* TheAlcholic: Owl has a drinking problem and feels deeply ashamed of it. Fearful of his behavior when drunk, he goes to AA meetings in order to stay sober. [[KickTheDog Megg and Mogg push him off the wagon as a prank.]]

* StepfordSmiler: Even though she maintains the facade of being a laid-back stoner, her deep unhappiness periodically shines through. Owl and Mogg are aware of her instability but are generally indifferent towards it.

* JerkWithAHeartOfJerk: It's demonstrated at multiple points that Megg isn't happy with her and Mogg's lifestyle. Mogg seems to be aware of this but is content to not change anything about it because he's comfortable as he is.

* OnlySaneMan: A deconstruction of the usual variant. While Owl ''is'' more more functional than Megg or Mogg, that's only by the standards of his peer group. He's still a drug-addled and sex-crazed alcoholic with some serious emotional problems. It's implied the reason he tolerates Megg and Mogg's abuse is so he can lord his functionality over them and feel superior.
* SmallNameBigEgo: He thinks he's a lot more sophisticated and smart than he really is because he's the most functional member of his freind group.

* AbusiveParents: Besides being openly contemptuous of Jaxon, he is constantly roping them into money-making schemes so he can sustain his drug habits. This ranges from sending the boys out to panhandle, starting Diesel off on a career in "camming," performing ram raids so the boys can steal as many goods as possible, and forcing them to make felt hats for his Etsy shop. That's to say nothing of their atrocious living conditions and their diet, which is implied to be nothing but sugary breakfast cereal and energy drinks.

* LoserProtagonist: Unemployed, drug-addled, mentally unwell, and stuck in a lousy relationship.

* BystanderSyndrome: He sees Owl nearly getting raped by Werewolf Jones and Mike, but chooses not to get involved.

* TookALevelInBadass: [[After years of abuse and ridicule, Owl leaves his friends for good at the end of ''Megahex''.]]

It's implied he's only a Werewolf when he's inebriated in some way.]]

** At the end of ''Megahex'', [[spoiler: Owl cites the way he's been treated as the reason he's moving out. When Mogg apologizes, the word "sorry" is in quotes, implying he doesn't actually feel bad about hurting Owl.]]

* DoggedNiceGuy: Owl has harbored a crush on Megg since they were in high school. He tries to make advances from time to time in spite of her clear lack of interest. [[spoiler: At the end of ''Megahex'', Owl (whose eyes are notably clear instead of bloodshot) looks into Megg's eyes and declares that he's over her.]]

Megg and Mogg's perpetually anxious flatmate. He's more grounded in reality than the rest of the cast.
* ExtremeDoormat: Although he futilely tries to maintain a semblance of order in his friend group, he's too weak-willed and neurotic to make much of a difference.

A boogeyman/woman as well as a long-time friend of Megg's. He's an avid crossdresser.
