* DividedWeFall: When the merge hit, everything was set in place for them to dominate the rest of the game, and they proceeded to pagong the Lopevi tribe until there was one member left. However, underlying tensions (and a decision to spare Chris for one round when he was the last man remaining) ultimately broke the tribe apart, with Twila, Scout, and Eliza teaming up with Chris to eliminate the power alliance, leaving the door open for Chris to win the remaining immunity challenges of the season and ultimately take the title of Sole Survivor for himself.

* LawOfChromaticSuperiority: The tribe color is orange, fitting with the prior two tribes yellow and red.

* DarkHorseVictory: The only guy on a tribe full of [[StrawFeminist straw misandrists]] manages to turn the game around, manipulate all the women not only into allowing him into the Final Four, but giving him the money when the jury was five women to two men. Jeff once called him the most unlikely winner in the game's history.

* EarnYourHappyEnding: Called "one of the most unlikely winners ever" by Jeff Probst. This is hardly an understatement:
** He lost the Lopevis the first immunity challenge and narrowly escaped being the first boot. He only survived because the Fit Four alliance made it too obvious the rest of the tribe was next. Note that he's still the only winner with votes against him at the season's first tribal council.
** Lopevi went on to lose more challenges and Chris had his majority alliance weakened by the swap. Lopevi won more challenges and Chris became allies with Julie and Twila but...

** ...they were loyal to Ami first, and wasted no time taking out his allies. Lopevi as a whole entered the merge with fewer numbers, by the time only Chris remained, he had to turn on them to stay in the game. He had to be especially careful to orchestrate in-group conflicts toward the end of his run, and managed to narrowly talk his way out of elimination several times.
** Lastly, Vanuatu's final jury was full of people he either betrayed or was never aligned with to start. And keep in mind that jury had ''less'' of his allies than the merge.
