* AdaptationalBadass: While Usopp is still one who prefers avoiding fights, his cowardice is nowhere near as pronounced this time around. Instead he's shown to be more tactical than his combat-loving crewmates.

* AdaptationalCurves: He's a rail-thin pretty boy in the manga, but a muscular hunk in the live action series.

* AdaptationalHeroism: In the original series, Luffy makes clear that he admires heroes, but has no desire to be one; while he does often fight for other people, he generally only does so after seeing that they're willing to stand up for themselves (or if they had previously given him food), and is fine with ignoring their plight otherwise. Here, he has a much more standard sense of heroism, helping people just because it's the right thing to do.

* UnskilledButStrong: As in the manga and anime, Luffy starts the story being already a devil fruit user and a rubber man, which also grants him superhuman abilities. However, his fighting style is basically wildly throwing fists and kicks while relying on his powers. While it usually works for him, he finds himself in trouble when fighting enemies who are stronger (Arlong) or smarter (Kuro) than him. Played with, since Luffy still displays control and creativity over his powers, and flashbacks show he did train himself to control his stretching abilities, plus he did receive training from his grandfather admiral Garp.

* AdaptationalJerkass: Downplayed, given that Zoro was already one of the most rude and cold members of the crew, both in the anime and manga. However, this version of Zoro is even more cold and abbrasive than his original counterpart, barely smiling or joking around his crewmates as he usually does in the anime/manga. He is also far less feeling or considerate with the rest of the crew, coldly rejecting the help or worry from Nami (when she tried to stop him from going through his death match against Mihawk) or Sanji (when the cook expressed genuine worry about his state while fighting Arlong's fish men).

* StrongAndSkilled: Zoro is one of the best swordmman in the world, the very best of the East Blue to be specific, and is also one of the strongest members of the crew along Luffy and Sanji. Unfortunately for him, Mihawk just happens to be way more powerful and skilled.

* DudeMagnet: Nami is a very beautiful woman and gets the attention of several men through the season, both marines and pirates. And of course, Sanji falls in love with her immediatly.

* MsFanservice: While she's [[TamerAndChaster not as sexualized as she was in the manga]], Buggy does come close to remarking that she has a nice ass. She also attracts the attention of several men with her beauty, which she is not above to take advantage of.

* AdaptationalHeroism: Downplayed since Sanji wasn't a villain in the original manga, but still present. While Sanji in the anime and manga is a good person, he is still a pervert that regularly harasses women while also being an asshole with men most of the time, sometimes implying he values women's lives more than men (including his own male crewmates). Sanji here is depicted as being respectful to both women and men, even if he still flirts with women a lot, and overall is never a jerk toward men unless they give him a reason to. He also decides to help Luffy the moment he hears Zoro is in danger, for no other reason besides Zoro being someone important to Luffy, while the original Sanji has been unsympathetic or uncaring to the well-being of his male crewmates several times.

* StrongAndSkilled: Sanji is a very skilled martial artist who can fight only using his legs, as well as being powerful enough to keep up, and defeat, several fish men, even though they all have superhuman abilities. Luffy is quite impressed by his combat skills as well.

* AdaptationalHeroism: Downplayed since Sanji wasn't a villain in the original source, but still present. While Sanji in the anime and manga is a good person, he is still a pervert that regularly harass women while also being an asshole with men most of the time, sometimes implying he values women's lives more than men (including his own male crewmates). Sanji here is depicted as being respectful to both women and men, even if he still flirts with women a lot, and overal is never a jerk toward men unless they give him a reason to. Sanji still contains some of his main characteristics like his romantic and lecherous tendencies, falling for Nami and any other attractive woman at first glance, and his incredible skills in cooking and martial arts. However, he has probably the most noticeable changes to his character than the other Straw Hats. For example, he's portrayed as less of a JerkWithAHeartOfGold and more of a pleasant gentleman who only shows some irritation to those that really get on his nerves like Zeff. His lecherous and over-the-top affections for women are significantly toned down as Sanji comes off as far less creepy and more suave and gentleman-like. His affections towards Nami and other ladies are more mildly flirtatious than outright stalker like too and shows far more respect for others women's boundaries.
