His debut was popular enough to warrant him a place in the Alpha series ''despite'' debuting in Original Generation, as his Ratsel persona (which is ''also'' the persona's debut!), though he did exist in the background of Alpha and even before then, a side-story called ''Super Robot Spirits''. So while he didn't debut in Original Generation at all, we just don't have a "Super Robot Spirits" category.

* EnsembleDarkhorse (Somewhat: Latooni's perhaps the most received character (who isn't Ratsel) who didn't appear in prior [=SRWs=] (although she was hinted at in Alpha 2). A fair bit of the plot in the first two games involves her backstory. And, [[YourMileageMayVary depending on your mileage]], everyone's loli for her)

** BadassNormal (Doesn't need a SuperRobot to kick your ass, let alone a fancy one-of-a-kind prototype. Just give him a [[RedshirtArmy mass-produced]] mech and some weapons, and he's good to go)

* ColbertBump (May also double as EnsembleDarkhorse (mecha-wise): Lenonjayce and Patricia may have created some of the Gespenst's more famous attacks, but by the time the first Original Generation game came around, the machine had fallen on hard times. When Kai shows up, he gives the Gespenst a well-deserved bump back into the halls of awesome. In-story, he takes this even further by designing the MK II Custom in Original Generation Gaiden on his own (with some internal support from Gilliam) and promoting its benefits to the higher-ups)
** EnsembleDarkhorse (Actually doubles for himself: he's LOVED by the fandom, and most consider Kai to be one of the most badass pilots EVER)

Originally a fighter pilot assigned to the Hiryu Custom, she eventually acquires [[SuperRobotWarsCompact2 Kyosuke Nanbu's]] old [[Main/RealRobot Gespenst]] (and painted it red) after he got his Alt Eisen. She has two sides to her personality: (excited) angry and REALLY angry. She tends to display an inferiority complex about her piloting skill whenever anyone else is chosen to pilot a unique mech. Eventually pilots the [[TransformingMecha R-Gun]]...only to switch back to her good ol' Gespenst by the time of Original Generation 2. She is also one of the more easily-suspicious people amongst the crews: if the others gladly welcome someone who get a HeelFaceTurn, Katina's the first to say "Hey, think twice! He/she was an enemy! What if...", only to be rebuked back and she usually accepts them again. She leads the Octo Squad, which at first consists only her and subordinate Russel. She later drafts Tasuku Shinguji and Leona Garstein.

* RunningGag (Always getting passed over for a chance to pilot whichever fancy new machine the Hiryuu crew get a hold of.)

* GlassCannon (In Original Generation, she gets the Hot Blood/Valor Spirit Command early in the game; in Original Generations, she gets the more powerful Soul. Unfortunately, her defense is shotty and horrible, alongside extremely poor Will/Morale gains)
** To say nothing of one of the worst evade stats in the game, at least until she gets past level 17 or so. The trick is getting her ''to'' survive until that point. Personal experience: first two times through the game in Kyosuke's route of the GBA Original Generation, ended up having to fully repair Katina's mechs at least once every other battle because the twit had gotten herself shot down yet ''again''. Even Russel hit 17 times faster than she did, and he's got a lower accuracy percentage at best.

Whoa.)

* MythologyGag (Wodan is this, in a nutshell. Not only [[spoiler:is his default SuperRobot the original mech of Sanger, but his outfit's exactly the same as his in Alpha Gaiden (aside from the mask)]]. The next time he appears, he just dons a [[Main/PaperThinDisguise pair of glasses, and calls himself Ratsel Feinschmeker]], but still calls his mecha Trombe, so it blows away any attempts to disguise himself, but he still does so, anyway. He also gets a Main/MidSeasonUpgrade and proves that ''[[MemeticMutation Real Men Ride Each Other]]'' with Sanger, by turning said Main/MidSeasonUpgrade [[TransformingMecha into a HORSE]] and have Sanger's own Main/MidSeasonUpgrade ride it...no, '''[[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yGTlE8w5r_A REALLY]]'''.
