'''Chris Jacobs''' is a bitter, cynical and amoral individual. Chris sees only three kinds of people: the ignorant masses, their corrupt leaders and enterprising individuals who manipulate and exploit both. He laughs at the notion that this can change, at the people ignorant enough to believe this, and he has no expectations that the state of the world as it is will be improving any time soon. However, he nevertheless maintains a pleasant and likeable disposition to others, and his idealistic self has not completely died. While these traits would make him a liability in a regular army, it makes him a perfect mercenary and solo-operative. He never seems to become attached to anyone, leaving his ultimate loyalty in question.

* CannedOrdersOverLoudspeaker: His favorite method of speaking to the rest of the world is by having his cronies recite threats of violence and rhetoric glorifying himself and his armies. [[DevelopersForesight The propaganda even differs depending on which region you're in,]] such as insulting the AN's armies while in territories with their presence or offering a new car to citizens who kill a Russian mobster in areas where TheMafiya are known to operate.
* FlunkyBoss: His Bounty mission is essentially a giant MarathonLevel where your objective is to get past his vanguard into his final holdout, first by spearheading with an AN tank platoon, then racing against the clock up the rest of the mountain to the missile base, THEN fighting through a gauntlet of EliteMooks to reach him and disable the missiles' warheads before finally taking him down. As far as Song himself goes, there's nothing actually special about his stats; he goes down just as easy as any enemy, though the challenge lays in actually getting to him and surviving the hail of gunfire from his vanguard.

As the BigBad of the first game, Song quickly established himself as someone who doesn't play around; when his father made it clear he wanted to reach a peace settlement with South Korea and adopt pro-Western policies, he staged a coup and [[spoiler:allegedly]] had his father assassinated. Not long after, he cut all of North Korea's public ties to the outside world and began a massive nuclear program, to the chagrin and concern of the West. When a cargo ship carrying North Korean nukes was discovered and intercepted, the world, under the banner of the Allied Nations, decided enough was enough and entered North Korea with the intention of stopping his regime, simultaneously declaring high bounties on Song and his staff, with Song getting the highest bounty at 100 million USD. This, of course, attracted enterprising individuals such as the Merc, who intends to take that 100 million for themselves.

* GenreSavvy: He's aware enough that personally taking over an entire country is a bold move that will put him on the top of a lot of people's hitlist, and that the merc is only helping him for the payout, and that, were a bounty on his head, the merc would probably go for what pays more, so he decides to cut off a loose end and have the merc killed instead of paying him/her.

'''Ewan Devlin''' spent too much time chasing girls to take any career seriously. He eventually had a short and controversial stay in the military, where he became a helicopter pilot. He took that training and worked as a freelance mercenary in Iraq and Darfur, eventually being hired by the Universal Petroleum Corporation and working for them at their Venezuelan branch, taking part in the early stages of the Venezuelan Conflict with them. After assisting the Merc in rescuing a kidnapped UP executive, he is recruited to fly for the PMC as the Merc's personal helicopter pilot, delivering vehicles and ferrying them around Venezuela.
