** When he joins Simon & co. in the search for Thorn in the latter part of the first book, he spells out that he's not doing this out of any love for mortals, it's only because he's interested in their quest, and he still owes Simon for saving his life. At that point in the story, he doesn't even really care if Ineluki the Storm King wants to wipe out humanity: Ineluki wasn't the one who shattered his people's civilization and drove them into the wilderness.
