* GenreSavvy: At least with regards to the "slice-of-life" aspects of the story. Ike gets increasingly annoyed at Yuji as the story progresses for how much of a ChickMagnet he turns out to be and how ObliviousToLove he is, and even [[WhatTheHellHero calls him out]] on it.

* DangerouslyGenreSavvy: He lures Yuji, Shana, Wilhelmina, and Margery Daw into a single location where he unleashes a devastating surprise attack on them through two levels of decoys. The first level of the decoy was the Crimson Denizen Zarovee's luring them to a relatively small spot with the hope of having the more powerful Denizen Bifrons unleash his own surprise attack to destroy them. Turns out, this was the second level of the decoy, as Sabrac's attack had a much wider area of effect than Bifrons'. When Shana and company manage to separate Sabrac from his massive reservoir of Power of Existence, he uses a Treasure Tool provided by Bel Peol (Gordian Knot) which allows him to escape while tricking Shana and the others into thinking that Shana's killing strike succeeded. Then, after discovering the Flame Hazes now have a countermeasure to his spell Stigma, he recreates it in a more powerful form known as Stigmata, upon which the countermeasure does not work. Later, when Wilhelmina, Khamsin, and Rebecca pursue Snake of the Festival Yuji and the Trinity into the Abyss, he confronts them on a part of the Path of Pilgrimage infused with his Power of Existence. They cannot separate him from this reservoir, because it would cause that part of the Path of Pilgrimage to collapse, sending them to their deaths in the Abyss. This also prevents Khamsin from using the surrounding environment to form his Ceremonial Equipment, the {{Humongous|Mecha}} {{Golem}} armor (for a while, anyway, before Sabrac neutralizes ''that'' as well). In the same battle, he uses a Rinne copy to get the drop on Rebecca, severely wounding her. [[spoiler: Ultimately, the Flame Hazes only prevail because the Snake of the Festival's body emerges from its prison, distracting him long enough for Rebecca to blast Sabrac into the Abyss. Even then, Sabrac would have survived, had he not chose to die.]]

* PowerNullifier: His Unrestricted Spell Stigma is applied to his swords, which nullify a Flame Haze's HealingFactor on any wounds caused by said swords. Stigma actually causes the wound to rapidly worsen as well. Wilhelmina and Shana use bandages specifically devised by [[GadgeteerGenius Johann]] to cancel out Stigma, but by their next encounter Sabrac has altered Stigma (now called Stigmata) so that [[DangerouslyGenreSavvy the bandages no longer work]].

Added DiffLines:

* StarterVillain: While he's not the first Crimson Lord Shana has faced in her lifetime, plot-wise, Friagne is the first villain to present a major threat to Misaki City and the first to be defeated by Shana in tandem with Yuji. Once he's dispatched, he along with Marianne are never heard from again. [[spoiler:Only the ring and altar he leaves behind would prove significant to the plot later on.]]
