Comes Again to Please the Mouth," and "Golden Pork Spare Ribs" got lost in translation as "Light Competition Red Dishes I've Played Before."

* {{Determinator}}: It was this quality, how they kept plugging on despite always being on the edge of elimination.

* {{Expy}}: They're an Asian version of Azaria & Hendekea (Season 12), eight down to the brother/sister dynamic.

* Expy: Of David & Mary, though they ended up being less fun and good-natured.

Deaf (and gay) contestant and his American Sign Language-translating mother. Luke is the first deaf contestant in the American series (following Asia Season 2 winner Adrian), and as such, Phil Keoghan signs their Race positions at the end of each leg. They started off as a strong team and early fan favorites until Luke got into a shoving match with Jen, turning them into a major BaseBreaker team overnight. Eventually, Margie's surprising physical strength combined with Luke's ruthless strategy got them into the Final 3 without ever being in danger of elimination, but Luke choked away a massive lead on the Final Roadblock, leaving the task last despite having 7 of his 11 surfboards placed before the other teams showed up, ultimately giving them 3rd place. Their strong showing and Luke's InspirationallyDisadvantaged status gave them a place on Unfinished Business.

They were remembered primarily for their fight with Margie & Luke and their humiliating elimination edit of Jen's PottyEmergency, which supposedly cost them the Race, though the U-Turn and their slowness also allowed Jaime & Cara to edge them out of the Final 3. They got the chance to erase that humiliation in Unfinished Business.

* NoSenseOfDirection: They got lost in every single leg.

* MsFanservice: To the point that Jaime became a Playboy Playmate after the Race.

* TheRunnerUpTakesItAll: Jamie launched her entire career off of her appearance on the Race, becoming a Playmate and a sports blogger for Playboy.

* AnnoyingLaugh: Kisha, which, intentionally or not, fueled Margie & Luke's fire.

Blonde flight attendants. They start off as the usual dumb blonde team until they surprisingly win a leg. Unfortunately, that glory was not to last, as after being rescued by a non-elimination leg, their Speed Bump penalty combined with their cab driver stopping for gas let Mark & Michael narrowly pass them despite taking the slower Detour option, where they ended up 7th.

* DumbBlonde

Good-looking young dating couple, cast as the second coming of Kris & Jon from Season 6. Though they started off as a high-placing team, they were Blind U-Turned by Margie & Luke, the latter whom recognized them as a potential threat. As their poor performance at the Detour put them in last already, they were eliminated. They returned for Unfinished Business as the first victim of the Blind U-Turn.

* ShockingElimination

Hillbilly couple. One of the most ill-suited teams to run the race, they were slow at everything and ended in 10th.

Standard bickering young dating couple. Were the first out in 11th place due to Jennifer's slowness.

* TheLoad: Luke suffered from concentration issues throughout the race which hurt his ability to perform some of the tasks. Ultimately, he wasted a significant lead at the Final Roadblock because he was too distracted by being unable to find the last surfboard.
* MamaBear: Margie reacted very intensely to her son possibly being bullied, which escalated into her bringing up race to compare with deafness issues.

* SpotlightStealingSquad: Especially Luke. He got a gushing montage from the other contestants after the first two legs, and their fight with Kisha & Jen took over an entire episode while bleeding into the following two. Even post-race, the other teams' interactions with them became a major factor in selecting Season 14's representatives for Unfinished Business, most blatantly Amanda & Kris for getting U-turned by them (though they got overshadowed by Zev & Justin during the actual season). As well, Luke losing the million dollars was chosen as the most heartwrenching moment in CBS's ''Top 10 Amazing Race Moments'' video over such moments as the Slave House visit in Season 6 and Auschwitz in All-Stars.

* ManipulativeEditing: As Jen later claimed in an interview, they were beaten by minutes, not seconds like Phil stated.
* MusclesAreMeaningful: This allowed them to beat Tammy & Victor in a footrace to the Pit Stop in the first China leg despite their supposed language advantage, and they became the target of a U-Turn later in the race.
* PottyEmergency: The result of Jen drinking so much water after eating Chinese "delicacies".

* IdiotBall: Also left their fanny pack behind in Bangkok. This had even worse repercussions for them since they tried to use personal possessions to settle their large fare, which landed them a cumulative 4-hour penalty

Filmmaker (whose writing credits include ''SchoolOfRock'') and his father, and the designated "Team Gay". Became fan favorites after Mel's humble prayer expressing gratitude for the experience just as he thought he was done for in the second leg. They were eliminated in Phuket after their cab driver drove them to the wrong location, landing them 6th, and got to run the race again in Unfinished Business.

* TheLoad: Mel constantly worried that he would be this due to his age.

They became infamous for Jaime's HairTriggerTemper, which she frequently took out on locals to the point this made up her Final 3 montage. Ultimately, they finished 2nd due to the combination of a bad taxi in the final leg and Jaime stumbling on one of the surfboards in the [[FinalExamFinale Final Roadblock]], and earned a spot in Unfinished Business.

* AlphaBitch: Jaime even describes herself as such in her pre-race interview.

* LaserGuidedKarma: In the final leg, their taxi driver's dispatcher tells them "I am not your personal concierge." This is treated as penance for Jaime's attitude towards cab drivers throughout the race (even though said dispatcher doesn't even know Jaime and thus this would be considered bad customer service in any other situation). Also, the surfboard Jaime missed had a picture of Jesus on it, leading her to say she "forgot about Jesus".
* MsFanservice: To the point that Jaime became a Playboy Playmate after the race.

* TrueCompanions: With Margie & Luke, to the point that Luke & Jaime helped each other find their missing surfboards in the final task. Also, Cara to Jaime. She gave up law school to pursue Jaime's dream of being on the race and reminded her that they were a team when she beat herself up for not being able to identify the first surfboard.

In the Romania Detour, he followed the wrong set of arrows to the coffin and refused to consider Tammy's suggestion that they might not be the race arrows, even breaking down in tears over the incident. This became less of an issue afterward, though he joked about not screwing up the Chinese language detours because it would bring their family shame.
* SiblingRivalry: Victor was the dominant one while Tammy was the passive one, and over the course of the race, they learned to be more equal.
