* BumblingDad: His attempts to promote his business and win investors come across as this, such as when he unwittingly interrupts Zoe's speech. Watching the video evidence of his behavior leads him to a JerkassRealization.
* BunnyEarsLawyer: He's pushy, over-eager, and makes some questionable business decisions, but Feng does successfully cater his daughter's wedding with an untrained staff at short notice. Moreover, he's genuinely good at making his baobing and nearly everyone who tries it enjoys it, supporting his argument that it could be "the next açaí." Unfortunately, one of the few people who doesn't like it is [[spoiler: Edgar, who Feng is trying to court as an investor.]] Feng also successfully tricks Sebastian into thinking he negotiated a deal with Korean business partner for him.

* RedHerring: [[spoiler: Throughout the first season, Walt is shown to be frustrated at being overlooked by his high school classmates, and he's established to blend into the background, to the point where he starts to seem suspicious. The finale has Danner narrow down the suspects to Walt after establishing he was the only one who could have run up the stairs...but then we find out that this was a misdirect, and Walt was in the bathroom when Xavier was pushed. Ultimately, Walt had the least to do with the murder out of everyone.]]

* BewareTheQuietOnes: [[spoiler: Subverted. It seems like this might be in play towards the end of the season when Walt starts to look guilty. He is clearly upset about being overlooked all the time and often disappears into the background. But despite this, Walt didn't kill Xavier and is really just a RedHerring.]]

* [[MrImagination Ms. Imagination]]: While all of the "mind movies" are embellished, hers are arguably the wildest. In Season 1, she imagines her night as colorful cartoon where multiple personalities pop out of her body, including a bear, and in Season 2 [[spoiler: she imagined a perfectly ordinary dog attacking her with glowing red eyes.]] Justified in that she is an artist and former art teacher.

* JerkWithAHeartOfJerk: She's snobby and mean to everyone and repeatedly gets Grace's name wrong, even misprinting it as "Gail" on the napkins. After Edgar dies, she immediately accuses Grace of the murder, leading most of the party to hate her. When Isabel finally tells her story, however, [[spoiler: we learn that Edgar was gaslighting her, including lying to her and ordering the wrong napkins himself, and that Isabel actually tried to help Grace by warning her not to sign the pre-nup, which would have left her bankrupt. Isabel even explains that she only accused Grace because she's been confused and scared.]] But right after that, [[spoiler: the police show up and Isabel goes back to accusing Grace and acting as she did before.]]
