battle field, before facing Mega Man.

* AllThereInTheManual: The Stardroids' ancient alien origins aren't alluded to in ''V'', and anyone playing the game without that knowledge would most likely assume that they're merely Wily-made robots pretending to be alien in origin.
* ALoadOfBull: Uranus seems to be based on a bull or Minotaur.
* AnimeHair: In the entire Classic series, nobody's got anything on Terra when it comes to this.
* ArtifactOfDeath: All of them hail from an ancient alien civilisation.
* BambooTechnology: Ancient alien war robots who happen to be on par with Robot Masters made in the futuristic 20XX.
* BubbleGun: Venus' Bubble Bomb, which can trap and immobilize enemies. [[GameplayAndstorySegregation Not that it can do that ingame...]]
* {{Cat|girl}}boy: Pluto has the ears, claws, and tail of a wildcat.
* CollapsingCeilingBoss: Neptune can stomp the ground, making damaging bubbles drop from the ceiling. Also, Uranus is capable of ''closing an entire half of his chamber'' with his quakes, which [[OneHitKill kills Mega Man instantly]].
* DishingOutDirt: Uranus' Deep Digger, which works much like Guts Man's Super Arm. During your rematch with him in the Wily Star, it's difficult, although possible, to [[HoistByHisOwnPetard cause him to fall to his death using this very weapon]].
* TheDragon: Terra to Dr. Wily, although he's the leader of the remainder of the group.
** The [[ComicBook/MegaMan Archie comics]] show him as this to Ra Moon 20,000 years ago.
* EnergyAbsorption: Mercury's Grab Buster. He can also use it to steal items like E-Tanks from Mega Man.
* {{Expy}}: Hello there, Toad Ma...Venus. The GameBoy's graphical limitations doesn't help your case, does it?
** In a sense, Mars could be considered as an alternate version of Napalm Man, with [[MoreDakka all of those weapons]] and everything.
** Reversed with Pluto, who in-universe ended up having Slash Man from ''7'' as one for him.
* FashionableAsymmetry: Terra's left arm is shown to be more robotic compared to his other limbs. It's unclear if this is simply a "buster-mode" for his arm, or if it's a replacement limb.
* FishPeople: Neptune is as close as you can get in regards to a Robot Master. Even moreso than Splash Woman!
* FrickinLaserBeams: Terra's Spark Chaser.
* GravitySucks: Saturn's Black Hole, which he also uses to pull opponents towards him.
* InvulnerableAttack: Pluto's Break Dash, although if [[ChargedAttack uncharged]], it will simply fire off [[EnergyWeapon small bursts of plasma]] instead.
* JetPack: Jupiter is able to fly with one.
* MakingASplash[=/=]KillItWithWater: Neptune's Salt Water, which [[SpreadShot splits into up to 3 orbs of water]] and is corrosive.
* NoSell: As his body was constructed from extraterrestrial materials, conventional weapons (i.e. the ''Super'' Mega Buster) don't work on Terra. Luckily, that's where the [[RocketPunch Mega Arm]] (and Deep Digger) come in handy...
** Dr. Light's dialogue in the intro suggests that this applies to ''all'' the Stardroids.
* PrettyInMink[=/=]FurAndLoathing: Pluto. According to his official bio, he's got other RichBitch qualities such as a love for manicures (which he confuses with pedicures, but since he doesn't have claws on his feet...)!
* Really700YearsOld: The Stardroids are ancient alien robots who just happen to resemble Robot Masters from circa-20XX.
* RingsOfDeath: Saturn has one, which he can use to stop time and create black holes.
* ShockAndAwe: Jupiter's Electric Shock, which is powered by a ''megaton bomb''.
* StealthPun and VisualPun: Some of the Stardroids' designs (Neptune and Jupiter's power over water and thunder respectively, Saturn's use of rings, etc.).
** Mercury's power to melt into a liquid state is a double pun -- Mercury the planet is the closest to the sun (meaning any metals would melt almost instantaneously when on its surface), while mercury the element is the only metal that's liquid at room temperature.
* TimeBomb: Mars' Photon Missile, which intentionally lags before launching, making it the perfect tool for traps. He also drops landmines that detonate after a short period of time.
* TimeStandsStill: Saturn seems capable of afflicting this. To some extent, Terra can also do this by firing shots that freeze Mega Man in place.
* ThemeNaming: The Stardroids are all named after planets of the Solar System ([[ScienceMarchesOn well, eight planets and a dwarf planet...]]).
* ThrowDownTheBomblet: Jupiter used to do this in the era he was created in, but changed it to channel the Electric Shock as he felt it was too dangerous for him.
* TremorTrampoline: Both Neptune and Uranus can do this, whose quakes can just slightly make Mega Man bounce. This bouncing knocks Mega Man out of sliding and the usage of Break Dash, which Uranus is weak against.
* VillainForgotToLevelGrind: Terra, as it currently stands, is the only villain to have ever, ''ever'' defeated Mega Man in battle (you hear that, Bass? Oh, don't give us that look...). In fact, you could argue that it was a NoHoldsBarredBeatdown. [[GenreBlindness Not expecting Mega Man to become sufficiently stronger and gain new weaponry in due time]], Terra pretty much ''{{job|ber}}s'' when you face him again.
* WhatHappenedToTheMouse: The Stardroids' fate in ''V'' is unclear, as they disappear from the game once Mega Man finishes refighting them. They never made any appearances in other games either, so it's unclear if Wily rebuilt them and they continue working for him offscreen (like some Robot Masters) or if they [[KilledOffForReal stayed destroyed]] after the Wily Star's destruction.
* [[YouGottaHaveBlueHair You Gotta Have Green]] RapunzelHair: Terra.

!!Sunstar (Sun God)

!Devil Series

A series of Dr.Wily's robots that usually act as the guards of his castles. Sometimes they guard the outside of his base, and sometimes they are fought a little bit into the stage, but most of them are notorious for their [[ThatOneBoss difficulty]]

!! Yellow Devil

-> A rare Non-robot master bosses, appearing multiple times throughout the series. The Yellow devil is perhaps one of the best known of the "devil" series Wily Castle bosses. Its takes the form of a sort of a sort of clay golem with a single eyeball which can fire EyeBeams and separate to attack.

* {{Bowdlerise}}: At the time nintendo was much less forgiving with religious references than today, which led yellow devil to be originally renamed "Rock Monster" in North America.
* DetachmentCombat: How it moves from one area to another in a fight, and its many bits make it tough to avoid.
* GoodBadBugs: In the first games original release, you could beat it quickly by firing a Thunder Beam at Yellow Devil, then pause and unpause, with each repeat counting as an individual hit.
* NothingIsScarier: Compared to so many other robots, which usually at least have visible joints, or some other indicator of their robotic nature, the Yellow Devil seems creepily organic. Its huge almost unmoving stature, its voiceless nature and (usually) UncannyValley eyeball add to this.
* PokemonSpeak: In MegaManPoweredUp, it can only say "Bumo" and variants of it.
* RedEyesTakeWarning
** GoForTheEye: Its its only weak spot, and is only vulnerable when it tries firing its EyeBeams at you.

-> [[quoteleft:250:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/wilycw_3931.jpg]]

-> The main antagonist of the series, and Dr. Light's former partner at Light Labs. Jealous of being overshadowed by Light's success, he reprogrammed the original Robot Masters and used them to take over the city, and would eventually attempt to conquer the world with them.

-> Robot Masters designed, controlled, or modified by Wily usually bear the serial number ''DWN-XXX'' ('''D'''octor '''W'''ily '''N'''umber), although some special-purpose Robot Masters such as Bass have the serial number ''SWN-XXX'' ('''S'''pecial '''W'''ily '''N'''umber).

* AntiVillain: In ''10'', he [[spoiler:leaves behind enough cures for Roboenza following his escape]], and in ''VideoGame/TatsunokoVsCapcom'', he [[spoiler:calls Zero his son and doesn't really care that he hasn't killed X anymore.]]
* BatmanGambit: After framing Dr. Light in ''9'', Wily coerces the population to fund his efforts to stop him. The funding instead went into building Wily's new Fortress guardians.
* '''BewareTheSillyOnes''': At first glance, he's just a cooky, stubborn jerk of a mad scientist who looks like Einstein, right? [[spoiler: As a ''direct'' result of his actions over the course of his life of villainy, he would subsequently doom the world for ''centuries'' to constant war and no fewer than two different near-apocalypses. This is to speak nothing of his greatest creation, which, upon having his original personality restored, '''''single-handedly wiped out nearly all sentient life on Earth.''''' And this was while they were still recovering from the ''first'' near-apocalypse, in which it was stated he somehow had a direct hand in despite ''being dead'' for nearly a hundred years.]]
* BigBad: The mad scientist to contrast Dr. Light, he is the evil guy making all the robot masters and trying to take over the world. Every game in the classic series is about stopping him.
** [[spoiler: BiggerBad: By WordOfGod, Wily somehow restored himself after his death to manipulate Sigma, and his virus has been plaguing the world for hundreds of years after his passing. Even as far as the ZX series, it's still around by means of Model W and general infection.]]
* CharlieBrownFromOuttaTown: In ''6'', instead of working in the shadows [[HijackedByGanon behind another villain]], he dons a fake beard and calls himself "Mr. X".
* TheChessmaster: He was mainly responsible for the events of almost all of the games, sometimes even doing it in such a way where the blame couldn't possibly be pinned on him. In fact, the only game that had something happen that he was not responsible for at all (or at least, he certainly didn't intend for it to go that way at all) was Rockman and Forte: Mirai Kara no Chousensha, where, although Wily did technically create Rockman Shadow, he was not involved in Shadow's attack at all.
** [[spoiler:This extends to the next 100 years.]]
* DangerouslyGenreSavvy: In ''8'', one could call him this; check the page for the example.

Depending on which translation and instruction manual you're using, either he started out as Dr. Light's colleague and then wasn't given credit for his help by the public, or he started out as a rival scientist but Dr. Light kept outshining him. Either way, he became a villain because he couldn't stand the public seeing Dr. Light as better than him, so he wants to take over the world so everyone will see how brilliant ''Wily'' is instead of Light!
* [[HijackedByGanon Hijacked By Dr. Wily]]: Extending into the ''X'' series!
** Subverted exactly once in the classic series [[spoiler: when Sunstar turns on him in ''V'']].
** [[spoiler:Inverted]] in ''Super Adventure Rockman'', because [[spoiler:Ra Moon turns on him.]]
* IronButtMonkey: Try to remember that, when his Wily Machines go into their second forms, the target would usually be Wily ''himself'', with little to no protection against a robot attack. This is at its finest in ''Powered Up'', where he visibly ''flinches'' whenever an attack hits him!

* {{Pride}}: He decided to TakeOverTheWorld essentially because he was sick with being in Dr. Light's shadow.
* SigilSpam: The classic "Dr. W" logo, which always means trouble.
* SpellMyNameWithAnS: Similarly to Light, in the English language localizations of the first few games, his name was rendered as Wily, Wiley, and even Willy (which isn't even pronunced the same way!) before Wily became the standard English name/spelling.
* SupervillainLair: Skull Castle, a veritable PlatformHell. To make things more difficult, he sometimes has multiple castles.
* TakeOverTheWorld: What he aims at.
* VillainOverride: Boosts King's brainwashing level in ''Mega Man and Bass'' when it becomes clear that the self-proclaimed lord of robots doesn't particularly want to kill his own kind.
* VillainsWantMercy: At the end of ''every'' Mega Man game, he begs for mercy. Even after ''6'', when it's clear Mega Man won't let him off easily, he still does it.

** This was then subverted ''again'' in ''[[NoExportForYou Rockman & Forte: Challenger from the Future]]'', where Rockman Shadow is believed to be a much, much, ''much'' more dangerous Quint. It turns out that [[spoiler:he's a ''prototype'' (quite possibly a SuperPrototype at that) of Quint who traveled back in time to prove himself worthy to Wily. The ''real'' Quint inexplicably has a cameo at the end.]]
* ImprobableWeaponUser: His weapon is the Sakugarne, a pogo stick[=/=]jackhammer robot.
* [[MyNameIsQuestionMarks My Serial Number Is Question Marks]]: "???-???", to be exact.
** We ''do'' know what the question marks represent though. Want to know? [[spoiler:Just look at the number for the first character listed on this page.]]
* ThemeNaming: Continuing the music theme, his name references a Quintet.
* TimeParadox: His victory would have resulted in one of these. He's stated in ''Mega Man and Bass'' to dislike these, however.
** [[FridgeBrilliance It may explain why he was so easy to defeat.]]
* WalkingSpoiler: So Mega Man games aren't all big on plot, but Quint is nigh-impossible to talk about without spoiling his backstory.

!!The Genesis Unit/[=MegaWorld=] Army Corp
-> [[quoteleft:250:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/genesisunitcw_5723.jpg]]
-> [[caption-width:250:Clockwise from the left: Buster Rod G, Mega Water S, Hyper Storm H]]

-> Appearing in the CompilationRerelease[=/=]VideoGameRemake ''Wily Wars'', the Genesis Unit, consisting of Buster Rod G, Mega Water S, and Hyper Storm H, are the three bosses featured in the secret fourth game, ''Wily Tower''. They are given the serial number of ''MWN-XXX'' ('''M'''ega'''W'''orld '''N'''umber) in Japanese and ''WWN-XXX'' ('''W'''ily '''W'''ars '''N'''umber) in English.
[[hardline]]
* ArmCannon: Buster Rod G uses one instead of his staff in the third Wily Tower stage.
* TheBrute: Hyper Storm H is the largest of the trio (and the second largest Robot Master of all, right behind Frost Man) and is in charge of the Unit's muscular.
* EverythingsBetterWithMonkeys: Buster Rod G, based on one of the most famous simians in literature, Sun Wukong.
* EvilGenius: Mega Water S is described as being the "brains" of the Genesis unit.
* FullBoarAction: Hyper Storm H, being modelled after Zhu Bajie, looks like a humanoid pig.
* {{Kappa}}: Mega Water S is quite clearly based on one.
* QuirkyMinibossSquad: They're all animal-esque robots named after characters from a Chinese novel.
* ShoutOut: To ''Literature/JourneyToTheWest'', with Buster Rod G as Sun Wukong himself, Mega Water S as Sha Wujing, and Hyper Storm H as Zhu Bajie.
* SimpleStaff: Buster Rod G's initial WeaponOfChoice.
* UnderwaterBossBattle: Mega Water S [[SubvertedTrope subverts the trope]] by jumping out of the water as soon as the battle begins and never jumping back in.
* VillainExitStageLeft: Buster Rod G initially leaves when brought down to his last unit of health, only to come back during the third Wily Tower stage in a brand new, completely different battle.
* YesMan: Hyper Storm H is one, and ''Mega Man and Bass'' seems to think that's a good point.

!!The Stardroids/Space Rulers

-> Alien Robot Masters from Game Boy's ''V''. They are designated by the serial number of ''SRN-XXX'' ('''S'''pace '''R'''uler '''N'''umber), even in English.

* ALoadOfBull: Uranus seems to be based on a bull or Minotaur.
* AnimeHair: In the entire Classic series, nobody's got anything on Terra when it comes to this.
* ArtifactOfDeath: All of them hail from an ancient alien civilisation.
* EnergyAbsorption: Mercury's Grab Buster. He can also use it to steal items from your inventory, so most walkthroughs suggest that you go after him first.
* {{Expy}}: Hello there, Toad Ma...Venus. The GameBoy's graphical limitations doesn't help your case, does it?
** In a sense, Mars could be considered as an alternate version of Napalm Man, with [[MoreDakka all of those weapons]] and everything.
** Reversed with Pluto, who ended up having Slash Man from ''7'' as one for him (only, slightly more humanoid).
* FishPeople: Neptune is as close as you can get in regards to a Robot Master. Even moreso than Splash Woman!
* FrickinLaserBeams: Terra's Spark Chaser.
* GravitySucks: Saturn's Black Hole, which he also uses to pull the player towards him.
* InvulnerableAttack: Pluto's Break Dash, although if [[ChargedAttack uncharged]], it will simply fire off [[EnergyWeapon small bursts of plasma]] instead.
* JetPack: Jupiter is able to fly with one.
* ALoadOfBull: Uranus clearly looks like a bull.
* PrettyInMink[=/=]FurAndLoathing: Pluto. According to his official bio, he's got other RichBitch qualities such as a love for manicures (which he confuses with pedicures, but since he doesn't have claws on his feet...)!
** Mercury's power to melt into a liquid state is a double pun -- Mercury the planet is the closest to the sun (meaning any metals would melt almost instantaneously when on its surface), while mercury the element is the only metal that's liquid at room temperature
* TimeBomb: Mars' Photon Missile, which intentionally lags before launching, making it the perfect tool for traps.
* VillainForgotToLevelGrind: Terra, as it currently stands, is the only villain to have ever, ''ever'' defeated Mega Man in battle (you hear that, Bass?). In fact, you could argue that it was a NoHoldsBarredBeatdown. [[GenreBlindness Not expecting Mega Man to become sufficiently stronger and gain new weaponry in due time]], Terra pretty much ''{{job|ber}}s'' when you face him again.
* [[YouGottaHaveBlueHair You Gotta Have Green]] RapunzelHair: Terra.

!!Sunstar/Sungod
-> [[quoteleft:250:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/sunstarcw_4980.jpg]]

--> An ancient super robot from the same civilisation as the Stardroids. Dr. Wily releases him against Mega Man for the final battle of ''V''. He promptly blows Wily off the battle field, before facing Mega Man.
[[hardline]]
* BambooTechnology: An ancient doomsday weapon from parts unknown.
* BloodKnight: Claims that robots were created to fight.
* ContemplateOurNavels: Surprised by Mega Man showing kindness to him and offering to repair him at Light Labs, Sunstar ponders on Mega Man's resolve to fight only when it's needed to protect the world and belief that humans and robots can live in peace. Unfortunately, [[DeathEqualsRedemption Sunstar's already on his death throes]], [[HeelFaceDoorSlam so he doesn't get a chance to do much with this revelation.]]
* GiantSpaceFleaFromNowhere: No mention of him at all until Wily is defeated.
* [[spoiler: HijackedByGanon: Currently the only being in any series who successfully pulled this on Dr. Wily.]]
* LightIsNotGood: He's based on the sun and wants to destroy everything. Such is life when you're a doomsday weapon.
* LoadBearingBoss: As his fusion reactor begins to go nuclear from the damage sustained during battle, Sunstar asks that Mega Man leave before it's too late. His death explosion also takes the Wily Star with it.

!!King
-> [[quoteleft:250:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kingcw_3672.jpg]]

-> A self-proclaimed king of robots who attacked a robot museum, downloaded data on the battle robots, and created an army of robots. It turned out that [[HijackedByGanon he is yet another creation of Dr. Wily]].

-> Robot Masters recruited by King (except Tengu Man and Astro Man) have the serial number ''KGN-XXX'' ('''K'''in'''G''' '''N'''umber).
[[hardline]]
* AnAxeToGrind: He weilds an axe as a weapon.
%%* BadassCape
* {{Combining|Mecha}} HumongousMecha: His [[OneWingedAngel third form]].
* CoolMask: Although it does look a tad bit goofy...
* DiscOneFinalBoss: orchestrates the whole plot, until he's upstaged by Dr. Wily, as usual.
* Expy: King is quite visibly what happens when Duo is your villain. [[AnAxeToGrind And you give him a big, scary axe.]] [[JustifiedTrope Justified]], in that before Mega Man 9 was released, [[AllThereInTheManual Mega Man & Bass was supposed to be an alternate course of events from 8]], and the big guy's gotta be in there ''somewhere''.
* HeadsIWinTailsYouLose: in the first of three consecutive battles against him [[spoiler:until Proto Man shows up.]]
* MadeOfExplodium: King is rigged to explode if anyone but Dr. Wily operates on him.
* RedemptionEqualsLife: King was believed to have perished in the final confrontation, but Mega Man's ending revealed that he survived and is now fighting for justice.
* RoyalsWhoActuallyDoSomething: Present for the raiding of the Robot Museum, showing an active role in his own conquest; and later has absolutely no qualms with facing down [[TheHero Mega Man]] and [[BloodKnight Bass]], despite knowing their penchant for blowing up evildoers.
* SecretTestOfCharacter: He was specifically created because Dr. Wily was losing faith in Bass and wanted to test his ability with a mightier robot.
** Or at least that's what he says with an [[OhCrap angry Bass]] [[UnreliableNarrator standing in front of him...]]
* SuperPrototype: Stated to be such by Wily, who had a second, improved version already in the wings. When you consider that King I was able to oneshot Proto Man... good thing he destroyed the plans for King II.
* VillainOverride: When King was pondering about robots fighting for humans, Wily stepped up the brainwashing levels for one last battle.
** [[TurnsRed Turns Purple]]: Due to Wily's brainwashing.
