* BadBoss: He's not very caring or kind towards Grimsby, but unlike a lot of other examples, he at least has some respect for him.
* DisproportionateRetribution: He puts all of Sombertown under a "No Toys Allowed" rule because he tripped on one and broke his foot.
* FatalFlaw: His hatred of children. Not only does this land him the first "rebellious" denizens to challenge his rule (or at least he sees it that way), but his lack of an heir [[spoiler: winds up doing in his entire lineage]].
* HateSink: Aside from comically injuring himself, he has no redeemable qualities to him whatsoever. The Bumble and Professor Hinkle from the previous Rankin-Bass specials at least had some likable traits and both underwent a HeelFaceTurn, but Meisterburger never takes any opportunity to change, and [[spoiler: dies out as a result]].
