* MeaningfulName: His codename is an anagram of "If I see a sunset", and in the first opening he is seen walking at sunset.

The resident sniper of Celestial Being and the pilot of Gundam Dynames. Lockon acts like a big bro towards the rest of the Meisters, and is the most easy going, accompanied with a Haro. [[DarkAndTroubledPast His past is dark]], as he was a survivor of a terrorist attack (initiated by the same group Setsuna was under). Lockon eventually got to know better and directed his anger to Ali Al-Saachez. Unfortunately, when fighting Ali himself, Lockon was badly wounded and was eventually killed, but not after he shot down Ali's Throne Zwei, severely ruining the machine and considerably put him out of action for a good while.

In the second season, Neil's twin younger brother Lyle, a member of Kataron, took the name of Lockon Stratos and pilots the successor of Dynames: the Gundam Cherudim. He's just as skilled as his predecessor, but at first he [[ObfuscatingStupidity tends to act as if he knows nothing about piloting]] (though later, he shows a more intense and emotional side).

* EvenTheGuysWantHim: Lots of fanboys go weak at the knees for him. [[StupidSexyFlanders Stupid Sexy Lockon]] indeed. [[spoiler:Tieria alone can be a proof to this.]]

NiceGuy: It takes a special brand of kindness to [[DefrostingIceQueen defrost Tieria]].
* NiceGuysFinishLast: Averted, at least where [[ShrinkingViolet Feldt]] and (according to some interpretations) [[Tsundere Tieria]] are concerned.
%%* OurHeroIsDeadOurHeroIsDead: The cause of Tieria's and Setsuna's HeroicBSOD's

* DoubleAgent: For Kataron; subverted in that his CB comrades know he's a double agent and don't care. If anything, his role as DoubleAgent mostly meant that Kataron, had a man in a group that they knew had stronger guns than they did, and was pretty much CB's unspoken ally; at no point were CB and Kataron openly at odds with each other.
** BecomingTheMask: At the finale, he finally embraces his identity as a Gundam Meister and left Kataron, though by that point, it had already disbanded.

* TheUnfavorite: One that doesn't even need a family to be it. [[spoiler:He's finally accepted by the CB people in episode 13 of season 2. Almost got subverted after Setsuna [[ShootTheDog killed his brainwashed girlfriend Anew]] to save him, but he ''did'' calm down.]]

* {{Hypocrite}}: One of the early episode, he was nearly captured and forced to pull his Gundam's trump card to escape. Once Celestial Being regroups, he chides Sumeragi for her botched forecasting even though she pretty much admits to the blunder. Lockon calls him out on it and how [[NeverMyFault he's not fussing up to his own mistakes]].
