** Thanks to his experience as an older brother towards Az, Edge shows this trait with younger kids like Yuta. He offers to look after the latter should he feel uncomfortable and homesick after joining the team.
** When reuniting with Az herself later on, Edge makes a point on wanting to spend time with her again and is comically disappointed whenever Az refuses as she wants to be independent from her big brother.

* BigBrotherWorship: Downplayed but it's there. As much as she rags on Edge, Az deeply cares for him and wants to show Edge how much she's grown since they separated.

* LukeIamYourFather: [[spoiler: It's heavily implied at the true ending that Mitsuba is one of the descendent of Cyclaminos' lover who betrayed her.]]

* TheGift: Both are naturally capable pilots. [[spoiler:Literally as they have "Gift" as one of their innate skills in-game which they unlock after receiving the Huckebein 30th]].

* MidSeasonUpgrade: [[spoiler:The Huckebein 30th, effectively the original Huckebein in all its classic glory, Black Hole Engine and all. The only new thing is [[MechaExpansionPack a new backpack]] that holds all of its guns, including the Black Hole Cannon (though it can also mount the Graviton Rifles like [[BackpackCannon Backpack Cannons]] in a pinch).]]

* CasanovaWannabe: He admits that one of his favorite things to do is to flirt with cute girls (though some really young girls like [[Manga/MagicKnightRayearth the Magic Knights]] are [[EveryoneHasStandards basically off-limits for him]]). Unfortunately for Edge however none are really interested, and he often voices his jealousy over other characters having more luck with the ladies than him.

* ShipTease: With Mitsuba if he's the protagonist. Edge shows an interest in her early on which other characters are quick to catch onto. By the time he receives the [[spoiler:Huckebein 30th]], Mitsuba begins to reciprocate as well.

* ShipTease: With Edge if he's the protagonist. By the time [[spoiler:he receives the Huckebein 30th]], her own feelings have become somewhat obvious to the others as well.

* GagBoobs: Even in a [[WorldOfBuxom series known for the bountifulness of its original female characters]], Orchidaca's are so ridiculously big, they realistically droop off of her body rather than being perked up.
* GreaterScopeVillain: By perverting spacetime to begin with, she enables Magister/Quaestor to break into Aos's reserves and retrieve their mothballed forces, which in turn were stolen from [[VideoGame/SuperRobotWarsZ Sidereal, Chrono, and the Angels]] countless millennia ago. The ending reveals that this sets in motion a series of events, culminating in the Idon ArtificialIntelligence program inhabiting these units successfully crossing the Karmic Horizons to invade ''30'''s universe.

* BigDamnHeroes: [[spoiler:After Orchidacea forcefully brainwashes the Dreisstrager crew into becoming her soldiers, Mavvy appears and reveals she was [[CrazyPrepared expecting this and prepared a countermeasure just in case]]. This allows the crew to snap out of her control and help take her down.]]

* ActuallyIAmHim: Throughout the Expansion Pack, Mavvy will speak about a famous book telling the story of Kagerabi, a woman who destroyed an entire nation in grief and rage after her husband betrayed her. Not only is it revealed that Cyclaminos and Kagerabi are the same person, but said betrayal all but destroyed her sanity and her willingness to live alongside humanity.

** "The Door to Crossover", the mission that introduces most of the Expansion Pack units, is available from the start of the game, and in that mission's intro, Mavvy tells Edge/Az about the legend of Kagerabi. It won't be until the Expansion Pack campaign, well into the postgame, that the legend's connection to Cyclaminos is revealed.
* GoingNative: Defied. After Magister overthrew her, she ''tried'' to make a new life for herself on Earth as Kagerabi. Her husband's betrayal brought a swift, brutal end to that, however.

* MaskOfSanity: Much like her sister Orcidacea, her stoic, detached demeanor masks the burning hatred and rage towards humanity and Earth that has consumed her.

* VillainousBreakdown: She spends most of the Expansion Pack as a calm, but smug conqueror, but once Mitsuba reminds her of her past as Kagerabi, she flies into a rage and declares she will destroy Dreikreuz utterly.

* GagBoobs: Even in a [[WorldOfBuxom series known for the bountifulness of its original female characters]], Orchidaca's are so ridiculously big, they realistically droop of her body rather than being perked up.

* OlderThanTheyLook: Az is 15 years old turning 16 during the story. Not unlike [[Manga/MagicKnightRayearth Hikaru]] however, several characters such as [[Anime/CombattlerV Hyoma]] and the Shrike Team mistake her as being closer to [[Anime/MobileSuitVictoryGundam Usso's]] age.

* MsFanservice: Her outfit leaves very little to the imagination.

* {{Foreshadowing}}: Her existance has been alluded to ever since the base game, as Masaki (who was initially available as a pre-order bonus before being added to the base game for free) says that he heard a female voice beckoning him before he was transported to the game's Earth.

* MysteriousPast: [=DLC1=] implies there's even more to their past and true origins than what the main story ends up divulging, as they're immediately put off by the Stamen Bitols and note that they look vaguely familiar.

* KilledOffForReal: In both endings. In the normal ending, Magister kills him for turning traitor, while in the IF ending his fate varies depending on whether or not he's allowed to join the Dreikreuz. If allowed, then Caruleum sacrifices himself during the final battle against Magister. If he's not allowed, then he'll become the TrueFinalBoss of the game instead after he kills Magister and takes Dreikreuz on by himself in one final battle.[[spoiler: [[SubvertedTrope Subverted]] in the Expansion Pack, where he reveals he survived and makes (an attempt at) a dramatic reveal of this fact.]]

* HeelFaceTurn: Implied near the end of the DLC Pack 1 scenario where Mayvy reveals that it was through Orchidacea's help that she was able to seal away the Gate of Love in Phnom Penh. Both the former and Mitsuba believes that with the Quaestors finally defeated, Orchidacea was finally able to find closure and move on from the pain of losing the Aos. Neither can confirm it as Orchidacea herself remains silent over the matter.

* TheBadGuyWins: The fact that these things are loitering around in countless numbers after the destruction of the ''Z'' universe makes them a victory for Advent's original agenda, who wanted to erase the universe of the ''Z'' saga and remake it in his own image, the Angels' creations and Chrono being an extension of that. [[SubvertedTrope Now, though, it'd probably just leave an incredibly bitter taste in his mouth]].

* DemotedToExtra: It's possible recruit the other protagonist just like in past games. However, they will not make any other appearance in the story outside of their recruit stage event, ace pilot and bridge chat event[[note]]Az does have an extra line of dialogue in the "Beautiful, Righteous, and Strong" DLC scenario if Edge is the protagonist where she complains about his overprotective nature[[/note]] unlike other optional or secret characters.

* [[AloofBigBrother Aloof Little Sister]]: Towards Edge. Although she loves her big brother dearly, Az easily gets annoyed by how overprotective Edge is towards her and thus, after they reunite, she acts in a aloof fashion in order to be independent from him.

* TheCaptain: Of the Dreikreuz.

* CoolBigSis: With Yuta and also Az if she's the protagonist.

* {{Deuteragonist}}: Alongside Edge and Az, Mitsuba is one of the main characters of the game as it also focuses on her struggles as leader of the Dreikreuz and coming to terms with being given such a position despite her inexperience. The main focus was in fact on hers, the Sainklauz siblings are just the SupportingProtagonist.

* CoolBigSis: She acts like one with Az if she's the protagonist.
