* BadassNormal: Starts out as one of these. This trope is a little problematic in SamuraiDeeperKyo because the line between "natural" and "supernatural" barely exists.

Added DiffLines:

* KingIncognito: The son of Tokugawa Ieyasu and heir to the Tokugawa Shogunate...masquerading as simple thug.

Added DiffLines:

* MagnificentBastard: His tactical and strategic skills are such that Ieyasu would rather bribe him than have him as an enemy. At the end of the series, he successfully anticipates the Former Crimson King's plan and has already had Okuni rally together the combined forces of the Tokugawa, the Sanada, and the Date to contain the King's blood soldiers and keep them from rampaging out into the human world.

Added DiffLines:

* TheQuietOne: Ironically, given that he's the main character, Kyo is probably one of the least talkative characters in the series. He might have the occasional monologue or mid-fight banter, but those punctuate long stretches of silence, usually accompanied by other characters talking about the things he's doing. We also almost never see thought-bubbles from him, unlike most other characters.

Added DiffLines:

* FriendToAllChildren: He appears to Kyo surrounded by cute Mibu tykes whom he happily allows to climb all over him. He also explains that the reason the Mibu became gods in the first place was because he wanted his children to lead happy and untroubled lives.

Added DiffLines:

* IaijutsuPractitioner: You wouldn't think it, considering Hakuya's size and shape, but many of Hishigi's attacks are Iaijutsu-based, with him attacking on the draw and immediately returning the sword to its sheath afterwards, possibly because of the limitations resulting from the Death Disease destroying a substantial portion of the left side of his body.

Added DiffLines:

** His introduction has him save a low-level Mibu mook from Tokito's sadistic torment by intercepting Tokito's thrown cards in mid-air so fast that they simply seem to vanish before they can hit their target.

Added DiffLines:

* SwordBeam: Many of his attacks with Hakuya take this form. At one point he fires off seven of them with a single swing.

Added DiffLines:

* BifurcatedWeapon: The Hokuto Shichisei, which resembles a narrow double-edged sword actually splits into two blades.

Added DiffLines:

* DeathDealer: When she's not swinging around her inherited Muramasa blade, she's using her Tarot cards to slice and dice anyone unfortunate enough to cross her.

Added DiffLines:

* FailureToSaveMurder: He believes himself guilty of one, in the case of Mahiro's sister. Chinmei killed her, but Kyo never tells Mahiro because he believes he really is to blame because he couldn't save her.

* BlondGuysAreEvil: In the anime, at least when he's acting as Ajira. His hair is actually more reddish in the manga (by the end, anyway. Kamijyo can't seem to decide what color his hair is at first, and it goes from silver/white to blond before finally settling on red).

* ThirdPersonPerson: He tends to refer to himself as Maro, which is likely his real name.
** On the other hand it could be a very antiquated personal pronoun.

* TheDreaded: Yuan describes him as an "incredibly efficient executioner", and once says that the reason no one knows how he fights is that no one has ever faced him one on one and survived. His arrival is usually an OhCrap moment for the protagonists.

* BadassFamily: Yuan's mother was one of the Four Elders, and his father is the greatest swordsmith in Mibu history (he was Muramasa's master). And then there's Yuan's "personal guard"... AKA eight of his siblings. Some of them are goofy -- all of them are badass. Anna even scares Yuan himself. His older brother Anri is the infamous "Tengu of Mt Kurama", who developed the Sekireigan and taught it to Yukimura.

* BadassFamily: Yuan's Yuan himself is a LightningBruiser capable of such powerful physical attacks that the force of air moving from his kicks can cut like a blade. He's also the only character shown holding his own against Hishigi (for a while, anyway) before Kyo unlocks another level. * BewareTheSillyOnes: She's an odd one, but underestimating her is a huge mistake. Kyo, our favorite arrogant BloodKnight who has never admitted he's outmatched at this point, tells Sasuke that Shihodo is one of the few people he "just can't handle".

* CoolSword: Her Kusanagi-no-Tsurugi (yes, that one) which she can use to summon clouds capable of eating through enemy attacks.
