* FatalFlaw: For a diplomat, Qui-Gon was terrible at communicating. In the Master & Apprentice novel he spends little time talking to Obi-Wan, not even telling his student he had been offered a seat on the Jedi Council which would necessitate Obi-Wan finding a "new master" or explaining why he wanted his student to stick to the basics, causing Obi-Wan to doubt himself and hen they "do" talk Qui-Gon frequently cuts off dicussions when two are finally getting somewhere. As a result Obi-Wan had a lot of difficulty understanding his teacher and the novel ends with their communication issues unresolved. Compare this to "Age of Republic - Obi-Wan Kenobi" where Obi-Wan resolves his miscommunication with Anakin, reassuring each other that they did want each as student and teacher. We see this similar lack of communication in the novel "Padawan" and more significantly in "The Phantom Menace" where Qui-Gon's failure to communicate with Obi-Wan [[InnocentlyInsensitive results in it looking like]] he is abandoning his student of twelve years to take on a boy he barely knows.

consistent pattern of behaviour; Claudia Grey worked backwards from Episode I when writing Master & Apprentice in terms of character's personalities.

* EstablishingCharacterMoment: When he first appears, he tells Obi-Wan to be mindful of the living force and that the people at the Trade Federation are cowards so their negotiations with them will be short, establishing him as a wise and perceptive mentor who believes in the Force. Then, when the Neimodians try to kill him and Obi-Wan with poison gas, he immediately draws his lightsaber and holds his breath while telling Obi-Wan to do the same before they effortlessly slaughter a group of battle droids, also establishing that he's an experienced combatant who's not to be trifled with.

Debated amongst both fandom and creator's whether Qui-Gon would have been a better teacher e.g. Dave Filoni believes this but George Lucas made it clear Qui-Gon wasn't a good teacher for Anakin.

* MentorArchetype: To Obi-Wan and Anakin during ''The Phantom Menace''. He becomes the one who teaches Yoda the way of retaining one's identity upon death, and manifesting as a Force spirit. The biggest tragedy of the Prequel Trilogy is that Qui-Gon's unorthodox thinking would've made him the perfect master for Anakin (in contrast to the more authoritative Obi-Wan, who proved an unfit choice for Anakin's mentor) and probably could've stopped him from falling to the Dark Side.

* MyGreatestFailure: Begging Obi-Wan to train Anakin is one for him as it lead to Anakin's turn to the dark side, the fall of the Jedi Order, and Obi-Wan being forced to live the rest of his days as a hermit, feeling that he failed Obi-Wan as a mentor because of this mistake. cut down on Aayla's bio, which was copy-pasted from Wookieepedia and was overly long

Aayla Secura was a Rutian Twi'lek Jedi Master that served as a Jedi General of the Grand Army of the Republic during the Clone Wars. Prior to the Clone Wars, Secura learned the ways of the Force as the Padawan learner of Jedi Master Quinlan Vos. With the outbreak of civil war between the Galactic Republic and the Separatists, Secura and her fellow Jedi supported the Republic by becoming officers in its newly-formed military. She was a Jedi General and commanded the clone troopers of the 327[-[[superscript:th]]-] Star Corps, with Commander Bly serving at Secura's side. Throughout the war, Secura fought alongside her clone troopers in multiple battles across the galaxy, from Geonosis to Quell, Coruscant, and Felucia. As the war drew to an end, the clone troopers were brainwashed and forced by Supreme Chancellor Sheev Palpatine to execute Order 66, resulting in a sudden purge of the Jedi Order at the hands of their own clone troopers. As a result, Secura was among the first casualties of the purge, having been shot in the back repeatedly by Bly and several other clone troopers.
