* ButtMonkey: In the intro movie, he's casually thrown away by Heihachi, who then laughs about it. While Dante's not the only character to be attacked by someone who isn't their {{rival}}, it's the only time attention is specifically drawn to it. Patch 1.07 also changed his portrait from a cocky smirk to a disappointed frown after his game failed to meet {{Creator/Capcom}}'s sales expectations.

* TheBusCameBack: Polygon Man hadn't been seen since his incredibly brief advertising campaign for the UsefulNotes/PlayStation in 1995. Polygon Man was, in the words of Phil Harrison, "taken out back into the car park and quietly shot" due to Sony CEO Ken Kutaragi's appalled reaction to the character's design, which he had no involvement in creating. So his return in this game was indeed a huge surprise.
