* IncorruptiblePurePureness: Despite his appearance and outright evil intentions, [[spoiler:he and King Leonhard were so pure that Doloran was unable to corrupt them, so he settled for Vermine to very slowly corrupt Mausinger and lead him astray, albeit he notably is the only one who doesn't exude a dark aura unlike the rest of the kings]].

* TheLastOfTheseIsNotLikeTheOthers: Lofty is tiny compared to other kingmakers. [[spoiler: That's because he's not a Great Beast fused with a willing sacrifice to turn them good; but a [[OurFairiesAreDifferent fairy]] from the Spirit World who wanted to help. He says this if you randomly talk to him at the very end of the game. This makes his ability to turn into a Eastern Dragon even more impressive.]]

** If one watches the scene of his disappearance closely, one even sees how his wounds are healed and he becomes younger.

* TheAce: Roland is a master swordsman, marksman, strategist and administrator. His skill with a sword is enough that the Black Knight has to rely on black magic to deal with him. As a politician and strategist, his level is such that some of Mausinger's ministers as well as Mausinger himself consider him a supreme asset to any kingdom he would serve.

* [[FallenPrincess Fallen Prince]]: He becomes this at the beginning of the game due to Mausinger's coup d'etat.

* TheGoodChancellor: To Evan. Arguably, he is technically Evan's regent, as he is the one making the laws. His loyalty is such that he [[spoiler:declares ''[[DidYouJustFlipOffCthulhu to Mausinger's face while being threatened]]'' that the Mark of Kings of Ding Dong Dell "(…) belongs to the king. ''My'' king."]]

* AWizardDidIt: Roland's circumstances in showing up in another world are beyond extraordinary. After some musing out loud to himself, he decides that whether it's a dream or if he's a living ghost doesn't matter; he'll just accept the rules of this new world and not question it.

* IChooseToStay: A surprisingly early example, since Roland promises this right after Mausinger's coup d'etat. Although Roland initially wonders if there's a way back, he assures Evan that he will stay in the other world with Evan after seeing how truly alone Evan is in the world once they escape the castle.

* SwordAndGun: While Roland is primarily a swordsman, he can use a gun as part of his arsenal.

* BoobsofSteel: Has the largest (or at least most noticeable) busts out of all the female characters in the game, and happens to wield [[Main/AnAxetoGrind axes]] and [[Main/DroptheHammer hammers]] about as big as her.

* LongHairedPrettyBoy: According to a few women in the game, especially an assistant in the Goldpaw library. Boddly even calls him "pretty man" to his face! He is also the only heroic character in the game with ''black'' hair.

** BadassLongCoat: Most of his outfits are these. Double bonus goes to the Chief Consul's Coat, which is gold-trimmed black and [[PurpleIsPowerful purple]].

** {{Facepalm}}: His reaction to Goldpaw's custom of having affairs of state decided by the roll of the dice as the party invites Goldpaw to sign up on the Declaration of Interdependence.
* DidntSeeThatComing[=/=]SpannerInTheWorks: Roland literally appears out of the blue in a shower of lights in Evan's room … right before Mausinger's coup d'état. His presence (and unwillingness to have a child murdered on his watch) completely derails Mausinger's plan for killing Evan, who had every ''other'' way of entry to the royal quarters covered.

** SwordAndGun: While Roland is primarily a swordsman, he can use a gun as part of his arsenal.
** TheMusketeer: He wields a gun and a sword but never at the same time; sometimes though he uses them in short succession.

** DarkIsNotEvil: One of Roland's few elemental skills is a massive dark-elemental gravity bullet that is a pain for any flying enemy. It gets straight to gigantic if you add some dark-elemental Higgledies (or [[SuperMode Awakening]]).
** KillItWithFire: Roland's most powerful skill, ''Executive Order'', is a long combo attack that wraps his slashes in flames and ends with a massive fireball fired from his gun. Add Higgledies (or Awakening), and Roland turns into a veritable flame hurricane.
