* BattleButler: Funnily enough he behaves like this when around Shun, constantly looking out for his safety. The "battle" portion should be obvious given his profession, though a more specific example is when he wants to beat the tar out of Hiroyuki for saying something foolish, but politely asks Shun for permission first the way a servant would do for his master.

The "battle" portion should be obvious given his profession, though a more specific example is when he wants to beat the tar out of Hiroyuki for saying something foolish, but politely asks Shun for permission first the way a servant would do for his master. It turns out this is because he is part of a branch family of the Kodori family, specifically bred to be powerful bodyguards for members of the core family.

* RichBitch: By and large an [[AvertedTrope aversion]]. Shin is indeed loaded and enjoys many luxuries as a result, but he doesn't flaunt it much and prefers to be treated like a normal person most of the time. Most of his perception as this trope comes more from him sometimes being an aloof InsufferableGenius and people linking this to his privileged lifestyle, but as you learn in his route he dislikes being viewed this way. For example, he will actually be offended when Hiroyuki is shocked to find out his favorite candy to buy from the local store is one of the cheapest, despite him having access to gourmet cooking at home and being a skilled maker of sweets himself. This is also true in regards being part of the group; he could easily handle all expenses and arrangements for everything they want to do, but doesn't, and when he ''does'' do this he prefers not to draw too much attention to it.

* VagueAge: As a consequence of being the AudienceSurrogate, Hiroyuki has no specified canon age and the player is left to fill in the blanks. [[SubvertedTrope However]], logically he should be in the ballpark of the age range of his friends given he went to school with most of them, and it can be gleaned from certain in-game dialogue that he is canonically 17-18, player preferences notwithstanding.

It's even lampshaded by Hiroyuki how his dynamic with Shin is less that of a master & servant and more like family, and Shin admits that the only time Amaki ''does'' act more like a servant is when he wants to be funny. [[spoiler:Near the end of Shin's route he even calls a meeting with Hiroyuki that's comparable to that of a parent getting acquainted with their child's boyfriend, fittingly enough.]]

* NotSoAboveItAll: As serious and brutal as he presents himself, he is NotSoDifferent from Shun in that he will wag his tail when in a good mood.

* YoungerThanTheyLook: Maybe even more extreme a case than his student. Would you ever believe ''this'' guy is only 18?!

* TheBabyOfTheBunch: If you don't count Soutarou. Even then, he generally acts more outwardly mature than Soutarou and the game often goes out of its way to make him appear younger than he is, so players who don't know the cast's canon ages would be forgiven for thinking he's the youngest. It doesn't help that he's also shorter than Soutarou despite being a year older.

* IHaveNoSon: How he feels about Gaku, presumably because [[spoiler:Gaku doesn't approve of their family's reverence to tradition]]. By the end of Shun's route [[spoiler:things aren't fully patched up between them, but they're at least on better terms thanks to Shun]].
*TheGhost: Has no character portrait, is only referred to by other characters and is never encountered directly at all. You ''almost'' meet him towards the end of Shun's route, but [[spoiler:Gaku stops Hiroyuki before he can so Shun can speak with Iwao alone]].

* CovertPervert: He seems to have a habit of misinterpretting innocent things as something more risque, with the biggest example being during the camping trip, where everyone is talking about their teeth brushing habits but he thinks they're talking about [[ADateWithRosiePalms masturbating]]. He does it ''again'' in an encounter at the local library, where while Hiroyuki is talking with Shin about writing, he makes an accompanying gesture that Juuichi thinks is meant to imply that same trope.

* TeamDad: Is the more hands-on aspect of this trope, contrasting with Kyouji's more laid-back, advise-giving version. He's the quickest to crack down on shenanigans (primarily from Tatsuki or Torahiko), usually handles bringing supplies for trips, and prefers to pay himself whenever going out to eat with friends. In his route he looks after Hiroyuki's wellbeing quite a lot, not unlike a parental figure at times.

* IAmNotWeasel: As stated above, he doesn't like being called a wolf.

* BigBrotherInstinct: His methods and concerns may be up for question, but he's rarely seen doing something that isn't part of his plans to protect Shun.

to:

* BlackSheep: He is this in relation to the rest of the Kodori family, and ''especially'' as far as Iwao is concerned. [[spoiler:It's because he disapproves of their staunch adherence to tradition]], though he relents somewhat by the end of Shun's route, even [[spoiler:taking Shun's place as Miko in the annual festival and moving back to Minasato to become closer to his family.]]
* BigBrotherInstinct: His methods and concerns may be up for question, but he's rarely seen doing something that isn't part of his plans to protect Shun. One of the more reasonable examples of this is when he travels all the way from Kazenari to Minasato just to bring dinner to Hiroyuki and Shun after [[spoiler:the latter faints from exhaustion]].

Added DiffLines:

* CreepyGood: Mostly due to his demeanor and him being a WellIntentionedExtremist. He takes some ''very'' questionably measures in pursuit of his goal to look out for Shun, including giving Shun (and unknowingly, Hiroyuki) a book belonging to the Kodori family detailing ''sexual activities'' that he wants Shun to engage in, seemingly jumping Hiroyuki in the night to ensure that [[spoiler:Shun gets to reconsile with his grandfather one-on-one]], and even [[spoiler:sexually stimulating Shun himself to teach him how to make love with Hiroyuki]]. It's very clear by the end of Shun's route that Gaku just wants his cousin to be happy, but for whatever reason he seems to think the best way to do so is to set things up for [[YouNeedToGetLaid Shun to get laid]].

Added DiffLines:

* ShipperOnDeck: In his own peculiar way, he seems to want Hiroyuki and Shun to hook up.
* VillainousCheekbones: One component of his notably more ghoulish appearance is that he has these, making him look malnourished. [[SubvertedTrope He's not evil though, just creepy]].
