Seisho Music Academy is divided into two departments: the Actor Training Department, in which students are trained to be great stage actresses, and the Stage Production Department, in which students learn how to work behind the scenes to support the students of the former.


The franchise focuses on 9 students from the 99th class of Seisho, all of whom are aiming to be the one and only Top Star.

* TheAce: As Seisho is one of the most prestigious performing arts schools in Japan, they are all considered the creams of the crop in the world of theater by default as only a handful of 30 talented students are selected from entrance exams each year. Due to this, they're looked up to by the other schools who see them as rivals they need to surpass above all.
* AdaptationalBadass: They're capable of more impressive feats in the anime than in the stage plays. Justified thanks to the anime's medium allowing them to [[RuleOfAnimationConservation fight much more creatively than real people could]].
* AdaptationalJerkass: They're all comically ruder and more mean-spirited in the ''Shoujo Conte All Starlight'' chibi series as they not only bemoan and whine over having to go through the Auditions ''again'', they also go out of their way to either ignore Elle or disregard her completely while she's in their presence and make it clear to her that they're only going through with what she's doing because she won't stop crying until they compete.
* AdaptationalNiceGuy: They're much less aggressively vicious and brutally competitive towards each other in the anime compared to their stage play counterparts and are depicted as being very close friends right from the beginning.
* TheChosenMany: The first stage play and its print adaptation ''The Show Must Go On'' refers to them (sans Hikari, who had yet to transfer at that point) as the "Selected Group". Thanks to its diverse staff and impressive facilities, Siegfeld is highly regarded as an elite school with more than an impressive reputation.


As part of the school's tradition, it rewards its most talented students with special privileges and bestows upon them the title of "Edel"[[labelnote:Translation]]"Noble"[[/labelnote]], which itself is divided into five different subtitles, classified by ranks, all of which are named after jewels.

The Edels are also composed of two second years and three underclassmen in their lineup, whereas the 99th Class of Seisho are all classmates in the same year.
** As the main pair of their school, Akira and Michiru also serve as this to Karen and Hikari, who are also childhood friends who made a promise to stand on stage together in a playground, right down to being inspired by a special play that's performed annually in their present schools. The main difference between them and the two main leads of Seisho however, is that instead of just wanting to be onstage together, Michiru makes an additional promise of becoming the best support Akira could ever have, so that the latter can become the best "king" and Frau Platin in Siegfeld's history. Not only that, she's also one of the very few people capable of pushing even ''Maya'' back in the Auditions. A third year from Siegfeld's middle school department and Fumi's younger sister. She used to be sickly often due to her weak body and was unable to attend many lessons previously as a result. However, she distinguishes herself from most stage girls by being able to overcome her health problems and quickly catch up with the others in spite of this. During Siegfeld's School Story, she is the latest addition to the school's elite Edels and is designated the title of "Frau Jade" after its previous title holder left the position sometime prior.

It hilariously comes back with a vengeance during the White Day event in ''[=ReLIVE=]'' when she has to teach Ichie how to cook on her own for a surprise they plan on giving Tamao.

First off, their schools of choice. Fumi originally chose to be in Rinmeikan, a school that lost its prestige long ago, to study in its General Education course after losing her love for the stage before Tamao came to her. Hikari on the other hand still ended up transferring to another prestigious performing arts school (Seisho) to continue pursuing her dreams. While Fumi needed to have Tamao encourage her to stand onstage once again, all it took for Hikari to be motivated was the Giraffe mentioning that Karen might also participate in the Auditions and mostly came back by herself for her friend's sake. Fumi is constantly shown to be [[PerpetualPoverty tight on her savings]] and tries not to rely on her parents much. Hikari meanwhile is heavily implied to be pretty well-off [[note]] she ''did'' study in ''two'' prestigious academies after all (and one is in London even), and in ''4koma Starlight'', she's shown together with the richer half of her class[[/note]] and is sometimes dependent on either Mahiru or Karen to do simple tasks. ** To Mahiru: Both are older sisters who are looked up to by their younger siblings, share the same green color motif, become attached to and admire a certain person who reached out to them in their time of need (Karen and Tamao for Mahiru and Fumi respectively) and are caring towards their peers, but while Mahiru is somewhat shy and low on self-confidence, at least in the beginning, Fumi was formerly smug and arrogant during her days as Frau Jade in Siegfeld. Mahiru eventually grows to become more self-confident in herself during her Revue against Karen in the anime while Fumi, in the past, experienced a series of several BreakTheHaughty moments [[spoiler: due to her resentment of Shiori]] that led to her leaving Siegfeld. * TallPoppySyndrome: Hisame's strength lies in singing, and her distinctive voice was what made Nana take notice of her even before they first met. But standing out in a choir, she points out, is not a good thing when the emphasis is on harmony. The other choir members telling Hisame that her voice and Nana's are not harmonizing well, which she already knew yet refused to admit, coupled with her realization that Nana's singing has an "individuality" she lacks, prompted Hisame to quit the show she was working on with Nana. Ironically, unbeknownst to Hisame, Nana would later [[CrouchingMoronHiddenBadass temper her own ambition and hide the true extent of her ability]] at Seishou.

* ClingyJealousGirl: It's implied in the game that Kaoruko dislikes sharing Futaba with just anyone, if her reactions to Futaba secretly rehearsing with Claudine and Futaba giving Maya a joyride on her motorcycle are anything.
