Head of the Beautification Club. She intervenes when Yumeko, reduced to house pet status, is menaced by a group of male students, pulling a gun on them and reacting with disappointment when they walk away rather than indulge her. When she hears the rumors about Yumeko's gambling addiction, Midari realizes she might be the opponent she's been looking for, and kidnaps Yumeko (alongside Suzui) to force her into a game before she can challenge Kirari, who Midari believes would 'decimate' her.

* HappinessInSlavery: What she wants, although Yumeko is too disgusted by her to pursue it. Immediately after accusing Yumeko of treating Suzui more like a slave than a friend, she states she'd find nothing but bliss in Yumeko controlling everything about her life.
* NightmareFetishist: Like Yumeko, she doesn't mind if she loses badly and is taken advantage of. In her initial appearance, she even tells the bullies demanding that Yumeko strip that, should she lose their game of Russian roulette, a gunshot wound would prevent her from resisting [[ArentYouGoingToRavishMe whatever they wanted to do to her]].
* RussianRoulette: Her trademark game. She even plays it by herself if no one else will indulge her, which is often. Her obsession with it, which clearly holds her back in terms of creativity, is another reason that Yumeko finds her irritating.

* ToxicFriendInfluence: A very subdued example, but over the course of the series, Yumeko's WildCard tendencies have become normal to him; he even thinks to himself that part of the reason why he's started to have feelings for her is because he's [[ManicPixieDreamGirl fascinated by the chaos]] she gleefully throws herself into. Midari accuses them of being more like master and slave than friends (though Yumeko gets surprisingly, seriously offened by this), and later, when Yumeko is poisoned by Miyo and Miri, he barely bats an eye at her instructions to do exactly as Mary tells him...even when it looks very much like her plan could get him poisoned as well.

!!!Tropes associated with Yumeko Jabami:
* AnimalMotifs: Jabami is compared by her schoolmates to a snake, and is even drawn with the sideways pupils seen on multiple varieties of snakes when she's going especially nuts for gambling. Further the 蛇 / "Ja" character in 蛇喰 / "Jabami" can be read as "snake".
* BatmanGambit: Jabami regularly analyzes other players' habits and schemes, and sets them up to lose if they continue through with their normal actions. However, if they abandon their schemes, they can have a shot at actually defeating her, which to the latter only adds to the excitement of the game.
* BerserkButton: Ruining her enjoyment of a game. It's why, so far, Midari seems to be the only person she actually hates.
* BetterThanSex: Jabami has near-orgasmic reactions when just thinking about gambling, wrapping her arms around various parts of her body, blushing, and even having little trails of drool starting to drip out of her mouth.
* BlueAndOrangeMorality: Jabami's entire morality system seems to be based around gambling, with greater risk equated to good and less to bad. And while she can replicate "normal" behavior and morality as needed, they have seemingly no actual meaning to her. Additionally, why does she call her opponents out on cheating? Most of the time, because they're doing it poorly, and that bores her. Why does she reveal that she knows their tricks if she could crush them otherwise? Because a guaranteed win would be boring.

** She doesn't care if her opponent is cheating, to the point she will challenge them again even after destroying their schemes, just to be able to gamble more. She even gives Suzui a ¥5 million tip for being the lynchpin of Saotome's rigged game on her first day at school, just because she got to enjoy an "interesting" bet thanks to him. She also tries extort Sumeragi with the fact she was cheating not for money, but to have Sumeragi ''and herself'' gamble more at anything Sumeragi wants, with having ''all'' their fingernails and toenails ripped off and given to the other player as the stakes.
** Similarly, she finds any game where people aren't putting something valuable on the line worthless, such as her duels against Sumeragi, [[spoiler:who freaks out when betting anything but small amounts of money, despite initially appearing to have bet the infinitely more valuable reputation of her family business by using a limited line of rigged cards it produced]], and Ikishima, [[spoiler: when

* CuteAndPsycho: Watch Jabami one minute acting like a sweet YamatoNadeshiko. Then watch her turn into a gambling monster the next.
* EveryoneHasStandards: While Jabami has an insane morality towards gambling, [[spoiler:she especially found Midari Ikishima disgusting because she gambles just to ''die''. To a lesser extent, she initially turns down Igarashi's offer to bet their lives on a gamble because she felt that there are more valuable things than that.]]
* TheGamblingAddict: It's all in the title. Jabami had the money to pay off her debt to Nishinotouin, but willingly stayed a "house pet", going so far as to give up an opportunity to clear her debt in favor of Saotome's, just so she can abuse her restriction to public matches to challenge anyone -- including the Student Council -- to sate her addiction.]]
* HustlingTheMark: Jabami at first appears to be a quiet, naive YamatoNadeshiko-type, making her seem like an easy mark for various cheaters at the school to get money or servitude from. It's only once they actually start playing that Jabami's sociopathic [[TheGamblingAddict Gambling Addict]] tendencies surface, and she shows herself to be an expert at reading others and seeing through schemes.
* InsultBackfire: Jabami doesn't mind having herself or her actions in various games being called out as nuts, as she believes that insanity is the very essence of what makes gambling so fun. [[spoiler:Even after losing to Nishinotouin due to Kirari's interference, she doesn't mind being reduced to "house pet", and is so unnaturally enthusiastic playing a CatGirl her prospective bullies don't know what to make of her.]]
* ItAmusedMe: Discussed. Jabami readily admits that from a pure financial perspective, gambling is something no sane person should willingly engage in. As far as she's concerned, it's only the entertainment derived from this "insanity" that has any real worth.
-->'''Saotome:''' T... this is insane!\\
'''Jabami:''' But isn't that what makes it fun!
* LaughingMad: Upon hearing from Suzui the entire school gambles, Jabami starts chuckling to herself.
* LoopholeAbuse: [[spoiler:After defeating Yumemite, Jabami exploits her "house pet" status to challenge Student Council Accountant Kaede Manyuuda to a public match, the only way such "pets" as herself can gamble until they can clear their debt. This puts the rest of the Council in a bind, not only because of the direct challenge to them, but also because that came ''after'' Manyuuda publicly admitted to attempting to sabotage Yumemite in a bid for the presidency, meaning they now have [[SadisticChoice the extremely unpleasant decision]] of siding with either TheStarscream of the Council or their walking SpannerInTheWorks.]]
* TheMagicPokerEquation: Jabami only gets a winning hand in her match with Saotome after she bets ¥10 million. Jabami even lampshades it afterwards, saying she had awfully "good luck".

* MoneyIsNotPower: In the debt recollection meeting, Yumeko forego thousands upon thousands of yen just to see one of the slave students act out of character and stand up for themselves, and realizes money is more or less meaningless to her.

* NewTransferStudent: The first arc has Jabami transferring into the second year of Hyakkaou's high-school division midway through the school year.

* ProfessionalGambler: Jabami shows up with at least ¥10 million (~$100,000) of her previous winnings ''in her bag'' during her first day at school. She also has no problem letting Saotome's ¥8.8 million debt to her slide since she "had fun", and further decides to give Suzui a ¥5 million tip for letting her enjoy an interesting game. [[spoiler:The Student Council also later discovers that she has enough money to easily pay back a ¥300 million debt to Nishinotouin, but willingly abstains from repaying it so she has more excuses to gamble.]]

* SecondYearProtagonist
* SherlockScan: Jabami is extremely good at noticing details and applying deductive reasoning. For instance, in her game with Sumeragi she notices and then memorizes minor sets of defects on the back of 52/104 different playing cards and their corresponding faces in a few minutes.
* ToThePain: When trying to convince Sumeragi to have a third gambling match with her, Jabami suggests they each bet having all their finger and toenails ripped out if they lose, and starts going into detail over how she's heard it hurts even more afterwards and will cause the affected digit to bleed if even the slightest pressure is applied. While Jabami finds describing this level of risk... [[BetterThanSex deeply satisfying]], Sumeragi is just terrified.

* YamatoNadeshiko: When not gambling, Jabami appears to be a very demure and soft spoken Japanese beauty, with long straight black hair and a very conservative version of the school's NonuniformUniform.

* DescentIntoAddiction: The SpinOff series ''Kakegurui Futago'' details the once relatively sane Mary Saotome's descent into the NightmareFace making gambler we meet at the beginning of the main series.
* GamblersFallacy: Saotome assumes since she has around 21 of their thirty classmates voting to give her an advantage in her modified RockPaperScissors card game with Jabami, she's basically assured to win. It doesn't occur to her that still means there's a 12.4% chance on any given round Jabami will get a card Saotome's not expecting, which is what leads to her eventual loss.

* WildCard: It's brought up time and time again that Yumeko almost never acts rationally and is nearly impossible to predict. Probably the best example of this is when she uses her one right to a public match - with anyone, that can't be refused - on Manyuda, when everyone had been expecting she was saving it to challenge Kirari instead, because he was refusing to gamble with her right then and there.
