Bonus points for the fact that even in their Academy days, although Naruto didn't consider him one of his TrueCompanions back then, Shikamaru was one of the few people in their age group (the others being Kiba and Choji) who Naruto seemed to get on well enough with to actually spend time in his company. Not quite friendship then (more like friendly acquaintance), but it forms further basis for one when the series began and they (along with the rest of the Konoha 11) gradually become FireForgedFriends. Ironically, it might be Naruto's most normal friendship in the manga.

* PimpedOutDress: She is put in a black Gothic inspired one for [[spoiler:her wedding to Toneri]] after being [[HypnotizeThePrincess turned into one of his puppets]]; upon being freed from the mind-control by Naruto, she turns this into a BattleBallgown.

* BigBrotherInstinct: Kiba has became very close to Hinata and acts brotherly toward her, but tends to worry about her, urging her to be strong before the second phase of the exam, and to forfeit rather than face a dangerous opponent.

* FirstGirlAfterAll: She was introduced in Chunin Exams arc (except in the anime, where she had a cameo in episode 1), thus technically making Sakura the First Girl. * HiddenBuxom: She was busty even as a 12-year-old, as shown by the clothes she wore for the third part of the Chunin Exams and her infamous midnight dance on a pond in the anime. However, she wears a baggy coat to hide it, befitting her shy personality. It's most noticeable when Sakura takes off said coat to heal her during the end of Naruto's fight with Pain. She's been the most... gifted of her peers for a long time. Taken to GagBoobs levels in the ''Prologue to Road to Ninja'', where she tries to hide them in the bath house because they keep floating and the other girls envy her.

PlayedWith, as Hinata was the heiress of the illustrious Hyuga clan and probably the closest Konoha had to a princess after Tsunade left, while [[spoiler:Naruto]] was the village pariah. However, by the time their romance actually ''starts'' during ''The Last'', [[spoiler:Naruto]] had already become the HomegrownHero who had ''saved the world'', along with (presumably) being revealed as [[spoiler:the son of the Fourth Hokage]]. Even if anyone wanted to object a relationship between them, they couldn't because [[spoiler:Naruto's]] credentials and achievements far outstripped any possible obstacles in regards to his social status. In fact, one could argue that ''Hinata'' is the one marrying above her station. However, it's ultimately {{Zig Zagged}} because she's still a member of the Hyuga clan's main branch and she became [[spoiler:the ''Byakugan Princess'']] in ''The Last'', so despite [[spoiler:Naruto's]] credentials and achievements, Hinata is still considered royalty by the time they get together.

* IDieFree: As he dies, the Caged Bird Seal, symbol of his servitude to the main branch of the Hyuga clan, fades away.
