to:
* WhatHappenedToTheMouse WhatHappenedToTheMouse: Originally he was a minor case of this; while he was never seen or mentioned again after [[spoiler:[=LeChuck's=] fortress was destroyed]], it was fairly easy to presume that he just died in the explosion. However, the Special Edition makes things more ambiguous by just having [[spoiler:the fortress damaged somewhat by the explosion rather than being completely destroyed]], presumably to leave the way open for Largo to appear in future games.

Why Do You Keep Changing Jobs has been renamed because of misuse. Misuse and Zero Context Examples will be cut.
* WhyDoYouKeepChangingJobs: Either to avoid angry customers, or because of something Guybrush did.

* DudeWheresMyRespect: He has a very impressive pirate rap sheet, but no one treats him like a pirate worthy of respect. Probably because it's Guybrush.

* Solitary Sorceress: Fits the bill in three games: in ''[[VideoGame/MonkeyIsland2LeChucksRevenge LeChuck's Revenge]]'', ''[[VideoGame/TheCurseOfMonkeyIsland Curse]]'' and ''[[VideoGame/TalesOfMonkeyIsland Tales]]'', she lives in a place remote enough that Guybrush will find her somewhere around the end of the first act, around when he gains the [[OpeningTheSandbox freedom to move around the game world]]. However, in the original ''[[VideoGame/TheSecretOfMonkeyIsland Secret]]'' and ''[[VideoGame/EscapeFromMonkeyIsland Escape]]'', she lives right in the middle of Mle town and is accessible right away.

* DamselOutOfDistress: For those few times when she is captured, she gets herself out of trouble. Notably, in the first game, Guybrush actually inadvertently messes up one of her plans by trying to rescue her.

* {{Adorkable}}
to:
* {{Adorkable}}{{Adorkable}}: He is quintessentially adorkable. His first line ever includes an overly exuberant "I wanna be a pirate!" - immediately exposing his adorkable lack of gruff and tough pirate attitude. In his first meeting with the beautiful pirate governor Elaine, he loses all power to speak coherently, uttering words like "blggw" and "dmnkly" (as the game was initially released in 1990, the jokes were in text).

* ButtMonkey
to:
* ButtMonkeyButtMonkey: He is always a bit of this, but in ''VideoGame/TheSecretOfMonkeyIsland'' and ''VideoGame/TheCurseOfMonkeyIsland'' this is overshadowed by his good nature and occasional heroism. In ''VideoGame/EscapeFromMonkeyIsland'', on the other hand, he is constant running joke, either with his efforts falling flat and being made fun of for it, or being mocked by every other character in the game (a great deal of which seems to go over his head). And let's not even get started on his treatment in [=LeChuck's=] Revenge, which seemed determined to make him an unlikeable JerkAss as well as an ([[IronButtMonkey Iron]]) ButtMonkey.

* [[WhyDidItHaveToBeSnakes Why Did It Have to Be Porcelain?]]
to:
* [[WhyDidItHaveToBeSnakes Why Did It Have WhyDidItHaveToBeSnakes: Of the porcelain (porcophobia?). Speculated to Be Porcelain?]]have been caused by being hit over the head with a porcelain vase in the [[VideoGame/TheSecretOfMonkeyIsland first game]]. The developers have said they added this just as a gag - after all, who is scared of porcelain? Referenced in ''VideoGame/TalesOfMonkeyIsland Episode 1: Launch Of The Screaming Narwhal'', when you have to pick up a porcelain action figure. Guybrush grits his teeth and reassures himself "Calm down, Guybrush, it's only a little porcelain..."

* TheOtherDarrin: But only for one game, after which the original voice actress returned.
