[[caption-width-right:250:"[[DramaticIrony You must know I will]] ''[[DramaticIrony never]]'' [[DramaticIrony turn to the dark side willingly!]]"]]
-->'''Voiced by:''' Matt Lanter

The main hero [[ItWasHisSled and eventually villain]] of the ''Star Wars'' saga.

* AcePilot: Despite his tendency for crash landings, when there's an OldSchoolDogfight, he really shows that he's without a doubt one of, if not ''the'', most skillful pilots of the Jedi Order. One of the best examples might be when he pulled a WronskiFeint on two squads of droid fighters who were moving on two different vectors just a split second prior!
* AdaptationExpansion: He's given a lot more characterization beyond the angst that defined him in the prequel trilogy, which makes him much more likable here.
* AggressiveNegotiations: The trope namer.
* AlwaysSaveTheGirl: In a non-romantic sense. When the Son kidnapped Ahsoka, Anakin went to confront him, shrugging off Obi-Wan's warnings about something like that could have devastating effects on the universe at large.
* ArtificialLimbs: His right lower-arm, a result of his duel with Count Dooku in ''Film/AttackOfTheClones''. During the Citadel arc, it got him captured by an electro-magnet.
* {{Badass}}: He's not called the Hero With No Fear for nothing.
* BadassBookworm: A brilliant engineer and tactician who leads his men from the front.
* BadassTeacher: To Ahsoka.
* BadGuysDoTheDirtyWork: He isn't a bad guy ([[ForegoneConclusion yet]]), but [[AntiHero Anakin]] killed Tal Merrick, sparing [[KnightInShiningArmor Obi-Wan]] and [[ActualPacifist Satine]] from having to do so.
* BashBrothers: With Obi-Wan and Ahsoka.
* BerserkButton:
** Don't threaten Ahsoka, Obi-Wan, R2, or Padmé.
** For the love of the Force, don't threaten a slave (or even mention something related to slavers) in front of him.
** Do ''not'' look like you're romantically interested in his wife. Anakin nearly beat Clovis to death for almost kissing Padmé.
* BigBrotherInstinct: He's very protective of Ahsoka.
* BigBrotherMentor: He really acts more like a big brother towards Ahsoka, than a Jedi Master. Not surprising given his attachment issues and that they're only a few years apart.
* BigNo: In both "Altar of Mortis" and "Ghosts of Mortis".
* CaptainCrash: Lampshaded in the episode "Bounty Hunters".
-->'''Ahsoka:''' How comes every time you fly, we crash?\\
'''Anakin:''' It's not my fault, it's the ship.\\
'''Ahsoka:''' He always blames the ship.
* TheChosenOne
* CombatClairvoyance: Jedi stock power, this is how they can dodge deflect blaster fire with their lightsabers.
* TheCorruptible: As proven in "Ghosts of Mortis" (and will be reiterated, to much more devastating effect in ''Film/RevengeOfTheSith''), Anakin is deeply vulnerable to TheDarkSide, especially if he believes he is [[WellIntentionedExtremist doing the]] [[KnightTemplar right thing]].
* [[CowboyCop Cowboy Jedi]]: Has a tendency to launch his own independent investigations when the Jedi Council stonewalls him.
* CrazyJealousGuy[=/=]{{Yandere}}: When he saw Padmé being held in Rush Clovis's arms, and about to be kissed by him (despite her resistence), he lost his cool so hard, he almost killed Clovis.
** Even before that, Anakin ''ordered'' Padmé to not help Clovis.
* CuttingTheKnot: He's won every space battle so far with unorthodox tactics. Best examples might be the Battle of Ryloth, when he combined ISurrenderSuckers with RammingAlwaysWorks, and the Battle of Bothawui, when he deployed walkers to the asteroids, getting behind Grievous's fleet.
* {{Cyborg}}: Though not to the same extent as he would later be, Anakin has a cybernetic right arm.
* DarkAndTroubledPast: [[Film/ThePhantomMenace Growing up in slavery]] and [[Film/AttackOfTheClones slaughtering a camp of Tusken Raiders]] certainly qualifies.
* DeadpanSnarker: Anakin is a master of sarcasm, especially towards Obi-Wan.
* {{Determinator}}: He was once captured by an electromagnet because of his mechanical arm, and was subjected to ElectricTorture. It didn't stop him from retrieving his lightsaber (also stuck to the electromagnet) and freeing himself.
* DidWeJustHaveTeaWithCthulhu: The Father, embodiment of the Balance of the Force, having Anakin as a guest on a stormy night.
* DidYouJustPunchOutCthulhu: Taming the Daughter and the Son, the embodiments of the Light and Dark Sides of the Force, ''simultaneously'' certainly counts.
* DramaticIrony: As the caption shows, it's impossible to ignore who and what Anakin will become, even though he is (barring a brief period in "Ghosts of Mortis") ignorant of his fate.
* DualWielding: Pulls this off in "Cargo of Doom", "Legacy of Terror", and "The Wrong Jedi", using Ahsoka's, Luminara's, and [[spoiler:Barriss']] lightsabers, respectively.
* FaceHeelTurn: In "Ghosts of Mortis", where he turns to the Dark Side to try and prevent his vision of the future from coming true. He reverts back to the light side after the Father erased his memories of the vision. And the sad thing is, we know that [[ForegoneConclusion it will]] [[Film/RevengeOfTheSith happen again]].
* AFatherToHisMen: He's pretty caring towards Rex and Ahsoka, but he usually comes up with reckless plans that send both of them into serious danger. Then again, given they are in the middle of war, his plans could be argued as the lesser of two evils: he doesn't send his men into situations he knows they won't survive.
** He also leads from the front and seems unwilling to order his men to do anything he wouldn't do himself.
* FreudianExcuse: Spending much of his childhood as a slave gave Anakin a ''seething'' hatred for slavers. In addition, loosing his mother, first when he was taken to be a Jedi, and later when she died shortly before the Clone Wars, left him with an inability to let go of anyone he cares about.
* ForegoneConclusion: For all of Anakin's heroism in this series, we know that he ''will'' eventually succumb to the dark side, and become Darth Vader.
* {{Foreshadowing}}: His actions during the Mortis arc foreshadow his FaceHeelTurn as Darth Vader and his ultimate HeelFaceTurn and restoration of the balance of the Force.
* FourStarBadass: As a Jedi Knight, he's a ranking officer of a BadassArmy.
* GreenEyedMonster: Anakin's jealousy of Padmé's former relationship with Clovis is PlayedForLaughs for most of "Senate Spy"... until the end, where he abandons Clovis to the mercy of Lott Dod, Poggle the Lesser, and a battalion of battle droids.
* AGodIAmNot: Dismisses the prophecy of TheChosenOne as "a myth" to the Father.
* GodJob: The Father asked him to take his place in keeping the balance between the Son and the Daughter. [[DefiedTrope Anakin turned him down]].
* GoMadFromTheRevelation: He didn't take the vision of his future well.
* GoodScarsEvilScars: He has the classic "Anti-Hero" scar over his right eye.
* GroinAttack: Delivered one to "Rako Hardeen".
* HandicappedBadass: His missing right arm never impedes him in the slightest except that one time mentioned above, but that turned out to be a blessing in disguise.
* TheHero[=/=]TheLancer: He's the hero most of the times, except the episodes focusing on Obi-Wan, in which he plays the role of the lancer.
* HugeGuyTinyGirl: With Ahsoka.
* IndyPloy: He usually makes up the plans as they go.
-->'''Rex:''' What's our plan of attack, sir?\\
'''Anakin:''' Follow me.
* InTheBack: How he killed [[spoiler: Tal Merrick and the Son.]]
* {{Irony}}: He trains rebels on Onderon. Considering what his later career would be spent doing...
** In "Ghosts of Mortis", he temporarily turned to the Dark Side a few years early to prevent himself from becoming Darth Vader. And his first decisions? Telling Obi Wan the Jedi have to be killed off because they stand in the way of peace... which is exactly how things went down in ''Episode III''.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Snarky, hotheaded, and ill-tempered, but Anakin is ([[ForegoneConclusion for now, anyway]]) one of the good guys.
* KillTheGod: He killed the Son, embodiment of the Dark Side of the Force.
* KnightInSourArmor: Grows increasingly more disillusioned with the Jedi Order as the series progresses.
* KnightKnaveAndSquire: The Knave, as he's more of a CombatPragmatist than Obi-Wan with a few signs of WellIntentionedExtremist thrown in.
* KnightTemplar: Anakin isn't quite as extreme as some examples of this trope (Tarkin, for example), but he still shows signs of it. If nothing else, he has no qualms with using torture and lethal force if he believes that he's in the right.
* KnightTemplarBigBrother: He once Force-Choked Poggle the Lesser to get the information he needed to save Ahsoka.
** Also almost killed Ventress in a blind rage in the SeriesFauxnale [[spoiler: when he believed she framed Ahsoka for murder.]]
* LaserBlade: His lightsaber.
* LaserGuidedAmnesia: His memories of the vision of the future, as well as his brief FaceHeelTurn, were erased by the Father.
* TheLeader: Type Headstrong. He's confidant and bold to the point of recklessness, but it does wonders for clone morale.
* LoopholeAbuse: The Jedi and the Republic can't help out the Onderon resistance due to red tape. Anakin's solution? Hire Hondo's crew to deliver weapons in the Republic's place.
* NeckLift: Frequently employs the [[SignatureMove Force Choke]] as a means of interrogation.
* MachineEmpathy: He recognized R2's voice through a radio.
* MilitaryMaverick: Anakin is very well-known for disregarding orders from higher authorities - whether it be the Jedi Council or the Supreme Chancellor - and still bringing in positive results.
* MindOverMatter: Whenever Anakin uses telekinesis it really shows off how powerful he is. Amongst his most impressive feats are holding back an ''explosion'' with his mind for several seconds, and his aforementioned victory over the Son and the Daughter.
* MoralDissonance: Let's just say he's the last person you'd expect to give Obi-Wan a WhatTheHellHero speech for lying and deceiving others. Also, in TheMovie, the lecture he gave to Ahsoka on being humble sounds rather strange coming from him.
* OneHeadTaller: Than Padmé.
* [[OverprotectiveDad Overprotective Master]]: Played with. Usually he has no problem with bringing Ahsoka into a combat situation, since it ''is'' part of her training after all (and he's usually there to keelhaul anything that so much as thinks of killing her) but when a mission is so dangerous that even ''he'' overthinks every plan going into it, he justifiably wants her to stay out of it.
* PapaWolf: Don't endanger Ahsoka's life unless you're massively suicidal. [[spoiler:That he needed Barriss alive to prove Ahsoka's innocence was likely all that stopped Anakin from killing her.]]
* ParentalHypocrisy: As Ahsoka's mentor he often finds himself having to preach patience, humility and detachment. All of which are things Anakin has struggled with constantly as a Jedi. Most notable when he notices Ahsoka's affections for Lux and gently reminds her to set aside feelings. Considering the trouble this causes him, it's clear he simply wants her to avoid the hardships of his own life.
* TheProtagonist: The story mainly revolves around him.
* ProtagonistJourneyToVillain: Continuing his story from the films, Anakin grows progressively darker as the series wears on, setting up his [[StartOfDarkness story]] [[JumpingOffTheSlipperySlope arc]] in ''Film/RevengeOfTheSith''.
* PunchCatch: Pulls this on Ventress during their scuffle in "The Wrong Jedi".
* RageAgainstTheMentor: He calls Obi-Wan out on his rather questionable actions during the Deception arc in "Crisis on Naboo".
* TheRedBaron: Known as "The Hero With No Fear". {{Ironic|Nickname}}, considering how much fear he carries.
* RedOniBlueOni: The red to Obi-Wan's blue.
* ResignedToTheCall: Rather interestingly, while every earlier [[StarWarsExpandedUniverse Expanded Universe]] material pictured Anakin as someone who JumpedAtTheCall of being TheChosenOne, it's revealed on Mortis that not only did he not think of himself as such, he didn't even ''believe'' in the prophecy. Then, when he proved it to himself as well as to the Father, he still refused to stay on Mortis to keep the Daughter and the Son in balance. It took the demise of all three Force-wielders for him to seemingly accept it.
* SecretRelationship: He's secretly married to Padmé. [[DeconstructedTrope Deconstructed]] in "The Rise of Clovis", which comes to show that a marriage built on lies isn't a very healthy one.
* TheStrategist: As noted above, he's quite good at thinking outside the box.
* SupernaturalGoldEyes: In "Ghosts of Mortis", when he briefly turns to the Dark Side and in the Zygerrian arc, where his eyes turn Sith gold for certain scenes.
* TookALevelInKindness: He's much more mature and personable in this series than he is in the films. Being Ahsoka's teacher has brought out his parental instincts, and he's generally under far less stress here than in the movies.
* UndercoverAsLovers: Invoked and subverted in "Hostage Crisis". Anakin was trying to convince Padmé to take a break away from the politics, and go on to a vacation with him, where they could act as husband and wife, instead of as general and senator, because no-one would've recognised them.
* TheUnfettered: Anakin, already less fettered than your average Jedi, edges closer and closer to this trope (and fully embraces it during "Ghosts of Mortis") as the series goes on.
* VitriolicBestBuds: With Obi-Wan, but the vitriol is definitely of a [[DeadpanSnarker deadpan]] variety.
* VoiceOfTheLegion: In "Overlords", when he controls the Son and the Daughter.
* WellIntentionedExtremist: He's beginning to show signs of this, particularly when he Force-chokes Poggle the Lesser to get information needed to save Ahsoka, and when he briefly turned to the dark side and joined forces with the Son to try and stop his visions of [[Film/RevengeOfTheSith the]] [[Film/ANewHope future]] from coming true.
--> '''Ahsoka''': You might find some of [Anakin]'s thoughts on the future ... a bit radical.
* WoobieDestroyerOfWorlds: Briefly, in "Ghosts of Mortis". After being shown his future as Darth Vader, he willingly [[FaceHeelTurn turns to the dark side]] and becomes willing to unleash [[HumanoidAbomination the Son]] upon the galaxy in order [[WellIntentionedExtremist to prevent that future from coming to pass]].

[[quoteright:250:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/obi-wan-CW-tl_250_3330.jpg]]
[[caption-width-right:250:"Things are changing. And sometimes the line between friend and foe is blurred. Now more than ever."]]
-->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/JamesArnoldTaylor

Anakin's former master and his best friend. Has a reputation as "[[{{Ambadassador}} The]] [[AggressiveNegotiations Negotiator]]" on the battlefield.

* {{Ambadassador}}: He's even [[TheRedBaron nicknamed]] "The Negotiator".
* {{Badass}}: Which he demonstrates on a regular and very impressive basis, especially in the Mandalore and Deception arcs, as well as his ongoing personal war with [[spoiler:Darth Maul]].
* BackToBackBadasses: Seems quite prone to this, even managing to pull it off with an ActualPacifist (Satine) and [[EnemyMine one of his enemies]] (Ventress).
* BadassBeard: For that "mature gentleman" look when on a mission.
* BadassBookworm: An intelligent, cultured gentleman who can kick a lot of ass when the time for it comes.
* BadassTeacher: Veteran Jedi Knight who teaches Anakin and others.
* BaldOfAwesome: As part of his infiltration mission in the Deception arc, he temporarily has his whole head shaved as part of becoming Rako Hardeen. How he grew it all back after that is a mystery.
* BashBrothers: With Anakin.
* BelligerentSexualTension: With Satine. They can barely spend five minutes together without snarking at each other, but both admit to still being in love, even if their respective duties prevent a relationship.
** UnresolvedSexualTension: Possibly. While they do not pursue a relationship in the series, it's left ambiguous as to whether their relationship might have been more intimate when they first knew each other.
* BerserkButton: When [[spoiler:Maul]] throws [[Film/ThePhantomMenace Qui-Gon's death]] in Obi-Wan's face during their duel in "Revenge", Obi-Wan ''loses it''. [[spoiler:Maul]] even lampshades it.
-->[[spoiler:'''Maul:''']] Your rage has unbalanced you. [[DeadpanSnarker That is not the Jedi way, is it]]?
** He doesn't get visibly angry, but when Obi-Wan sees that Satine is in danger in "The Lawless", he actually [[OOCIsSeriousBusiness defies the Jedi Council]], and goes to Mandalore to help her.
* BewareTheNiceOnes: Obi-Wan is a polite, kind-hearted and fatherly Jedi Knight who mercilessly and repeatedly beats the crap out of the Separatists. Even though he's called the Negotiator, that doesn't mean he does it by just [[TalkingTheMonsterToDeath talking them to death]].
* [[spoiler: CartwrightCurse: Anyone familiar with Obi's EU track record should know [[StuffedIntoTheFridge what happens]] to women when he reciprocates their affection for him, and that they always [[DiedInYourArmsTonight die in his arms]].]]
* CombatClairvoyance: Jedi stock power, this is how they can dodge deflect blaster fire with their lightsabers.
* CombatPragmatist: In "Revival", Obi-Wan [[spoiler: kicks Savage's knee out from behind him before chopping his arm off]].
* CoolHelmet: He gets one as part of his Rako Hardeen disguise, and it's based on old Ralph [=McQuarrie=] concept art for Boba Fett's helmet.
* DeadpanSnarker:
-->'''Obi-Wan:''' That's your plan? Just fly in there, land, hope they don't spot us, and walk through the door?\\
'''Anakin:''' Basically.\\
'''Obi-Wan:''' [[SarcasmMode Oh, brilliant]]. Let's get going.
** Also:
--->'''Obi-Wan:''' You seem a bit on edge.\\
'''Anakin:''' There's a good chance that we're about to destroy all life on this planet, including ours and the senator's. So ''yes'', I'm a bit on edge! Why aren't you?\\
'''Obi-Wan:''' [''shrugs''] I'm better at hiding it.
* {{Deuteragonist}}: Along with Ahsoka, he's the secondary main character of the series.
* DressingAsTheEnemy: In "The Lawless", he poses as a Death Watch soldier in order to rescue Satine.
* DualWielding: He pulls this off on occasion, such as in his duel with Grievous in "Grievous Intrigue" (using an electrostaff), while fighting Cad Bane in "The Hunt for Zior" (with Quinlan Vos' lightsaber), and in his second fight with [[spoiler: Maul and Savage]] in "Revival" (using [[spoiler: the late Adi Gallia]]'s lightsaber).
* EnemyMine: Teams up with Asajj Ventress to fight [[spoiler: Darth Maul]] and Savage Opress in the season 4 finale.
** He joins forces with Bo-Katan in "The Lawless" in order to escape Mandalore.
* FakingTheDead: As part of his infiltration in the Deception arc.
* TheFettered: Jedi are this as a rule, but Obi-Wan explicitly mentions the strength that comes from resisting the lure of TheDarkSide during his conversation with [[spoiler:Darth Maul]] in "The Lawless".
* FourStarBadass: As with every Jedi Knight, he was given the rank of "Jedi General" within the Clone Army.
* FriendlySniper: As Rako Hardeen. From the man who refers to blasters as "uncivilized".
* GentlemanSnarker: Obi-Wan's polite, diplomatic demeanor can mask some pretty biting snark.
* GoodIsNotSoft: Obi-Wan prefers to settle conflict diplomatically. Emphasis on ''[[{{Badass}} prefers]]''.
* GradualGrinder: During his second battle against them, [[spoiler: Maul]] and Savage were unable to break his defense while he continued kicking Savage in the knee at each opportunity until it finally gave out.
* GroinAttack: Anakin subjected Obi-Wan to it while the latter was undercover as his own supposed murderer, Rako Hardeen.
* HeartbrokenBadass: He doesn't let it show too much, but Obi-Wan is clearly heartbroken over [[spoiler: Satine's death at the hands of Maul]].
* TheHero[=/=]TheLancer: He's the hero whenever an episode is focusing on him. Otherwise he's Anakin's lancer, a role he often shares with Ahsoka.
* HeroicBSOD: The Zygerrian slaver queen's plan was to push him into this by putting him into a situation where his attempts to help the other slaves would only hurt them.
** Goes through a brief one when [[spoiler: Maul murders Duchess Satine]].
* IDidWhatIHadToDo: How he tried to justify his actions in the Deception-arc to Anakin.
* TheInfiltration[=/=]ReverseMole: As Rako Hardeen.
* ISurrenderSuckers: Did it in TheMovie, and again during the Zygerian trilogy.
* JetPack: Gets to wear one when in Mandalorian Armor and working with Bo-Katan.
* KnightInShiningArmor: Obi-Wan fits this trope more than almost any other Jedi in the series. Satine even lampshades it.
-->'''Satine:''' My valiant Jedi Knight comes to my rescue once again.
* KnightKnaveAndSquire: The Knight.
* LaserBlade: Light-saber.
* TheLeader: Type Levelheaded. When he's in command, the clones follow a more cautious and levelheaded {{plan}}.
* LightIsGood: He explicitly speaks of the virtues of the light side of the Force during his confrontation with [[spoiler: Darth Maul]] in "The Lawless".
* LittleNo: When he sees [[spoiler: Darth Maul]] on Mandalore.
-->'''Obi-Wan:''' No... [[ThisCannotBe it can't be]]...
* MagicPlasticSurgery: After [[FakingTheDead faking his death]] and shaving himself in the Deception Arc, he goes through this via needle injection to become Rako Hardeen. [[BodyHorror The process looked somewhat painful]].
* MasterSwordsman: He spectacularly lives up to his "Master" title in "Revival", where he simultaneously takes on [[spoiler: Maul]] and Savage, and cripples the latter, following [[spoiler: Adi Gallia's death.]]
* NiceGuy: He stands out as one compared to [[JerkWithAHeartOfGold Anakin]] and [[GoodIsNotNice Mace Windu]].
* NotSoDifferent: To Anakin, given that both of them have politicians for love interests. Anakin ''really'' enjoys pointing this one out.
* ReasonableAuthorityFigure: In the season 5 finale, he's the only one on the Council to outright voice the opinion that [[spoiler:they shouldn't just hand over Ahsoka to the Senate Court]]. To their credit, when the others make a majority decision, they make sure to note that it doesn't represent all of them.
* RedHeadedHero
* RedOniBlueOni: The blue to Anakin's red.
* ReverseGrip: With Quinlan Vos' lightsaber against Cad Bane on Teth.
* ScrewTheRulesImDoingWhatsRight: In "The Lawless", the Jedi Council can't legally go to [[spoiler:Mandalore to help Satine]], despite Obi-Wan's pleas to reconsider. Obi-Wan proceeds to go there anyway.
* ShutUpHannibal: During his confrontation with [[spoiler:Darth Maul]] in "The Lawless", Obi-Wan refutes every one of his enemy's claims of the Dark Side's power by reinforcing his belief in the light. [[spoiler:Maul gets the last word, however, when he murders Satine.]]
* TheSnarkKnight: He could be the poster boy of the trope. Even when [[spoiler: being beaten senseless by Darth Maul and Savage Opress]], he keeps the snark coming.
-->'''Satine:''' [[LampshadeHanging The sarcasm of a soldier]].
* SnarkToSnarkCombat: With Anakin, Satine, Quinlan Vos, Cad Bane [[spoiler: while posing as Rako Hardeen]] and an EnemyMine version with [[spoiler: Asajj Ventress]].
* StarCrossedLovers: With Satine. He's a Jedi, sworn to protect the Republic and it's peace and to not form personal attachments. She's the duchess of a ruined planet which she tried to rebuild by turning her people's ProudWarriorRaceGuy culture into a pacifist society. Obi-Wan, for his part, seems to at least partly regret how things turned out, and says that, had Satine asked it of him, he would have left the Jedi Order to be with her.
* TalkingTheMonsterToDeath: Attempted it when he showed pity for [[spoiler: Darth Maul, believing that Maul didn't choose the dark side of his own volition. Maul gleefully proves him wrong by murdering Satine.]]
* TattooedCrook: As Rako Hardeen.
* VitriolicBestBuds: With Anakin, but it's the [[DeadpanSnarker deadpan]] type of vitriol.
* VocalEvolution: Instead of doing a Creator/EwanMcGregor impersonation like before, Creator/JamesArnoldTaylor takes parts of Ewan and parts of Sir Alec Guiness and combines it to form his own version of Obi-Wan Kenobi.
* [[WhatTheHellHero What the Hell, Jedi?]]: The Deception arc is a big WhatTheHellHero for Obi-Wan, Yoda, and Mace with Anakin of all people delivering it to them.
* WorthyOpponent: Dooku considers him a worthy adversary after he was able foil an attempted kidnapping of the chancellor by disguising himself as a bounty hunter and sabotaging the plot from the inside.
* YouDidntAsk: A dramatic, and rather sad example. He claims that the only reason he returned to the Jedi, instead of staying with Satine in his youth, was because she didn't ask him to do so.
* [[YourTerroristsAreOurFreedomFighters Your Freedom Fighters Are Our Terrorists]]: His main objection to Anakin's plan of training the rebels on Onderon is that he fears they'd be training terrorists.

[[folder:Ahsoka Tano]]
[[quoteright:296:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/Ahsoka-Tano-001_2488.jpg]]
[[caption-width-right:296:"I'm a Jedi Knight! ...Or soon will be."]]
-->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/AshleyEckstein

Ahsoka was introduced as a very young and inexperienced, outright green Padawan, who however was enthusiastic to change that, and looked forward to learning from Anakin. While Anakin was initially dismissive towards her, due to her being foisted on him without his consent, he soon realised how similar they were, and accepted Ahsoka as her apprentice.

* ActionDuo: Forms one with Lux in "A Friend in Need", with Lux being the ActionSurvivor to her ActionGirl.
* ActionGirl: She saves Anakin as many times as he saves her.
* AffirmativeActionGirl: Cross-media example, the series has a lot of {{Action Girl}}s, but in the prequels Padmé was the only female character with an active role.
* AgeInappropriateDress: As the series's most prominently featured female character, she's also the primary [[MsFanservice source of]] {{Fanservice}}, resulting in most of her outfits being questionable as noted below at BareYourMidriff, CleavageWindow, GoGoEnslavement and SexyBacklessOutfit. Could be handwaved, by her being a [[RubberForeheadAlien togruta]]; [[ValuesDissonance a species with different standards on clothing]].
* AlienHair: Her horns and head-tails.
* AnimationAnatomyAging: When introduced, Ahsoka had eyes disproportionately large with her completely round face, her horns were only stubs, and her headtails barely reached beyond her shoulders. Post-timeskip, her eyes have noticeably shrunk ('tho they still remained unrealistically large), her face got longer and angled, her horns grew larger and curved, her headtails reached the middle of her chest. Finally when her adultself appeared in her vision, she had almond-shaped eyes, oval face, very large horns, and headtails reaching to her thighs.
* TheApprentice: She's Anakin's padawan during the time of the series.
* BadassAdorable: Especially pre-timeskip, when she was a short, inexperienced fourteen-year-old way in-over-her-head, but never backed-down. She even invoked it, after she saw Seripas’s true form:
--> '''Ahsoka''': You don't have to ''look'' tough to ''be'' tough.
* BadassInDistress: More than a couple of times. Mostly justified, as she's just a learner and has the misfortune of running into opponents who're a match for even Master-level Jedi. Also justified because while she's badass, she's still in the middle of a galaxy-spanning war. War on any scale tends to be fairly hazardous, even if you are a Jedi.
* BareYourMidriff:
** When she was introduced [[AgeInappropriateDress at age 14]], all she wore on her upper body was a truly ''tiny'' tubetop.
** Her slave disguise in the Zygerian trilogy was also a midriff baring one.
* BeautyIsNeverTarnished: Played straight when she was captured and transferred to a jungle moon by Trandoshans as "prey" for sport hunting. She gets covered in dirt, but despite physically fighting with the lizards, she didn't receive a single bruise or scar.
** Averted in the Season 4 episode "A Friend in Need", when the Death Watch tied her up and dragged her back to their camp on the ground. At the end of the episode, she had visible bruises.
* BigBrotherWorship: Although she usually hides it with being snippy and snarky, and she's not afraid to argue with him, if she feels he's wrong about something, she looks up to Anakin very much, she has the utmost trust in him, and one of her greatest fears is disappointing him.
* BigEgoHiddenDepths: A few scenes in the movie, and several in episodes focusing on her, has shown that her initial brash, snippy and overconfident attitude was merely a facade to hide how insecure she felt regarding her status as Anakin's apprentice.
* BlackAndWhiteMorality: Becomes particularly clear in "Heroes on Both Sides", where she sums up the war, as "the Separatists are evil, and they (the Republic and the Jedi) must stop them", and can't grasp the idea, of why the Senate is wasting time debating bank-(de)regulations. After meeting Mina and Lux Bonteri, she realises and invokes that the war is [[BlackAndGrayMorality not as black and white, as she thought.]]
* BrainwashedAndCrazy: After the Son infects by the Dark Side, Ashoka develops a number of CuteAndPsycho tendencies.
* BreakTheCutie: Despite being a PluckyGirl, the events of the season 5 finale are just too much for her. Ahsoka gets framed for multiple murders, terrorism and sedition, the Jedi Council abandons her and makes no effort to conduct their own investigation, and the Senate Court (particularly [[{{Jerkass}} Tarkin]]) are more than happy to sentence her to death. [[spoiler:On top of that, Anakin discovers that her best friend is the one who framed her. In the face of all this, she understandably refuses Yoda's offer to return to the Order, despite the fact that they all but said outright they would promote her to Jedi Knight for putting up with all this crap. As she leaves the Temple, she sheds a SingleTear.]]
* CharacterDevelopment[=/=]ComingOfAgeStory: Over the course of the series she grows from a cheeky, stubborn and rash youngster to a serious, level-headed and dependable young woman.
* ClearMyName: The focus of the Sabotage arc, [[spoiler:though Anakin has to pick up the slack after Ahsoka's attempts [[NotHelpingYourCase continually backfire]] and she's arrested. In the end, Anakin succeeds, but her trust in the Jedi Council is shattered, prompting her to leave]].
* CleavageWindow: Her second outfit has one, though it's a little too high to be a completely straight example.
* CombatClairvoyance: Jedi stock power, this is how they can dodge deflect blaster fire with their lightsabers.
* CommandingCoolness: When she became a Padawan, she was also given the rank of "Jedi Commander".
* CoolBigSis: She was very briefly acting as role-model to Kalifa, and to a much lesser extent to O-Mer and Jinx. Also towards Prince Lee-Char.
* CryCute: Sheds a SingleTear at Obi-Wan's [[FakingTheDead apparent death]].
** [[spoiler:Again when she leaves the Order in the season 5 finale]].
* CunningLinguist: In the Season 3 finale, she was able to understand Chewbacca's language, something the younger trainees with her could not do. (In the ''VideoGame/KnightsOfTheOldRepublic'' series, the ability to understand new languages quickly is a natural Jedi ability, though apparently one her younger friends had yet to learn.) Oddly, she doesn't understand a Twi'lek in season 5.
* [[DatingCatwoman Dating Separatist Boy]]: She's attracted to Lux Bonteri, the son of a Separatist leader. Later he becomes a rogue element.
* DamselOutOfDistress: In the Season 3 finale she's kidnapped by Trandoshans and thrown out into a jungle to be hunted down. She refuses to hide and run, and decides to fight back against the lizards.
* DavidVersusGoliath: During the climax of the Season 3 finale she had to fight Garnac, the trandoshan leader. The guy was 2 meters tall, weighted 178 kilograms, had a very thick reptilian hide, and was armed with an axe and a knife in addition to his claws, and his species are on the same scale of physical strength as Wookies. All Ahsoka had was her WaifFu and Force-skills.
* DeadpanSnarker: Seems to have picked this up from Anakin and Obi-Wan.
* DefectorFromDecadence: [[spoiler: As a result of how the Jedi Order abandoned her when she had been framed, Ahsoka decides not to return when given the offer.]]
* DesignatedGirlFight: She's had [[OnceASeason one in each season]]:
** Season 1: she had to face Ventress, while guarding a captured Nute Gunray.
** Season 2: she had to fight a [[SymbioticPossession brainworm controlled Barriss Offee.]]
** Season 3: she and Aurra Sing had their face down, when the bounty hunter was trying to assasinate Padmé.
** Season 4: while escaping the Death Watch she was forced into a hand-to-hand combat with Bo-Katan.
** Season 5: during her investigation for clues about her FrameUp, she was attacked by a hooded assailant, who was very clearly female. [[spoiler: In the next episode the assailant was revealed to be a fallen Barriss Offee.]]
* DesignatedVictim: As mentioned above, she has a tendency of getting into ''real'' trouble very frequently. So far she's been captured/kidnapped on six occasions, and the Sabotage arc has her accused of multiple homicides and terrorism/sedition.
* DisneyDeath: The Son temporarily killed her after [[YouHaveOutlivedYourUsefulness she outlived her usefulness]]. Anakin and the Daughter brought her back by transferring her remaining life force to Ahsoka.
* DreamingOfThingsToCome:
** She foresaw Aurra Sing’s attempt to assasinate Padmé in her dreams.
** She also had a vision of her adult self warning her about the darkness in Anakin.
* DualWielding: She's added a shoto (short lightsaber) to her arsenal during the TimeSkip between "The Hunt for Ziro" and "Heroes on Both Sides". Doubles as a bit of ShownTheirWork, as the offhand weapon is supposed to be shorter in RealLife martial arts.
* EffortlessAmazonianLift: In "Sabotage", after Anakin gets knocked out while piloting his starfighter and R2 has to make a crash-landing on a too-short cliff, Ahsoka leaps over to his fighter, hoists him from it, then jumps back to the cliff moments after the starfighter goes barreling off. Especially impressive considering that she could barely lift him back in the Season 1 episode "Jedi Crash".
* EnsignNewbie: Lampshaded in TheMovie by Rex, who was quick to point out that even if she does outrank him, it doesn't make up for her lack of experience.
* [[HeelFaceBrainwashing Face Heel Brainwashing]]: Courtesy of the Son in "Altar of Mortis".
* FacialMarkings: According to the ExpandedUniverse Togruta have these as part of their [[BizarreAlienBiology biological camouflage]], but [[AllThereInTheManual supplementary materials of the show]] are suggesting that they're cultural tattoos. It's debatable which one should be considered canon.
* FatalFlaw: Two of them:
** Her overconfidence and drive to prove herself worthy of being Anakin's student get her into situations well beyond her ability to handle a lot of time. As Plo Koon puts it:
--->'''Plo Koon:''' What is Ahsoka's greatest strength?\\
'''Anakin:''' She's fearless.\\
'''Plo Koon:''' That can also be a weakness.
** She's also somewhat quick to make judgements, and she has the utmost trust towards Anakin, the Jedi Order and the Republic itself. All of these backfired on her during the Sabotage arc ''very hard''.
* FingerlessGloves
* FormFittingWardrobe: Her second outfit. Makes one wonder how can she fit her head (which is quite a bit larger than a human's, due to her horns and head-tails) through the tight-looking neckpart of her shirt.
* FragileSpeedster: She's quick and agile, but initially she was lacking abit in strength and endurance. She eventually grew a ''lot'' stronger, but even then, her speed and agility remained her main skills.
* FriendToAllChildren: Right from her introduction in TheMovie, she was shown to be quite good with children, starting with the way she took care of Rotta, Jabba's infant son, and culminated in the Young Jedi-arc, where she repeatedly put her life in risk to protect the younglings under her care.
* GenerationXerox: To Anakin and possibly [[VideoGame/TheForceUnleashed Starkiller]]. She has an attitude similar to Anakin's and lost her lightsaber once.
* GoGoEnslavement: During the Zygerian arc she's disguised as a slave girl and was given a rather questionable BedlahBabe outfit, that was even more revealing than her first one.
* HelpingWouldBeKillStealing: Takes this role in the Onderon arc. With her assistance, the rebellion would have gone much more smoothly, but it would defeat the purpose of internal rebellion to have obvious outsider aid in the form of the Jedi.
* HiddenDepths: Ahsoka's brief sojourn to the dark side in "Altar of Mortis" implies that she is holding back quite a bit of frustration with Anakin's teaching methods, as well as her perception that he doesn't entirely trust or believe in her.
* HonorBeforeReason: In a "Friend in Need". She must have been perfectly aware that even if she did have her lightsabers, she'd have a rough time surviving a fight alone against the entire Death Watch, yet she attacked them with only a makeshift staff and her martial arts skills to protect [[BusFullOfInnocents the villagers]].
* HornedHumanoid: Her horns grant her super effective hearing, as noted below at SuperSenses.
* HugeGuyTinyGirl: With Anakin.
* HypocriticalHumor: She called Ventress (who apparently [[ImportantHaircut chose to be]] [[BaldOfEvil bald]]) a "hairless harpy", despite [[BizarreAlienBiology being naturally hairless]] herself.
* InnocentBlueEyes: They signify her youth and naivete.
* InTheBack: How she killed Osi Sobeck.
* InterspeciesRomance: She's a Togruta and has a love interest in the form of Lux Bonteri, a human.
* KidAppealCharacter: At the beginning, but she's since grown out of this role.
* KnightKnaveAndSquire: The Squire. She even invoked it in the Movie, when she told Anakin, that he’s the one with experience, from which she looked forward to learning from.
* TheLancer: To Anakin, a role she shares with Rex, and occasionally with Obi-Wan.
* LaserBlade: Her lightsaber. She picks up a second one in Season 3.
* LittleMissBadass: As noted above, pre-timeskip she was very young and inexperienced, but also quick-thinking and tough as nails.
* LoveTriangle: Caught in one with Lux and Steela, an Onderon freedom fighter, during the Onderon arc.
* MasculineGirlFeminineBoy: Masculine Girl to Lux's Feminine Boy.
* MedalOfDishonor: [[spoiler: After she's been cleared of the charges of sedition, terrorism and murder, she was offered a chance to return to the Order, and it was implied, that the Jedi Council was willing to knight her for the strength and resilience she had shown throughtout the whole ordeal. Since they were the ones who kicked her out of the Order, this comes off as a rather rude attempt to make up for it. However she refused to even return to the Order.]]
* MidSeasonUpgrade: In the middle of season 3, a TimeSkip updates the appearances of most of the cast. Ahsoka also picks up DualWielding, pushing it into this trope.
* MiniDressOfPower: Her first outfit consisted of a truly ''tiny'' tube-top, and a DangerouslyShortSkirt [[ProperTightsWithASkirt made safe by tights]].
* MsFanservice: All the examples of AgeInappropriateDress should make this abundantly clear.
* MusclesAreMeaningless: Over the course of the series, she's displayed feats of physical strength belying her stature numerous times, such as flooring Cad Bane and Atai Moleck, or when [[EffortlessAmazonianLift she pulled up the much larger Obi-Wan]] who was hanging from a cliff. Could be justified with the Force.
* MySignificanceSenseIsTingling: After her first dreams about Aurra Sing attempting to kill Padmé, she was also able to sense the danger to the senator while awake. This includes sensing Aurra’s location twice, which allowed her to save Padmé on both occasions.
* NeverLiveItDown: In-universe. Ahsoka called Anakin "Skyguy" exactly once in TheMovie, rarely in the series compared to "Snips" and she generally became a lot more respectful towards Anakin by Season 2. Despite this, Anakin still calls her "Snips" a lot (granted, she did pick up some of his and Obi-Wan's DeadpanSnarker tendencies).
* TheNicknamer: She initially called Anakin "Skyguy" and referred to R2 as "Artooie". She's grown out of it fairly quickly.
* [[GreenSkinnedSpaceBabe Orange-Skinned Space Babe]]
* PluckyGirl: Ahsoka's been beaten, tortured, hunted, nearly killed several times, once killed (on an occasion where she was also forcibly turned to the dark side and forced to attack her master), and watched several friends and allies suffer and die over the course of the war. Yet despite all of this, she never complains, never gives up, and never shows any sign of breaking. As Anakin and Plo Koon put it, when she went missing:
-->'''Plo Koon:''' What is Ahsoka's strength?\\
'''Anakin:''' She's fearless.\\
'''Plo Koon:''' That can also be a weakness. Is she a worthy apprentice?\\
'''Anakin:''' No one has her kind of determination.\\
'''Plo Koon:''' Except [[{{Determinator}} you]].
** [[spoiler: However being betrayed and framed for sedition and murder by a close friend, abandoned by the Jedi Council, and almost sentenced to death by the Republic Court managed to break her.]]
* ProperTightsWithASkirt: The only thing that saves the DangerouslyShortSkirt she wears with both of her regular outfits.
* RedOniBlueOni: The red to Barriss's blue. She even has the skin color to match.
* RescueRomance: She saved Lux from being executed on Dooku's orders.
* ReverseGrip: Her fighting style.
* RubberForeheadAliens: She's a Togruta.
* RunOrDie: When cornered by Grievous, Ahsoka and the younglings prepared to fight, but in the last second Hondo and Katooni arrived with the Slave-I to extract them. Ahsoka instructed the younglings to run, while she held up Grievous. Once the younglings were safe, Ahsoka too abandoned the fight, knowing that she had no chance of winning.
* SupernaturalGoldEyes: When turned to the Dark Side in the ''Ghosts of Mortis'' arc her irises turn yellow.
* SecretSecretKeeper: The Season 5 finale implied that she knows about Anakin and Padmé. [[WordOfGod Confirmed by Filoni]] in an interview, although he did not specify how much she knows.
* SuperSenses: Since Togruta horns work as passive echolocators:
** She has very sharp hearing, which she used to find the kidnapped infants in "Children of the Force" and to eavesdrop on a conversation regarding Aurra Sing in a noisy bar in "Lethal Trackdown".
** For the same reason she also possesses extremely fine spacial-awareness, which she used when she saved Anakin from a bunch of droids, by bringing down a wall on them, [[ByWallThatIsHoley while Anakin was standing right under a hole on it.]]
* {{Shorttank}}: She started out as a snippy, strong-headed and a bit tomboyish girl, wearing clothes befitting the attitude, but [[CharacterizationMarchesOn she mostly grew out of it]] by Season 3.
* TaintedVeins: After the Son infects her with the Dark Side, she develops pronounced black veins as well as the usual SupernaturalGoldEyes and AxCrazy tendencies.
* TeamDad and TeamMom: She shows both the disciplinary and protective traits of a TeamDad, and the gentle, kind nurturing traits of a TeamMom while guarding the younglings in the Young Jedi-arc. She's even referred to as their "chaperone" at one point.
* TemptingFate[=/=]FromBadToWorse: She had a tendency early on in the series, to say something like "The hard part is over.", when it seemed they've won the day, and true to formula things always turned for the worse soon afterwards. Apparently she learned the lesson, because she stopped doing it by Season 2.
* ThighHighBoots: She's been wearing knee-high ones since her introduction, but in her vision of her future, her adult-self wore boots reaching to the middle of her thighs, complete with ZettaiRyouiki.
* TiredOfRunning: Twice in the Season 3 finale.
* TokenNonHuman: Well, the cast as a whole has quite a few aliens, but Ahsoka is the only one in the main group.
* TomboyAndGirlyGirl: The tomboy to Barriss's girly girl, the girly girl to Steela's tomboy.
* TookALevelInBadass: She's taken several over the course of the series. Probably best testifying this are her two duels against General Grievous: while in Season 1 Grievous defeated her without even trying, during their rematch in Season 5, she was actually able to hold her own, and knock him back once, despite still being heavily outmatched by the cyborg general.
* TraumaCongaLine: The final arc of Season 5 was just one emotional blow to Ahsoka after another, leading up to her [[spoiler:resignation from the Jedi Order]].
* TraumaticHairCut: As a Togruta, she doesn't have hair by default, so she can't grow a Padawan braid. Instead, she wears a braid made of beads to symbolize her status as a Jedi-in-training. Cad Bane took it from her as a trophy when he captured her. She didn't appear to be anything but mildly annoyed by it, but she did make a point to take it back after his capture.
** [[spoiler:Overlaps with InsigniaRipoffRitual in the season 5 finale, where the braid is taken from her when she's expelled from the Jedi Order. Then it becomes an ImportantHaircut when she decides not to return to the Order after she's proven innocent.]]
* [[{{Deuteragonist}} Tritagonist]]: Along with Obi-Wan, she's the secondary main character of the series.
* UndercoverAsLovers: In "A Friend in Need" Ahsoka needed an excuse for why she was with Lux, when he went to make a deal with the Death Watch, and she got involved. She claimed she was his betrothed.
* UnusualEyebrows: A subversion of the "no eyebrows" category. As usual for a Togruta, the only hair on her head is her eyelashes. However, she does have eyebrow-shaped white stripes above her eyes.
* VaporWear: Both her tiny tubetop and the SexyBacklessOutfit are "suggesting" this.
* WaifFu: She's a very skilled hand-to-hand combatant.
* [[WellDoneSonGuy "Well Done, Padawan" Girl]]: She tries to cover it most of the time, but Anakin's acknowledgment means a lot to her, as seen in TheMovie and when she ranted about not getting any while she was corrupted by the Son. She [[CrowningMomentOfHeartwarming finally earns it]] in the Season 3 finale.
* WrenchWench: In "Ghosts of Mortis", it seems she's picked up some of Anakin's skills with machines.
* WrongfulAccusationInsurance: In the season 5 finale, after she's cleared of the charges of sedition and murder, no mention is made of the fact that she escaped custody, assaulted both military and civilian law enforcement, and consorted with a war criminal.
* YouShallNotPass: In "A Necessary Bond" Ahsoka held up Grievous while the younglings escaped onto Slave-I, commandeered by Hondo.

[[quoteright:158:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/Padme1b_7199.jpg]]
[[caption-width-right:158:"I put my faith in diplomacy."]]
-->'''Voiced by:''' Catherine Taber

* ActionGirl: See BadassNormal.
* {{Ambadassador}}: A couple of times she has to kick ass, while she's on diplomatic missions.
* BadassNormal: Has no Force-powers, nor weird alien abilities, but she's more than capable of taking care of herself.
* BraidsOfAction: When she goes on "adventures" that require her to go full ActionGirl-mode, she ties her hair into one of these in advance.
* BrownEyes: She's the only main character with brown eyes. She's also the only one to see how the War is tearing apart the Republic from the inside, and does everything in her power to lessen the suffering of the people. Furthermore, she's a person of absolute dedication. She's also very supportive emotionally towards Ahsoka. In other words, she's a model of reliability.
* CoolBigSis: Her relationship with Ahsoka is basicly being an emotionally supportive adult, and a strong female role-model.
* CrazyPrepared: She was going to a peaceful diplomatic meeting with a personal friend on a neutral planet but hid lock picks in her boots in case she was arrested and chained to something.
* DistressedDamsel: Zizagged, depending on the plot and within the plot.
* DamselOutOfDistress: When she gets captured, she's usually well on her way to escaping by the time the heroes arrive.
* GuysSmashGirlsShoot: Her BattleCouple dynamic with Anakin.
* MartialPacifist: "I believe in diplomacy." However, that doesn't mean she's unwilling to fight, or that she's incapable of fighting.
* MasterOfTheMixedMessage: In the Clovis-arc, she's "forced" to work with Clovis on the files they stole, that would expose those who committed embezzlement in the Banking Clan. Even though she insists it's purely business, she goes to the Opera with him, wearing the exact same outfit she wore on the "not"-romantic evening Anakin and she spent together on Naboo. Then she invites him to her private residence, serves him dinner and drink, while they laughingly reminisce their previous works together.
* MsFanservice: She has a couple of quite revealing outfits, including one with a [[BareYourMidriff bare midriff]]. The most egregious one is the SexyBacklessOutfit ''with'' an ImpossiblyLowNeckline, that she wore over VaporWear in "Senate Spy".
* OneHeadTaller: Anakin is this to her, as then when they embrace.
* RousingSpeech: Delivers an epic one in "Pursuit of Peace".
* SecretRelationship: She's secretly married to Anakin. [[DeconstructedTrope Deconstructed]] in "The Rise of Clovis", which comes to show that a marriage built on lies isn't a very healthy one. She even tells Anakin how messed up their relationship has gotten after he nearly beats Clovis to death, leading her to decide that they keep some distance for a while.
* UnlimitedWardrobe: [[DownplayedTrope Not quite "unlimited"]], but she's among the few characters who has more than a couple of outfits.
* WideEyedIdealist: Certainly the most idealistic senator in the Republic.
* WindmillCrusader: Throughout the series, she makes one desperate attempt after the other to find a peaceful resolution to the conflict, but all of them fail.

[[quoteright:102:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/C-3PO_1b_2825.jpg]]
[[caption-width-right:102: "We're doomed!"]]
-->'''Voiced by:''' Anthony Daniels

* ActionSurvivor: The amount of abuse he goes through and comes out of in one piece is quite amusing. Forms an ActionDuo with R2, whenever they're put together.
* ADayInTheLimeLight: OnceASeason, either on his own or with R2-D2.
* ButtMonkey[=/=]TheChewToy: Even in this series, he isn't safe from the universe's abuse. Forms of abuse include R2 dragging him into various bizarre adventures, being hit by a tram, teamed up with [[LethalKlutz Jar Jar Binks]], kidnapped and tortured by Cad Bane, etc.
* GlowingMechanicalEyes: Complete with EyeLightsOut in "Nomad Droids".
* LooseLips: In "Evil Plans" he's kidnapped and "tortured" by Cad Bane, who wanted to get the blueprints of the Senate from him. To Bane's annoyance, it turned out 3PO doesn't have that kind of information, and he gave voice to this, claiming the droid to be useless. Hearing that, 3PO immediately revealed to him, that blueprints were always stored inside R2's memory.
* NonActionGuy: He doesn't want to be anywhere near any kind of actions either.
* {{Omniglot}}: Translation ''is'' his primary programming.
* [[OnlySaneMan Only Sane Droid]]: He typically plays this role when teamed up with R2-D2, or on one occasion, [[LethalKlutz Jar Jar Binks]].
* RidiculouslyHumanRobot: He's bossy, conceited and whiny, but also has a HiddenHeartOfGold.
* SensitiveGuyAndManlyMan: Sensitive guy to R2's manly man; it's his timid nature and manner of speaking.
* ThoseTwoGuys: With R2-D2 they make the lower deck robots.

!! R2-D2
[[quoteright:108:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/R2-D2_1b_7077.jpg]]
[[caption-width-right:108: "Beep Boop."]]

* ActionDuo: He's the {{badass}} to 3PO's ActionSurvivor whenever they're put together.
* ADayInTheLimeLight: OnceASeason, either on his own or with C-3PO.
* BadassAdorable: It's amazing how such a sweet, cute little droid can cause so much trouble for the Separatists.
* HeroicSacrifice: Subverted in "Point of No Return." He stays behind on a Republic cruiser filled with enough explosives to blow up a gathering of the entire Republic fleet to prematurely detonate it from afar (it was getting too close to shut down normally). [[SavedByCanon Naturally]], [[MadeOfIron he survived this explosion, but just barely in that his outer frame was badly damaged]], and all it took to get him up and running again were a salvage crew and a repair job.
* HypercompetentSidekick: He's this to Colonel Gascon in the Secret Weapons arc, to the point that he's perfectly content with outright disobeying Gascon if he thinks he knows better (which he does). He even pocketed the {{MacGuffin}} when Gascon dropped it, just for that extra bit of leverage.
* MadeOfIron: [[CaptainObvious Aside from being made of metal]], he survives (point-plank) [[FantasticNuke an explosion intended to blow up a Republic fleet gathering]], with only his outer body damaged. [[SavedByCanon However]], [[PlotArmor the writers couldn't kill him even if they wanted to]].
* RobotBuddy[=/=]NonHumanSidekick: A beeping robot for Anakin.
* SavedByCanon: Rather shamelessly abused in "Point of No Return", where R2 survives the destruction of a Republic cruiser filled to the brim with explosives (which was intended to destroy a space station) with what can best be described as cosmetic damage. He came out of it with no limbs (easily replaced), but his central frame was completely intact.
* SensitiveGuyAndManlyMan: Manly man to C-3PO's sensitive guy; space dog fights, infiltration, melee combat, and he does it all with (literal) NervesOfSteel.
* SilentSnarker: He can be pretty sassy, especially when someone smaller than him tries to pull rank.
* SpannerInTheWorks: He has repeatedly put a wrench in villains' plans (and helped the heroes in their darkest hours) just from the fact that they pass him off as just another astromech droid and underestimate him. In the Zygerria arc, he was the only one of the heroes to not be taken into slavery. He pretty much disappeared in the [[DarkestHour last act]] of "Slaves of the Republic" and didn't show up again until the first act of "Escape from Kadavo" to help Anakin escape from his captors. In "A Friend in Need", Death Watch assigned him to droid maintenance duty, only for him to gain the droids' gratitude and make an army to use against Death Watch. Rule of thumb: if Artoo is along for the ride, chances are that he's going to prove helpful at some point, even if he doesn't have a heavy presence.
* SwissArmyWeapon: Not only he has tons of hidden gadgets built inside him, including rocket boosters, a taser, several pointy manipulator arms, a sawblade etc, but he himself ''is'' Anakin's multi-purpose secret weapon, who's invaluable in that he's capable of almost anything, from accessing to any computers in seconds, opening doors, co-piloting the ships, and saving the heroes about OnceAnEpisode.
* ThoseTwoGuys: With C-3PO. His part is downplayed because he will occasionally go off on his own or with other robots or Anakin.
* {{Troll}}: A non-verbal example to Colonel Gascon in the D-Squad arc.
* TheUnintelligible: He communicates through beeps and whistles.

[[caption-width-right:250:"[[DramaticIrony You must know I will]] ''[[DramaticIrony never]]'' [[DramaticIrony turn to the dark side willingly!]]"]]
-->'''Voiced by:''' Matt Lanter

* AggressiveNegotiations: The trope namer.
* BadassTeacher: To Ahsoka.
* BerserkButton:
* TheChosenOne
* HugeGuyTinyGirl: With Ahsoka.
* IndyPloy: He usually makes up the plans as they go.
-->'''Rex:''' What's our plan of attack, sir?\\
* LaserBlade: His lightsaber.
* OneHeadTaller: Than Padmé.

* BashBrothers: With Anakin.
* DeadpanSnarker:
** Also:
--->'''Obi-Wan:''' You seem a bit on edge.\\
* TheInfiltration[=/=]ReverseMole: As Rako Hardeen.
* KnightKnaveAndSquire: The Knight.
* LaserBlade: Light-saber.
* RedHeadedHero
* TattooedCrook: As Rako Hardeen.

-->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/AshleyEckstein

* BareYourMidriff:
* DreamingOfThingsToCome:
* FatalFlaw: Two of them:
** Her overconfidence and drive to prove herself worthy of being Anakin's student get her into situations well beyond her ability to handle a lot of time. As Plo Koon puts it:
--->'''Plo Koon:''' What is Ahsoka's greatest strength?\\
* FingerlessGloves
* HugeGuyTinyGirl: With Anakin.
* [[GreenSkinnedSpaceBabe Orange-Skinned Space Babe]]
-->'''Plo Koon:''' What is Ahsoka's strength?\\
* ReverseGrip: Her fighting style.
* RubberForeheadAliens: She's a Togruta.
* WaifFu: She's a very skilled hand-to-hand combatant.

[[caption-width-right:158:"I put my faith in diplomacy."]]
-->'''Voiced by:''' Catherine Taber

* ActionGirl: See BadassNormal.

-->'''Voiced by:''' Anthony Daniels

* ActionDuo: He's the {{badass}} to 3PO's ActionSurvivor whenever they're put together.
* RobotBuddy[=/=]NonHumanSidekick: A beeping robot for Anakin.
* {{Troll}}: A non-verbal example to Colonel Gascon in the D-Squad arc.
* TheUnintelligible: He communicates through beeps and whistles.
