Her only win is killing Slade, but she ends up killing herself too. Both are young female teen superheroes with PowerIncontinence issues and [[HeroWithBadPublicity public image problems]] -- Raven due to her half-demon nature making her come off as CreepyGood and her prophesied role to end the world, Terra due to [[DestructiveSavior the massive damage she leaves in her wake]]. However, their reactions to this issue are mirror images of each other. Raven ''accepts'' her flaws and works to overcome them; she works tirelessly to bring her powers under control and strives to be a hero in hopes of making up for the evil in her blood. Terra, on the other hand, ''runs away'' from her problems, both literally and metaphorically, by blaming others, making excuses for herself, and wallowing in self-pity. Whereas Raven constantly meditates and represses herself to establish her control, Terra fell in with Slade because he promised a quick and easy way for her to get the control she always wanted. Raven is incredibly loyal to her teammates, who she is implies to view as a surrogate family, whilst Terra happily betrayed the Titans to Slade in exchange for his "help". [[spoiler: The end of their respective character arcs further highlights their similarities and differences. Both hit the DespairEventHorizon, but Raven claws her way back from it, with a little encouragement from her friends, and continues fighting crime, whilst Terra ''literally'' declares ThatManIsDead and turns her back on her powers so she can enjoy a normal life]].
** With Starfire. They are both princesses that had to leave their homes, and are gifted with tremendous powers. Starfire was born with her powers in a loving environment, before being sold to the Gordanians by her villainous sister and escaped to Earth where she met the Titans for the first time. Despite being strangers, she ultimately trusted them to chase the Gordonians away. Terra was born on Earth without powers to manipulative parents, who used both of their children for experiments, leading to Terra gaining her geokinesis. Both have older siblings, but Blackfire is a sociopath who is ready to sell out both her sister and her planet, while Geoforce defended his country, was always protective of Terra, and was heartbroken when she left Markovia. As for their powers and personalities, Starfire is a confident young woman who uses her powers at their fullest potential, whereas Terra is an insecure StepfordSmiler with powers she can't control. Terra and Starfire are both princesses dating non-royalty, but Terra's romance with Beast Boy is ill-fated and never comes to fruition, whereas Starfire becomes an OfficialCouple with Robin in ''Troubles in Tokyo''. In Terra's case, it's her who is the LoveInterestTraitor working for Slade, while in Starfire's case, it was Robin. Starfire is very feminine young woman, while Terra is a TomboyPrincess.
** To Robin. Their arcs as characters are very similar, a thing Robin himself points out to her to convince her to turn her back on Slade whilst she still can. Both Terra and Robin became apprentices to Slade, but where Slade had to blackmail Robin and threaten to kill his friends, Terra willingly went to Slade after being seduced by his promises of teaching her "how to shine". Both of them had quite complex parental relationship with Slade; Robin always tried to defy Slade no matter how many times he got beaten for it, whereas Terra willingly did all the dirty jobs Slade gave her and saw his true face only after being abused by him. Robin never quite defeated Slade, whereas Terra was the one to finally put an end to the madman, killing herself in the process. Robin is serious, brooding, obsessive and confident in his abilities and never felt inferior to his friends for being TheTeamNormal. Terra on the other had, is a shy insecure girl who only puts up a confident appearance to hide how desperate she is to conceal her PowerIncontinence from other people. Robin is the leader of the Teen Titans, while Terra became the SixthRanger. And lastly, being disillusioned with everything that happened to her, she chose the life of a normal person and refusing Beast Boy's Re{{Call To Adventure}} and any change to rekindle her relationship with him. Robin cannot see himself leading a normal life outside of being a hero, to him is in-conceivable to put anything else above his war with crime. He almost made same choice as Terra with Beast Boy regarding Starfire, but in the end, he realizes he can both fight crime as much as he wants and be in a relationship.

Starfire was born with her powers in a loving environment, before being sold to the Gordanians by her villainous sister and escaped to Earth where she met the Titans for the first time. Despite being strangers, she ultimately trusted them to chase the Gordonians away. Terra was born on Earth without powers to manipulative parents, who used both of their children for experiments, leading to Terra gaining her geokinesis. Both have older siblings, but Blackfire is a sociopath who is ready to sell out both her sister and her planet, while Geoforce defended his country, was always protective of Terra, and was heartbroken when she left Markovia. As for their powers and personalities, Starfire is a confident young woman who uses her powers at their fullest potential, whereas Terra is an insecure StepfordSmiler with powers she can't control. Terra and Starfire are both princesses dating non-royalty, but Terra's romance with Beast Boy is ill-fated and never comes to fruition, whereas Starfire becomes an OfficialCouple with Robin in ''Troubles in Tokyo''. In Terra's case, it's her who is the LoveInterestTraitor working for Slade, while in Starfire's case, it was Robin. Starfire is very feminine young woman, while Terra is a TomboyPrincess.
** To Robin. Their arcs as characters are very similar, a thing Robin himself points out to her to convince her to turn her back on Slade whilst she still can. Both Terra and Robin became apprentices to Slade, but where Slade had to blackmail Robin and threaten to kill his friends, Terra willingly went to Slade after being seduced by his promises of teaching her "how to shine". Both of them had quite complex parental relationship with Slade; Robin always tried to defy Slade no matter how many times he got beaten for it, whereas Terra willingly did all the dirty jobs Slade gave her and saw his true face only after being abused by him. Robin never quite defeated Slade, whereas Terra was the one to finally put an end to the madman, killing herself in the process. Robin is serious, brooding, obsessive and confident in his abilities and never felt inferior to his friends for being TheTeamNormal. Terra on the other had, is a shy insecure girl who only puts up a confident appearance to hide how desperate she is to conceal her PowerIncontinence from other people. Robin is the leader of the Teen Titans, while Terra became the SixthRanger. And lastly, being disillusioned with everything that happened to her, she chose the life of a normal person and refusing Beast Boy's Re{{Call To Adventure}} and any change to rekindle her relationship with him. Robin cannot see himself leading a normal life outside of being a hero, to him is in-conceivable to put anything else above his war with crime. He almost made same choice as Terra with Beast Boy regarding Starfire, but in the end, he realizes he can both fight crime as much as he wants and be in a relationship.

On a scale from fun to serious, Beast Boy, Cyborg, Star, Robin, Raven, where the former two love to party, the latter two prioritize work, and [[TheHeart Star just wants everyone to get along.]]
** Terra was the SixthRanger for the brief time she was in the team.
* IBelieveICanFly: While Cyborg and Robin typically can't fly, Cyborg has some form of rocket-propulsion that he just [[ForgotICouldFly doesn't usually use]] and Robin has rocket boots and his cape turns into a pair of wings. [[ForgotICouldFly and he doesn't use them either]].
* MinorLivingAlone: All of the Teen Titans live without parental supervision in their island headquarters and they fight crime. [[JustifiedTrope There's a reason for this]]: two of them are orphans, one of them is a runaway, while another two have parents residing somewhere other than Earth. Cyborg is the only one who can readily access his father. Presumably the "super hero" thing credits them with responsibility to do this.
* MoralityChain: The rest of the Titans in general ground Robin, especially Starfire.
* MoreDeadlyThanTheMale: A bit of a [[DownplayedTrope downplayed]] and ZigZaggedTrope, but very much still notable. While killing is rare, the only confirmed kills in this group are [[spoiler: Terra killing Slade and Raven killing Trigon]]. However, this is played completely straight in terms of where everyone ranks on the JustForFun/SuperWeight scale. Cyborg, significantly more powerful than Robin or Beast Boy, is much weaker than Starfire, and not only is Raven is the most powerful Titan not just in the Core Group, after [[spoiler: Trigon is dead,]] she is very likely the [[WorldsStrongestMan most powerful character in the show, period]]. On the other hand however, [[BadassNormal Robin]] is significantly more cunning and a much more skilled fighter than anyone else in the team.
* PhysicalMysticalTechnological:
** Robin is the Physical as he relies on his martial arts. Beast Boy and Starfire are also Physical.
** Raven is the Mystical as she knows sorcery. Terra is also Mystical due to her geomancy.
** Cyborg is the Technological as he is half machine and can build gadgets for himself and others.
* RagtagBunchOfMisfits: The team consists of a CircusBrat and former sidekick of Batman, a half-man/half-machine, a sorceress with demon heritage, a green-skinned changeling, and an alien princess.
* TheTeam: Beast Boy and Starfire are the easiest to distill to a single archetype. Cyborg and Raven are the hardest. The fact that they can all wear multiple hats easily makes it impossible to shoe horn them into a neat team of five.
** Robin is TheLeader; he is the one saying "TITANS, GO!" and plotting their objectives. Although he can double as either a more SupportingLeader or fall to TheLancer when someone else's ArchEnemy takes the limelight.
** Cyborg is usually TheLancer, [[RedOniBlueOni Laid back when Robin is serious, serious when Robin is extreme]], [[NumberTwo takes over when Robin is absent]]. He's also a GadgeteerGenius GeniusBruiser TheBigGuy and TheSmartGuy.
** Beast Boy is the PluckyComicRelief going as far as to lampshade it, most likely to "Turn into a big animal" and thus can be TheBigGuy.
** Raven is a LadyOfBlackMagic, she's the most introspective and [[BadassBookworm Book]] [[TheSmartGuy Smart Gal]]. She can be TheLancer too since her dark attitude makes her a {{foil}} to the rest of the team's optimism and wacky antics.
** Starfire is TheHeart whose primary roles are Robin's love interest, a GirlyGirl foil to Raven, and the [[TheHeart caring one that everyone on the team gets along with]] and [[NaiveNewcomer helps to understand human culture]]. She also adopts TeamPet Silkie, a mutant silkworm, yet is technically the physically strongest Titan and a {{Proud Warrior Race G|uy}}irl BigGirl.
** Terra joins as a SixthRanger with a similar skill set to Raven. It's hard to pin down how she works in the team because [[spoiler: soon enough she's a SixthRangerTraitor]].
* ThouShaltNotKill: {{Downplayed}}. While they tend to spare their enemies after beating them most of the time, some exceptions are witnessed, such as [[spoiler:a redeemed Terra killing Slade and Raven killing Trigon]].
* TrueCompanions: {{Downplayed|Trope}} at first and then later played straight with CharacterDevelopment. They actually have a ''lot'' of internal strife early on, but their bond ultimately sees them through it all and they all grow much closer to each other as the show goes on.
* TwoGirlsToATeam: Starfire and Raven. It's more of a RedOniBlueOni dynamic than a straight up TomboyAndGirlyGirl situation. The second season added a third girl, Terra, [[spoiler:but she was TheMole and didn't last beyond that]].
* VagueAge: Played straight as we never learn their specific ages. Even when Raven has a BirthdayEpisode its an AgelessBirthdayEpisode. We can only surmise that Cyborg is the oldest and Beast Boy is the youngest.
* YoungerAndHipper: In the Wolfman/Perez run of the comics, the Titans were young adults. In this cartoon, they're all minors
