* CerebusRetcon: In ''The Conners'' he's stated to have been an abusive bastard who forgot all about Dan and his mom once he had another family and it's shown that he deliberately kept Dan away from his half siblings out of spite, when in Roseanne he was a friendly guy who had a strained but loving relationship with Dan and his second family came when Dan was already an adult.

* WholesomeCrossdresser: As a child he liked to wear skirts and other "girly" things. By his early teens his style had evolved away from that but still tends to wear buttoned-up clothes on the colorful side.

Dan Conner is the husband of Roseanne [[spoiler:(and later, Louise)]] as well as the father of Becky, Darlene, DJ, and Jerry. In the beginning of the series, Dan is an easygoing drywall contractor, but he takes up a variety of jobs (interspersed with period of unemployment) to keep the family afloat. Many years later, he finally retires his drywall business after coming to terms with the fact that he’s getting too old to continue doing the job. He instead becomes the co-owner of a hardware store with [[spoiler: Darlene’s post-divorce boyfriend, Ben]].

* BigBeautifulMan: Dan is a beefy guy who is also a ChickMagnet.

* DentedIron: In the revival, Dan is still a big guy, but age has obviously taken its toll on him.

* PapaWolf: Dan is a down-to-earth, laid back, all-around nice guy, until you harm, threaten to harm, or screw over his wife, children, or sister-in-law. Once that happens, run. Just... run. One memorable episode has Dan going to beat up Becky's boss after he insults her. Too bad Mark gets there first.

* PluckyComicRelief: In season 10 of ''Roseanne'', and on ''The Conners''.
* ReallyGetsAround: A virginal example earlier on in ''Roseanne's'' original run - she did bounce around from boy-to-boy (at one point, even leaving a very awkward dinner with her and her boyfriend's parents to go sneak out with ''another'' boy from school) up until she met Mark. After that, aside from a ''very'' brief breakup, and some flirting with David, she and Mark were implied to be together up until he died. She's possibly back to this as of ''The Conners.'' At the very least, she's having sex with both her manager ''and'' another co-worker at her job.

* TeensAreShort: Averted, despite casting an adult actress to play teenage Harris. Emma Kenney is 5'7", above-average height for a woman and taller than either of her character's parents.

* TeensAreShort: Averted hard - at 12 years old, Mark towers over his mother (Sara Gilbert is 5'3") and is nearly the height of his 18-year-old sister (Emma Kenney is 5'7").
