* MagicallyIneptFighter: Both Ninjask and Shedinja have passable Attack stats at base 90, but their Special Attack stats are terrible -- 50 for Ninjask, and ''30'' for Shedinja, the same as its pre-evolution.

* ExtremeDoormat: Delcatty is stated to be extremely passive and submissive in its Pokédex entries, to the point of simply leaving without a fight if approached by another Pokémon.

* ArmoredButFrail: Mega Mawile has a solid 125 Defense alongside a great defensive typing, but its base HP is the same as regular Mawile's, at just 50.

* CrutchCharacter: In ''Ruby'', Mawile is found early in the game for a Steel-type, and can be quite hard for opponents to take out that early. However, its very low stats will cause it to struggle later on, and other, stronger Steel-types will become available to overshadow it.

* FromNobodyToNightmare: Regular Mawile has mostly bad stats with nothing to make it stand out, unlike Sableye with its lack of weaknesses and its ActionInitiative. Mega Mawile, meanwhile, had the highest attack stat in the game and resists 11 out of the 18 types in the game.

* DiscardAndDraw: Sceptile gains the Dragon-Type when it Mega Evolves, eliminating its Fire Weakness and becoming even more resistant against Water-, Grass- and Electric-Type attacks. It also gains the Lightning Rod ability, becoming immune to Electric attacks completely while boosting its Special Attack. At the same time, Mega Sceptile becomes vulnerable to Dragon- and Fairy-Type attacks, and becomes very weak to Ice-Type moves.
