[[folder: The Mekakushi Dan / Blindfold Gang]]
!!The Entire Team

Applicable for most if not all of the members. Some are also applicable to those outside the club.

* BackFromTheDead: Required for the eye ability.
* BeCarefulWhatYouWishFor: All of their eye abilities are related to a desire they held in their hearts before [[spoiler:death. This decides which snake possesses them; whichever one is best suited to their wish is the one carried out of the Daze inside them]].
* BlessedWithSuck: They all suffer various level of social problems because of their power.
* BreakTheCutie: The only one who hasn't somewhat recovered from it is [[spoiler:Kano, at least until the climax of the fifth novel]]
* ColorCodedCharacters: Virtually everyone in the cast, Dan member or not, is associated with a color:
** Red - Shintaro, Ayano, Ayaka, and Azami
** Pink - Marry and Hiyori
** Orange - Momo
** Chartreuse - Konoha
** Green - Seto
** Light Blue - Hibiya
** Dark Blue - Ene
** Violet - Kido
** Black/Gray - Kano [[spoiler: and Route XX Shintaro]]
** Brownish Orange - Kenjirou
** Lavender - Shion
** Turquoise - Tsukihiko
* CursedWithAwesome: The various powers they have isolates them from the rest of humanity, whether they want it to or not.
* DysfunctionJunction: Everyone has ''a lot'' of problems.
* FriendlessBackground: Seto was bullied and his first and only friend was a dog who later died in an accident. Kano distanced himself from other people to avoid getting his abusive mom into trouble. Kido constantly felt out of place due to being a bastard child, and the only dear person she really had was her older sister. For the first 130 years of her life the only people Mary had ever met were her parents. Haruka wasn't able to play with other children since he was constantly hospitalized. Most people either teased Takane for her sleep disorder or shied away from her because of her mood. People would ignore Momo in favor of putting attention on her brother Shintaro for his abilities, but Shintaro himself never made an effort to become friends with anyone due to his apathy towards life. Because of the in-school rivalry between boys regarding Hiyori, and his conservative (+ extremely over protective) parents Hibiya was socially inept, never able to connect to others.
* DarkAndTroubledPast: All of them have one.
* ImageSong: Very prominent, as there is one for almost each of the main characters depicted.
* LastNameBasis: The Orphan Trio (Kido, Kano, and Seto) are almost exclusively called by their last names, whereas everyone else is generally called by their given names. [[spoiler:Though they did use to call each other by their first names in the past. They switched to last names to sound cooler for their "organization".]] In the novel and manga, the trio has have always called each other by their last names, as they had gotten so used to doing so they just began to see each other's last names as their only names.
* MagicalEye: Each have an eye ability that represents one of Azami's snakes.
* PowerIncontinence: Every single one of them has trouble using their ability at first, either because they cannot turn it off (as with Kido, Seto, Kano and Momo), or because [[spoiler:they don't know they have it yet and use it subconsciously, like Shintaro]].
* PsychicPowers: Their powers are (for the most part) to do with manipulating the minds of others (Kido's "Conceal", Seto's "Stealing", Kano's "Deceive", Momo's "Attention-Drawing"), or extending the reach of their own consciousness (Ene's "Immortality", Hibiya's "Sight", [[spoiler:Shintaro's "Retaining" and Ayano's "Favouring"]]).
* RedEyesTakeWarning: Their eyes turn red when using their abilities. This caused particular problems for Kido, Seto and Kano, who have been shunned and called "monsters" because their eyes were always red as children.
* TrueCompanions: Kido, Kano, and Seto- though the entire Dan counts to a degree.

!![[spoiler:Ayano Tateyama]]

[[spoiler: Mekakushi Dan Group Member No. 0 and the original leader. For more information, see the Others folder.]]

!!Tsubomi Kido
->''Not what I hate, but what I like …? Eh … hi— …''
[[quoteright:257:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/Kido_2020.jpg]]

-->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/YukoKaida

Mekakushi Dan Group Member No.1, she's the leader and tends of have difficulty keeping the rest of the members in line. She's an orphan, and grew up with Seto and Kano in an orphanage.

She always listens to music through her earphones.

Her ability is "eye concealing", and it allows her to change a person's perception so as to make it seem like an object isn't there. This ability works only within a certain distance of herself.

''Appears in: Mekakushi Code, Children Record, & daze''

''Cameos in: Souzou/Kuusou Forest, Konoha no Sekai Jijou, Kisaragi Attention, Yobanashi Deceive, Lost Time Memory, Ayano no Koufuku Riron, Otsukimi Recital, Outer Science, Summertime Record & Shounen Brave''

-----
* AbusiveParents: Verbally and emotionally instead of physically like Kano's mom.
* {{Bifauxnen}}: Both Takane and Momo note that she has a pretty face when they meet her, and her long hair and flat chest make her look much like a LongHairedPrettyBoy.
* BigBrotherInstinct: Towards the other members of the Mekakushi Dan, especially Marry and Momo. In the anime, when [[spoiler: Kuroha shows up, the ''first'' thing Kido does is charge him and yell at the others to run.]]
* BigBrotherWorship: Towards [[spoiler: her real older sister.]]
* {{Bokukko}}: Refers to herself with the masculine pronoun ''ore'', and to others with (the rather impolite) ''omae''.
* ChildhoodFriends: With Kano and Seto.
* CoolBigSis: A mix of this, TheLeader, and TeamMom. Emphasis on ''cool'' given [[IncrediblyLamePun that she's a]] {{Kuudere}}.
* CruelAndUnusualDeath: In [[spoiler:Outer Science, Kuroha punches her through the stomach while in the manga he shoots her at least [[ThereIsNoKillLikeOverkill six times]] after he kills Kano and Seto.]]
* CryCute: Unfortunately, the few scenes in which she genuinely cries it's [[TearJerker pretty hard to appreciate how cute she looks while doing so.]]
* CutenessProximity: Loves cute things, particularly cats.
* FashionableAsymmetry: One side of her pants is slightly rolled up. It signifies that she's a gang member.
* {{Flanderization}}: Unlike the manga and definitely the anime, she has very few instances where she acts tsuundere and violent in both the PVs and novels (in fact, [[CharacterDevelopment this personality better reflects when she was a child]] back at the orphanage as Kano notes). Compared to the anime where her tsundere and violent tendencies are UpToEleven - which could be due to the fact that each media covers a different route. It's not too far fetched to believe that she may react slightly different in different routes.
* HappilyAdopted: By Kenjirou and Ayaka [[spoiler:when Ayaka was still alive]]
* HeadphonesEqualIsolation: A major theme with her image song, the lyrics even stating to help block her from out the outside world. This might have to do with her wish, which was to draw away attention (even though that is a visual component). Her hoodie is even styled as an iPod with a headphone design on her hood.
* HeroicBastard: She is the illegitimate child of a rich family, which caused her to feel very out of place while growing up. Nonetheless she's the leader of our heroes.
* ImpaledWithExtremePrejudice: [[spoiler:Kuroha ''[[CruelAndUnusualDeath punches her through the stomach]]'' in Route XX.]]
* JapanesePronouns:
** Notably, Kido refers to herself with "ore", which is a very masculine and somewhat arrogant way to refer to oneself. She outright admits she only took to using ore after Ayano's death to try to appear stronger. Before said incident, she used "watashi" which is typical for girls to use.
** During a sequence in the last episode, Kido briefly switched back to using "watashi" when she expresses her aggravation about [[spoiler: Kano not telling her the real story of what was happening.]] Momo catches on, but Kido is quick to dismiss it.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: More so in the earlier novels and as a child.
* LadyLooksLikeADude: Momo initially mistakes her for a boy.
* LaserGuidedAmnesia: [[spoiler: Turn out that not only can her powers conceal the physical presence of her and others, it also allows her to conceal memories- at least on herself, it's unknown if she can use that ability on other people yet.]]
* TheLeader: Of the Mekakushi-Dan. She may not be the most informed of the cast but she does a valiant effort at staying on task and recruiting members, informing them what she knows, and making them feel welcome.
* LockedOutOfTheLoop: [[spoiler: She and Seto were not informed of Ayano and Kano's investigation of Kenjirou or how he blackmailed Kano into doing his bidding. Seto finds out later on, leaving Kido the only one among the orphan trio left out of the loop. She eventually finds out in the final episode of the anime, and scolds Kano for attempting to bear the burden on his own, promising to put him on bathroom cleaning duty for the rest of the month as punishment.]]
* LonelyRichKid: [[spoiler: Was often shunned in her household due to being a bastard child, which made her desire to disappear.]]
* NotBloodSiblings: With Seto, Kano, and [[spoiler: Ayano]]. She still considers them to be her family, and her CharacterDevelopment between her childhood and teenagehood really hinges on that.
* PaterFamilicide: [[spoiler: When his company went bankrupt, Kido's father went mad and set fire to their house in despair, killing the whole family.]]
* PeekABangs: Depending on the shot, her right eye may or may not be covered by her bangs.
* PerceptionFilter: Her [[MagicalEyes eye ability]] masks her presence and anyone 2 meters of her. It loses its effect when someone touches her, and weakens toward people who closely know the concealed person.
* ProgressivelyPrettier: Combined with ArtEvolution, just compare how Kido looks in [[http://img1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20120526211933/vocaloid/images/c/c8/Kido_Tsubomi_Blindfold_Code.jpg Blindfold Code]] to how she looks in [[http://img1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20130902132617/kagerouproject/images/a/a7/SummerKido.png Summertime Record]].
* SelfMadeOrphan: [[spoiler: As a child she stabbed her own father to death in order to stop him from killing her sister. Unfortunately it didn't actually end up saving either of them.]]
* ShrinkingViolet: She was still pretty shy up to the time when she challenged Takane in the Headphone Actor game, implying that she used to be one [[spoiler:until Ayano died.]] According to Kano in the anime, she tried to change her personality to one more befitting of a leader [[spoiler:after inheriting the title from Ayano.]]
* TheStoic: [[NotSoStoic Or she tries to be]].
* SugarAndIcePersonality: Shintaro notes in the novels that Kido seems to have a "coolness" persona that tends to slip off when she's scared. Momo also notes that despite this persona, she does have a nice "dere".
* SupremeChef: [[WordOfGod According to Jin]], she's a very good cook. In the manga, she's even seen preparing meal for the gang.
* TeamMom: Contrary to her appearance, she's quite nurturing and acts as this to all the Mekakushi-Dan.
* TomboyAndGirlyGirl: Tomboy to Marry and Momo's GirlyGirl
* TomboyishPonytail:
** Played straight in the anime.
** Subverted in the novels and manga in that she is first seen in a ponytail while cooking.
* UndyingLoyalty: Has shades of this, particularly when it comes to Kano and Seto. When Shintarou comes to her asking if Kano hates him, she doesn't miss a beat defending Kano, even under the shady circumstances.
* YouGottaHaveBlueHair: Green hair, but still counts.

!!Kousuke Seto

->''It’s such nice weather~ But I wonder where this is. There’s a deer I’ve never seen before.''
[[quoteright:257:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/SetoKousuke_7047.jpg]]

-->'''Voiced by:''' SoichiroHoshi

Mekakushi Dan Group Member No.2, he was raised in the same orphanage as Kido and Kano. He works various part-time jobs, and has the habit of wandering around.

He was the one who invited Marry to the Mekakushi Dan.

His ability is “eye-stealing”, and with it he can take information from any given target just by looking at them. He doesn't really like it though, seeing as it's an ability which makes it so that he doesn't have to communicate with others, as such he rarely uses it.

''Appears in: Children Record, Shounen Brave & daze''

''Cameos in: Souzou/Kuuzou Forest, Konoha no Sekai Jijou, Kisaragi Attention, Yobanashi Deceive, Lost Time Memory, Ayano no Koufuku Riron, Outer Science & Summertime Record''

-----

* AdaptationDyeJob: His undershirt is black rather than white in the anime.
* AllOfTheOtherReindeer: Was bullied as a child.
* AmbiguouslyBrown: The anime and other official art depict him as significantly tanner than the rest of the cast. This might be a reference towards his outdoors-y nature though.
* BerserkButton: In the manga after witnessing [[spoiler:Kuroha murder Kano, Seto doesn't stop to hold his friend as Kido did but rushes straight towards the murderer with fists raised, even though said person carries a gun. He doesn't even stop when he's shot in the abdomen. Kuroha has to ''blow his head off'' to put an end to it.]]
* BigBrotherInstinct:
** Towards Marry and Hibiya (although [[ShipTease his relationship with Marry]] may be [[RescueRomance something]] [[MayDecemberRomance else]]...)
** In general, he seems to enjoy looking out for people. He almost qualifies as the TeamDad to Kido's TeamMom with his kind nature.
* ChildhoodFriends: With Kano and Kido.
* ChronicHeroSyndrome: His main reason for saving Mary from her isolation.
* CruelAndUnusualDeath: In [[spoiler:Outer Science, Kuroha strangles him to death and ''then'' rips his head off, while in the manga he first shoots him through the stomach and ''then'' through the mouth.]]
* DemotedToExtra: For some reason, Jin keeps shafting Seto aside despite being a member of the original Mekakushi Trio and his importance to Marry. So far, he has only had minimal roles in the novels and anime, and his PV was heavily delayed, cancelled, then placed on album exclusive Mekakucity V's (whereas the entire Dan has their PV viewable for free along with their respective fan derivatives). He did finally get some chapters of the manga dedicated to him, though.
* TheEmpath: Very personable and easily relates to others, especially if combined with his powers (though that's a rare occurrance).
* FragileFlower: As a child he cried at the drop of a hat if is feelings were hurt or if something scared him.
* FriendToAllLivingThings: He seems to give off this impression, and in the manga adaptation he even talks to animals!
* GentleGiant: The second tallest of the cast, but also a textbook NiceGuy.
* GogglesDoNothing: He has goggles glued onto the hood of his jumpsuit for no discernible reason.
* HairDecorations: One of his most noticeable features is that he wears a yellow barrette.
* HappilyAdopted: By Kenjirou and Ayaka when [[spoiler:Ayaka was still alive.]]
* HeIsAllGrownUp: Looks noticeably older and taller after Imagination Forest.
* HeterosexualLifePartners: With Kano.
* HugeGuyTinyGirl: Huge Guy to Marry's Tiny Girl.
* LockedOutOfTheLoop: [[spoiler: He and Kido initially didn't know about Ayano and Kano's investigation of Kenjirou, although he does find out about it later in the 5th novel and also in the anime.]]
* {{Keet}}: Particularly pertaining to the present. He's a very friendly guy who seems to have a lot of energy behind him.
* MayflyDecemberRomance: With Marry.
* NiceGuy: Jin describes him as the type of person that can get along with anyone.
* NotBloodSiblings: With Kido, Kano, and [[spoiler: Ayano.]] Doesn't stop him from being a CoolBigBro though.
* NumberTwo: Is considered to be the co-leader of the Dan, shared with Kano.
* ParentalAbandonment: Had lived in the orphanage since birth.
* PerpetualSmiler
* PreciousPuppy: He had one as a kid since it was the only think that didn't mock him and loved him unconditionally. [[spoiler: Sadly, he and the dog died together, and the puppy was Seto's sacrifice to escape the Haze.]]
* {{Telepathy}}: His eye power.
* UnhappyMedium: He hates using his powers, mainly because AMindIsATerribleThingToRead, and it makes meeting new people quite boring. Some of the images in the ''[[ImageSong Shounen Brave]]'' PV imply that the horrible things he heard others think about him while still new to his powers nearly drove him to self-harm.
* VerbalTic: -su in the anime. [[spoiler: Turns out the origin of said verbal tic was from Kido pressuring him to stop using overly formal and polite speech as children.]]

!!Shuuya Kano

->''Uwaaa! Marry, those clothes are really cute! Since you look like a seal...''
[[quoteright:257:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kanoo_6946.jpg]]

-->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/ShinnosukeTachibana

Mekakushi Dan Group Member No.3, he's rather laid back and he tends to smile all the time. He likes to tease and can be a flirt, but when it counts he's very reliable.

His ability is to “deceive one’s eyes”. He can change people's perception of the things around them, making them see something different from what's actually there... though unlike Kido's ability which can affect other things within a certain distance from her, the effects of this ability are only limited to himself and those within immediate contact with him.

''Appears in: Children Record, Yobanashi Deceive, & daze''

''Cameos in: Konoha no Sekai Jijou, Kisaragi Attention, Lost Time Memory, Ayano no Koufuku Riron, Outer Science, Summertime Record, & Shounen Brave''

-----
* AbusiveParents: [[spoiler:Kano didn't even go to kindergarten because he was always with his physically abusive mother.]]
* AdorablyPrecociousChild: [[spoiler:He took care of the housekeeping and shopping already at the age of ''six''.]]
* {{Adorkable}}: When he's not using his powers, he tends to get easily embarrassed and is self conscious of his real smile and laughter.
* BoomHeadshot: How he was [[spoiler: killed by Kuroha in Outer Science and in the manga.]]
* BigBrotherInstinct:
** [[spoiler: Inverted with Ayano. [[MindRape Tries to get back at Shintaro for the fate Ayano had.]]]]
** [[spoiler: He took on the role of an elder brother for Kido and Seto while they were still at the orphanage, trying his best to protect them from harm. He was also very encouraging and supportive of Kido when she took on the role as leader in the anime.]]
** In the present, he also has shades of this towards the newest members of the Mekakushi Dan (mostly towards Marry, Hibiya, and Momo. [[TheResenter Ene and Shintaro, not so much]]), in addition to Kido and Seto.
* BigLittleBrother: When they were kids, he was a little taller than Seto and Kido despite being a few months younger than them. Averted now as teens, [[HeightAngst much to his dismay.]]
* BigSisterWorship: {{Implied}} to have this towards [[spoiler: Ayano.]]
* BreakTheCutie: Kano has, for lack of a better phrase, gone through a ''lot'' of problems from the beginning of his life up to this point, none of which he's been able to fully recover from.
* ButtMonkey: Of the physical variety, especially if Kido's around in the anime. [[spoiler: Tends to cross over DudeNotFunny territory when you remember that his mother abused him when he was a kid.]]
* CheshireCatGrin: His default expression. Kano's always got this sneaky look that makes him seem really shady and like he's hiding some dirty secret. [[spoiler: The latter is true.]]
* ChessmasterSidekick: [[spoiler:He's actually the "mastermind" behind the gang, deciding where their hideout would be, the gang's name, and even being the one to appoint Kido as leader in the anime (in an attempt to cheer her up after Ayano's death.) After founding the gang, it's Kano who first notices that Momo is an ability user, and it's under his orders that Kido goes to recruit her as well. However, this is also debatable because he was working under Kuroha.]]
* ChildhoodFriends: With Kido and Seto.
* ConsummateLiar: His defining trait. He's been one for at least 10 years now, but Kano's penchant for deceiving began when he was very young.
* CryCute: When he finally hits his breaking point from [[spoiler: all the secrets he's been shouldering for the past two years]]. Thankfully Seto is there to give him a shoulder to lean on.
* DeadPersonImpersonation: His power can allow him to look like anyone, dead or alive. [[spoiler: Such as when he turns into Ayano in the novels and Haruka in the anime to make Shintaro and Ene feel horrible. As a side note, the 5th novel also reveals that during the last few months of Ayano's life, Kano periodically would take her place while she went out investigating things, and was forced into pretending to be Ayano's corpse when her body couldn't be found.]]
* ForcedIntoEvil: [[spoiler: Forced to work with the Wide-Eyes Snake or else the remaining family will be brutally murdered]]. Of course, [[spoiler: some of his jerkass moments like mindscrewing with Shintaro in the novels (Ene in the anime) was done completely out of his accord]].
* TheGadfly: He really likes to mess with people and getting a rise out of them.
* HappilyAdopted: By Kenjirou and Ayaka when [[spoiler:Ayaka was still alive]]. However, [[ConsummateLiar this is debatable]]. At the very least he did grow attached to his adopted family.
* HeroicSelfDeprecation: Any time we get a serious look into his thoughts it's usually Kano calling himself a monster, or something similar. Both his image song, and the first chapter in the fifth novel show just how deep his self-hatred runs.
* HeterosexualLifePartners: With Seto.
* TheHyena: Is able to laugh even in pretty bad situations.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: He can be a bit of an ass at times, but deep down he's got a kind heart and he cares deeply for his family and friends.
* LoveMartyr:
** [[spoiler: He was always abused by his mother, but he still blames himself for being the one angering her.]]
** [[spoiler: He doesn't even mind when Kido hits him, and outright says he'd rather be covered in bruises than have her hate him or be unhappy. When she outright beats him up as children, he thanks her, asking her to beat him up again if it makes her not hate him.]]
* MasterOfIllusion: Kano's eye power. It's apparently negated upon him feeling pain.
* MindRape: [[spoiler: Does this to Shintaro in the novel and Ene in the anime by turning into Ayano and Haruka respectively, accusing both Shintaro and Ene of trying to forget about the people they lost.]]
* NotBloodSiblings: With Kido, Seto, and [[spoiler: Ayano]]. He still treasures them like family.
* NumberTwo: Is considered to be the co-leader of the Dan, shared with Seto.
* OOCIsSeriousBusiness: [[spoiler: He [[BrokenTears breaks down]] at the end of the fifth novel after almost releasing hell on Seto. A pretty similar situation also happens in #11 of the anime.]]
* ObfuscatingStupidity: Though he tends to act like the story's [[ButtMonkey Comic relief character]], he is a lot more capable than one might think and, as [[WordOfGod quoted by Jin]], "Help moving the story forward".
* PerpetualSmiler
* TheResenter: Shown to resent [[spoiler: Shintaro for treating Ayano so coldly when she was still alive. He lashes out at Shintaro in the fourth novel, however, in the fifth novel, he seems to be warming up to him, stating that he thinks of the other as 'An idiot, but also a good person.']]
* SadClown
* StepfordSmiler: Type-A, BIG. TIME. [[spoiler: He's been locking his feelings behind smiles since he was at least ''five'']]. He gives the impression that he's alright and that nothing bothers him so well that unfortunately, people almost never notice when he really needs support the most.
* TheTease:
** Has a habit of flirting with Momo and Mary as noted in the Children Record's booklet.
** Also shown to tease [[ShipTease Kido quite a lot as well.]]
* TraumaCongaLine: [[spoiler: Result G. Where to start?]]
* TheTrickster: Even better when you have ''that'' kind of ability.
* UndyingLoyalty: Kano is this way to all of his family members, adopted or otherwise, for better or worse. This includes [[spoiler: Ayano who despite her good intentions wound up putting Kano in a horrible position, his abusive biological mother, and even Kenjirou who Kano still considers his dad even though Kenjirou's been the face of the mastermind causing all of Kano's misery, because he's capable of separating in his mind the real Kenjirou from the snake possessing his body.]]

[[quoteright:257:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/MaryKozakura_4370.jpg]]

-->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/KanaHanazawa

Mekakushi Dan Group Member No.4, she is very reclusive and has a hard time communicating with people she isn't familiar with. She's 1/4 Medusa, 3/4 human girl, and was raised in the forest isolated from society. When her parents died she had been living alone until Seto found her.

Her ability is to “make eye contact”, which allows her to temporarily stop the movement of whoever meets her gaze.

''Appears in: Souzou/Kuusou Forest, Children Record, Gunjou Rain, Outer Science, Marry no Kakuu Sekai, & daze''

''Cameos in: Konoha no Sekai Jijou, Kisaragi Attention, Lost Time Memory, Summertime Record, & Shounen Brave''

-----
* AllOfTheOtherReindeer: Was bullied when she was younger.
* ApologisesALot
* BewareTheNiceOnes: Freezes Kano in the manga when he ticks her off and gets noticeably upset when the Kisaragi siblings get Seto's name wrong.
* BreakTheCutie: In ''Outer Science''. thanks to [[spoiler: Kuroha [[KillEmAll killing everyone.]]]]
* CuteBookworm
* CryCute
* CuteClumsyGirl: She trips and spills her pitcher of tea onto Momo in episode 2 of the anime. She also spins around clumsily and loses a phone receiver, nearly hitting the terrorist leader in the head and blowing their cover.
* CuteMonsterGirl
* DespairEventHorizon: [[spoiler:Driving her past this is the key to the time-loop. [[MurderIsTheBestSolution Generally Kuroha accomplishes this by killing people left-and-right.]]]]
* DoesNotLikeShoes: She tends to walks around barefoot in "Imagination Forest".
* ExpressiveHair: Her hair tends to start moving and waving around much like snakes whenever she feels growing excitement or happiness.
* FlowerInHerHair: Has sewn a fake rose onto the left side of her hood, as a tribute to her mother, Shion.
* GenerationXerox: [[spoiler:Her role in the story perfectly mirror's Azami's; monster is shunned by humans, but one day meets one/multiple human(s) who are indiscriminate. Something goes wrong, and Wide-Eyes uses the wish born of her despair to perpetuate its own existance (by creating the Daze/setting off a time-loop). * TomboyAndGirlyGirl: GirlyGirl to Kido's {{Tomboy}}.

Mekakushi Dan Group Member No.5, she is a very popular idol! She also has very unusual tastes...

Her ability is "eye-captivating", a power which draws people's attention to her. She had developed this ability when she was at the beach with her father where she nearly drowned. Because of this ability she had been alienated from people and had no friends, but once she had joined the Mekakushi Dan she became more bright and cheerful.

''Cameos in: Konoha no Sekai Jijou, Lost Time Memory, Outer Science, Summertime Record, Shounen Brave & days''

-----
* AlwaysSomeoneBetter: Used to feel inferior to her [[TeenGenius genius]] older brother.
* AnnoyingYoungerSibling: Can resort to being one towards Shintaro during some of their banter. Meanwhile, she has one of these in Hibiya.
* BigSisterInstinct: Towards Hibiya and Marry.
* BigEater: Just look at the plate she orders in ''Otsukimi Recital''.
* BookDumb: The fact that she got a 2 on her biology exam despite having taken supplementary lessons for it ''two weeks in advance'' should clue us in that she's [[SiblingYinYang quite different]] from her [[BrilliantButLazy brother]].
* ButtMonkey: A lot of bad stuff happens to her in the chapters that focus on her, from her weird sleep talking to being compared to a cow. And that's not getting into what all of her CuteClumsyGirl antics lead to in Kisaragi Attention and Otsukimi Recital (she runs into a pole and trips on stage during her first concert, to name a few).
* ChainedbyFashion: Her idol outfit, and in the PV for Daze.
* CoolBigSis: Acts a bit like one towards Hibiya and Hiyori, hanging out with them and treating them like younger siblings.
* CrashIntoHello: How she meets Hibiya in the anime.
* CuteClumsyGirl: She makes various slip-ups in Kisaragi Attention; like accidentally stepping on a cat's tail, breaking the tree branch she's sitting on, smacking her face on a pole, throwing her used soda can away only for it to bounce right back and hit her on the face, and slipping and falling from the wall she's sitting on.
** This continues on in ''Otsukimi Recital'' where she falls during her performance in from her heels, accidentally steps on a cat's tail again, and falls down again from the wall but dragging Hibiya this time.
* DisappearedDad: [[spoiler: He died to save Momo from drowning when they went to the beach together.]]
* FashionableAsymmetry: In her idol outfit, her skirt and her legs (one of them is a stocking while the other is socks).
* FragileFlower: As a child. According to Shintaro, she used to cry a lot when they were younger.
* GamerChick: In the manga, Shintaro mentions that she's fond of LetsPlay videos.
* GenkiGirl: She isn't an idol for nothing.
* IdolSinger: Though she really only became one because of her ability. She chose to take the talent scout's offer only to help with her family's financial problems.
* IJustWantToBeNormal: What caused her to join the Mekakushi Dan. She doesn't like that her powers cause some others to hate her as a result due to all the attention lavished on her when she uses it. Plus she inadvertently becomes the center of attention even when she tries to go outside incognito.
* IJustWantToHaveFriends: As a result of her power, she doesn't feel she can get close to anyone, until she met Kido and the others.
* ItsAllMyFault:
** In the novels and anime, it's implied that [[spoiler: she blames herself for her father's death.]]
** [[spoiler: In the manga, she blames herself for Hiyori's disappearance as she's the one who suggests to Hibiya to take Hiyori to the park.]]
* HairDecorations: Momo tends to wear her short hair with a few ribbons.
* HeroicBSOD: The call with [[spoiler:Hiyori ends with a terrified scream and then the line goes silent]]
* LastNameBasis: Shintaro and Mary are the only ones that address her by her first name.
* LittleSisterHeroine: Subverted. She may be the protagonist's younger sister, but she thankfully does not possess any of the traits associated with this trope.
* ManicPixieDreamGirl: Acts like one to Hibiya in ''Otsukimi Recital''.
** She's also one of these towards the Mekakushi Dan as a whole. Her rendition of ''Otsukimi Recital'' in the anime not only brings Hibiya out of his depression, but Kano as well. Seto even lampshades it by saying it's what makes her a good idol.
* {{Obasan}}: Nickname Hibiya gives her as seen in his quote below.
* PinkMeansFeminine: Her pink hoodie.
* PluckyGirl
* RomanticTwoGirlFriendship: A minor one with Marry. Even Ene sees it, wondering if they're the "rumored yuri" in the manga.
* RousingSpeech: Gives one to Hibiya in Otsukimi Recital.
* ShipperOnDeck: For Hiyori/Hibiya, as revealed in chapter 19 of the manga.
* SiblingYinYang: With Shintaro.
* SlapstickKnowsNoGender:
* StrangeGirl: Her taste in food and strange fashion taste implies that she's this.
* TomboyAndGirlyGirl: GirlyGirl to Kido's {{Tomboy}}.
* TookALevelInJerkass: She has much less patience for Shintaro in the manga, at one point starting an argument with him over what he's wearing, of all things.
* {{Tsundere}}: A very light B example. She's just as nice as [[NiceGuy Seto]] and is modest to boot. [[PervertRevengeMode Get on her bad side though, and you're in for some violence.]] Just ask [[AccidentalPervert Shintaro]], [[AdorablyPrecociousChild Hibiya]], or [[TheTease Kano]].
* VitriolicBestBuds: With Hibiya. Though usually a very nice girl, Momo isn't hesitant to [[WouldHurtAChild hit Hibiya during their little arguments.]] However, she's also [[BigSisterInstinct very protective of him]] and [[LikeBrotherAndSister consistently treats him like a second brother.]]
* WouldHurtAChild: Punches Hibiya in the gut for calling her "obasan".
* ZettaiRyouiki: On one leg in her idol clothes. Her school uniform is a Grade B in the anime, Grade C in the manga.

* BecomingTheMask: [[spoiler:Her cheery attitude was at first a mixture of her joy at having a body that didn't need sleep (compare her attitude as the narcoleptic Takane) and [[ManicPixieDreamGirl an attempt to cheer Shintaro up]], but after acting that way for two years, she's grown into a more positive, energetic outlook - even when she goes back to her human body]].
* BerserkButton: Do not ask her about her past. Shintaro learned it in the hard way. Subverted in the anime where she has no problem telling everyone in the Dan about it ''except'' Shintaro. [[spoiler: However, talking about Haruka in a bad way does the charm.]]
* {{Expy}}: Of [[Music/{{Vocaloid}} Hatsune Miku]], since the franchise began as a series of songs made with Music/{{Vocaloid}}. In the early days of the series before she got an official design, Ene was even more of a Miku expy in appearance than she ended up being, looking ''exactly'' like Miku save for her signature baggy jersey.
* GenkiGirl: She tries to be this for Shintaro's sake, because [[spoiler: Ayano told her once (when she was still Takane Enomoto) that he needed an energetic girl who could pull him along.]]
* GirlishPigtails
* ForgottenFirstMeeting:
** [[spoiler: She and Shintaro already met before, when she was Takane and he beat her in a videogame. ** [[spoiler: May also apply to Kido and Kano, who she met as Takane on the same day.]]
* HandHidingSleeves: Of the "cute" variety. Also qualifies for the "sneaky" variety when her inner-{{Troll}} rears its head.
* HeadphonesEqualIsolation: Seems to be the case when [[spoiler: she was Takane. Not only was she mostly friendless, her song Headphone Actor, outright exploits this.]]
* HeroicBSOD: [[spoiler: Upon learning about Haruka's death]] in the anime.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Towards Shintaro.
* InsideAComputerSystem
* KarmaHoudini: In episode 5, she was the one who forced Shintaro to strip to his underwear and later acknowledges it. Despite this, Shintaro is the one who's treated as a pervert and [[DoubleStandardAbuseFemaleOnMale gets beat up by his little sister.]]
* KilledOffForReal: [[spoiler: Killed by Shintaro in Route XX when he got fed up of her.]]
* ManicPixieDreamGirl:
** Both a Reconstruction and Deconstruction. In the story proper she can dedicate herself to helping Shintaro both because she's a cyber girl without much else going on in her life and because it amuses her. In the alternate Route XX, Shintaro eventually gets fed up with her for this reason--he sees her as nothing more than a shallow program for talking to, without real feelings or concerns.
** [[spoiler:Kano also turns this around on her in the anime, accusing her trying to make Shintaro forget about Ayano rather than truly helping him get past it, and doing so as a way of forgetting her own loss of Haruka, making her as dependent on Shintaro as he is to her.]]
* MeaningfulRename: [[spoiler:'''E'''nomoto Taka'''ne''']]
* TheNotLoveInterest: To Shintaro. They start with a dynamic that implies a romantic relationship will develop (she's his sole companion as a {{Hikikomori}}, and - {{Troll}}ing aside - is [[ManicPixieDreamGirl constantly trying to get him outside and participating in things]]), but when Ene's backstory as [[spoiler:Takane Enomoto]] is revealed, it turns out that she was in love (and still has feelings for) [[spoiler:Haruka Kokonose - a.k.a. * OlderThanSheLooks: She's 19, but actually looks relatively younger than Momo.
* ThatManIsDead: [[spoiler: She hates talking about her past as Takane. Even after getting her body back, she corrects Momo when she calls her "Takane", and insists on "Ene".]]

* BewareTheQuietOnes: He usually seems slow and absent-minded, but when Shintaro helps him look for Hibiya and Hiyori in episode 5 of the anime, the former tells the latter that the two kids being forced into a van by a bunch of men isn't good. Konoha processes it as a bad thing, and immediately pulls a BigDamnHeroes for them, moving really fast, stopping the van from moving at all, and ''crushing open the back door with his bare hands'' to rescue them.

* FriendToAllChildren: He's shown to be very protective of and gentle with Hiyori and Hibiya, who are the youngest of the cast.
* FragileFlower:
** To an extent. He's emotionally like a child and his feelings are easily hurt; he looks like a kicked puppy when young Hibiya continues to spurn him out of jealousy.

* {{Sleepyhead}}: Slept for 14 hours in episode 4 of the anime.
* TakingTheBullet: During the anime's last episode, [[spoiler:he takes a bullet meant for Ene. Unfortunately, the injury also opens him up [[DemonicPossession for the Wide-Eyes snake to possess him...]]]]
* TrademarkFavoriteFood: Negima
* TranquilFury: Don't hurt his friends or do anything he perceives to be bad, he will pound you into the ground, all the while still maintaining his soft, air-headed voice. The effect is rather formidable.
* WhenHeSmiles: Just watch Summertime Record, the video says it all.
* WhiteHairBlackHeart: A subversion; he may look and may have originally been made for the part, but he's probably the nicest and most innocent of the entire cast.

* AdaptationDyeJob: In the anime, his shirt changes from red to blue and his hair is slightly more messy. His shirt is red in flashback scenes in the anime, though.
* AdultChild: In the past at least. He tended to come off more like one of Takane and Haruka's friends rather than their teacher, especially since more often than not it was Takane scolding him for doing irresponsible things.
* AlmightyJanitor: He's good enough at programming to code a fully functional shooting game with decent graphics in under a week. Takane wonders why he's just a meager highschool homeroom teacher if he's got that kind of skill.

* IllGirl: Her illness was enough reason for her to be admitted in a special section of the school where students who need special care are put into classes with a small number of students.
* LittleMissBadass: Needless to say, she doesn't look someone who managed to place 2nd in a shooting game tournament. She throws her first opponent during the school festival COMPLETELY off guard.
* MasculineGirlFeminineBoy: Masculine girl to Haruka's feminine boy.
* NoGuyWantsAnAmazon: A minor and subverted case of this. She desperately tries to hide her famous gaming reputation because she's terrified that Haruka will have a negative opinion of her if he discovers her hobby is playing a violent zombie shooter game. However, this turns out to all be in her head since Haruka proves to be ''very'' impressed by her abilities when they come to light, and later, even asks her to teach him how to play the game.
* NotSoDifferent: To Shintaro. When she lists his negative traits (egotistical, secretive, ill-tempered, and never focused on anything) she realizes that they're exactly the same.
* ParentalAbandonment: She lives with her grandmother. Her parents are almost always overseas due to their jobs.
* RapunzelHair: [[spoiler:When she gets her body back after two years. Not in the anime though, where her body's hair length has somehow stayed the same.]]

* SkirtOverSlacks
* SleepyHead: In addition to the fact she can fall asleep without warning due to her narcolepsy, she's often tired and cranky and sleeps long hours if she's allowed. Takane has expressed disdain for her sleepiness.
* {{Tomboy}}: She's got a rough personality, wears pants under her school uniform, and she's an expert at shooting games. She admits that she doesn't 'get' feminine hobbies.

* HeterosexualLifePartners: [[spoiler: With Shintaro.]]
* IconicItem: His sketchbook.
* IDidntTellYouBecauseYoudBeUnhappy: Haruka didn't object when Mr. Tateyama and Takane made the initial decision not to participate in the Cultural Festival even though it was something he really wanted to do, because he figured that his body's limitations might be a burden, and he didn't want to trouble Takane with something she wasn't interested in. When she learns this, Takane chides him for not speaking up.
* IJustWantToBeNormal: A much more true-to-life example. While he clearly enjoys life in all the ways that he can, he resents that his frail body prevents him from doing as many things as other kids. [[spoiler: Unfortunately for Haruka, [[BeCarefulWhatYouWishFor he ends up forcefully given the supernaturally strong body of his game avatar and then has his memories wiped, when what he desperately wanted was to be strong as himself.]]]]
* IllGirl: The reason why he's in the "special needs" class along with Takane. He ends up missing quite a bit of school because of his poor health.
* InnocentFanserviceGirl: Doesn't seem to understand why Takane is so flustered when he strips in front of her.
* InTouchWithHisFeminineSide: Takane describes his demeanor as being somewhat 'like a girl', which isn't helped by the fact he's got a [[GenderBlenderName unisex name]]. He's also (understandably) unathletic, and he's very even-tempered.
* {{Keet}}: A bit more subdued and easy-going than the typical example, but he's very cheery and enthusiastic nonetheless.
* LastWords: In the novel, his last thoughts before [[spoiler: being thrown into the daze are [[KilledMidSentence "If I could have one last wish granted, it would be to tell the girl who would always hit me for being so naive..."]]]]
** In the anime, they are [[spoiler: [[DyingDeclarationOfLove "I want to see you, Takane"]]]].
* LivingEmotionalCrutch: [[spoiler: For Shintaro]]
* MasculineGirlFeminineBoy: Feminine boy to Takane's masculine girl.
* MasterOfTheMixedMessage: Because he's naturally so straightforward and sincere, even when he compliments her or does nice things for her, Takane finds it difficult to tell if there are any deeper feelings attached. [[spoiler: There are.]]
* MissingMom: As of [[spoiler: Over the Dimension, Haruka's mom is said to have died from the same disease Haruka is currently dying from.]]
* NiceGuy
* ObliviousToLove: Seems to be unaware of Takane's rather obvious crush on him.
* OddFriendship: See [[spoiler: Shintaro's entry.]]
* SavvyGuyEnergeticGirl: Inverted, he's the Energetic Guy to Takane's Savvy Girl.
* SecretlyDying: [[spoiler: The day of the cultural festival is the day Haruka only has a year left to live. Naturally, as the trope implies, he tells no one (the exception is Shintaro).]]
* SoapOperaDisease: His illness is never referred by anything other than vague terms. That being said, there are a few hints that it's some sort of heart condition.
* StepfordSmiler: He's a mild case of Type-A. Most of his cheerfulness is genuine, but he tends to shove any insecurities he has about his health problems under a rug.
* UnwillingRoboticisation: He becomes [[spoiler:Konoha.]]

!!Wide-Open Eyes Snake

-> ''"Aah, such '''unsightly''' lives!"''

-->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/MamoruMiyano

The snake possessing [[spoiler: Kenjirou (and later, Konoha)]], making a first appearance in the fifth novel. It exists solely to grant wishes; when active, the snake manifests as a split personality for its host while they are asleep or unconscious. And it will use every method in its disposal to grant that said wish... [[spoiler: It can take as much time as it needs, since granting a wish will end its existence.]]
%% Do not add the "oh his power is nullifying other powers" to this section. Until there is official statement about his eye ability from the novels and manga, it should not be assumed his immunity to the powers is the result of his eye ability. The only stated nature of the power is from episode 9 of the anime. And no, he did not use his ability to be able to injure Konoha, unless you want to argue that the tree branch Konoha impaled himself on in the novels was using an eye ability too.

%%Konoha's eyes become red in episode 12 to take the bullet from Takane. I am sure that he did NOT activate his eye power prior to being impaled by the branch in the LN.
''Appears in: Dead and Seek, Outer Science''

''Cameos in: Lost Time Memory, Children Record & daze''

* AllOfTheOtherReindeer: Azami is implied to treat him like this, as she considers him a "trouble maker".
* AndIMustScream: [[spoiler:His ultimate fate in the anime, implicitly. [[BeCarefulWhatYouWishFor He begs for a wish to continue existing, and he gets one]]. Konoha's final wish - to save Hiyori - allows him to continue existing. As a non-sentient surrogate life-force for Hiyori]].

* TheBadGuyWins: [[spoiler:Succeeds in killing all of Marry's friends and Kenjiro in Outer Science.]]
* BatmanGambit:

** [[spoiler: It's implied that he allowed Ayano to find out about his scheme to create a new Medusa knowing that [[MartyrWithoutACause she would sacrifice herself rather than let her friends and family die]], as her suicide is a major part of his master plan.]]
* BigBad
* BreakThemByTalking: Delivers on of these speeches to [[spoiler: Kano]] after Ayano's suicide.
* CessationOfExistence: [[spoiler: What the snake faces once the snake grants the asker's wish. He wants to avoid this as much as possible, so he forces Mary's hand to reset time, with the goal of living forever.]]
* TheChessmaster: [[spoiler: Has used Kenjirou's influence to obtain several contacts within the police, healthcare and other organizations. Hence why no one questions Haruka and Takane's disappearance, nor helps the Dan in the bad end]].
* DarkIsEvil: [[spoiler: In comparison to Konoha, who has white hair and wears a white shirt, Kuroha has black hair and wears a black shirt.]]
* DemonicPossession: [[spoiler: On Kenjirou, and later, Konoha.]]
* EvilGloating: [[spoiler:His song, ''Outer Science'' is basically three and a half minutes of him lording his successful murder spree of Marry's friends over her.]]
* EvilIsHammy: For [[OneSceneWonder all the time he had in the anime in Konoha's body]], the snake certainly made up for it by milking his lines with every ounce he had.
* EvilSoundsDeep: His voice is noticeably deeper than [[spoiler:Konoha, post possession]].
* EvilWearsBlack
* [[invoked]]FanNickname: Kuroha for when [[spoiler:he possesses Konoha.]] This form is called [[spoiler:"Dark Konoha", "Black Konoha" and "Konoha?"]] in official materials, but much less frequently.
* HellishPupils: When possessing people. As Kuroha, he even gets [[SupernaturalGoldEyes yellow irises too]]!
* HiddenEyes: When he appears [[spoiler:at the start of Chapter 18]] of the manga, the first panel has him looking like this. [[ObviouslyEvil Needless to say, it's foreboding]].
* InLoveWithYourCarnage:
** [[spoiler:He laughs at Azami's struggle and how badly her wish backfired after Shion and Marry die, seems to take pleasure in Ayano's suicide, despite it apparently being detrimental to his plan, and during the last episode of the anime outright says he finds the Dan's struggling to avert tragedy amusing.]].
** His tone of voice sounds utterly ''orgasmic'' as [[spoiler:Marry [[PainfulTransformation transforms into the Queen]] and is about to reset time in Episode 12 of the anime. Apparently he ''really'' wants to watch the cast struggle in their plight all over again]].
* InterruptedSuicide: [[spoiler:In Route 1 of Lost Time Memory. Shintaro [[TakingTheBullet takes the bullet]] for him]].
* ItAmusedMe: Seemingly his motivation for everything he's done so far.
* JerkAss: A major understatement.
* LiteralGenie:
** [[spoiler:Is compelled to grant Kenjirou's wish to see Ayaka again, but because he will disappear if the wish is granted, he does so in a way that undermines his own attempts at fulfilling the wish, giving him an excuse to reset the world again and again in order to try one more time. This allows the snake to exist forever - its actual agenda]].
** [[spoiler: However, this aspect of him also proves to be [[HoistByHisOwnPetard his own undoing.]] When Kenjirou's wish is fulfilled, the Wide-Eyed Snake has no choice but to fulfill Konoha's wish of saving Hiyori, forced to become her replacement life and his consciousness disappearing as a result of fulfilling the wish.]]
* MakeAWish: Any wish. He'll use any method and any resource at his disposal in order to grant it, regardless of whether his actions conflict with your ideals or ethics. Interestingly, unlike most reality-warping magic wish granters, his capability to grant a wish is limited to what his host is capable of; with Azami and Marry, he can tap into their vast magical power to induce miracles like creating a new world and turning back time, but with the human Kenjirou as his host, the snake is reduced to using means like money and influence in order to achieve his master's wish.
* ManipulativeBastard:
** [[spoiler: Add the fact that he has lied to Kenjirou about being able to meet Ayaka again. For the past 2 years has manipulated Kano into cooperating with him by threatening to murder his family. Aaaaand tricked Azami into creating the never ending world in the first place.]]
** [[spoiler:He also manipulated Ayano into committing suicide as part of his bid for eternity.]]
** And ''on top of all that'' [[spoiler:we now know he's the one who is forcing Marry's hand and making her reset time]].
* MurderIsTheBestSolution: All his plans involves killing something and that is an understatement.
* NoSell: The manga reveals that [[spoiler:he's completely immune to the other members' powers, as he sees right through Kido's Concealment ability.]]
* NotEvenHuman
* PsychoticSmirk: His default expression, being a snake. It is more prominent however when he is [[spoiler: possessing Kenjirou]].
* RedEyesTakeWarning
* RippleEffectProofMemory: He is able to [[spoiler: remember the events of other timelines, presumably as a part of his blanket immunity to other snakes' powers]].
* SexIsViolence: His voice and mannerisms are in a perpetual state of arousal, particularly during ''Outer Science'' [[spoiler: where he's seen with a particularly suggestive face while he's standing in a pool of the Dan's blood.]]
* SlasherSmile: His expression shifts to this when he [[spoiler:possesses Konoha.]]
* TheSociopath: [[spoiler: He is completely fine with murdering and mentally scarring children. In fact; he seems to enjoy it a tiny bit too much.]]
* VillainousBreakdown: Has one during episode 12 of the anime [[spoiler: when the plan to reset the world becomes sabotaged.]]
* VirtueIsWeakness: He looks at humans with their love, friendship and hope: "How foolish!"
* WalkingSpoiler: [[spoiler:Mentioning him tends to spoil a lot of the over-arching story]].
* WideEyesAndShrunkenIrises: [[spoiler: As Kuroha.]] In this case, it shows how focused he is on killing. Sometimes overlaps with MadEye when he's too busy [[SexIsViolence reveling]] in his kills.
* WouldHurtAChild: [[spoiler:Has mentally scarred Kano, laughed at Ayano's suicide and killed at least 2, and he's responsible for every character's death at the end of every route where he wins]].
* YourDaysAreNumbered: And it ''terrifies'' him. [[spoiler: The sole reason for him fueling the loops is to avoid this fate]]

[[quoteright:257:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/Kido_2020.jpg]]

-->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/YukoKaida

* JapanesePronouns:
* TomboyishPonytail:

* BigBrotherInstinct:
* HeterosexualLifePartners: With Kano.
* MayflyDecemberRomance: With Marry.
* PerpetualSmiler
* PreciousPuppy: He had one as a kid since it was the only think that didn't mock him and loved him unconditionally. [[spoiler: Sadly, he and the dog died together, and the puppy was Seto's sacrifice to escape the Haze.]]
* {{Telepathy}}: His eye power.

* BoomHeadshot: How he was [[spoiler: killed by Kuroha in Outer Science and in the manga.]]
* BigBrotherInstinct:

* HeterosexualLifePartners: With Seto.
* TheHyena: Is able to laugh even in pretty bad situations.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: He can be a bit of an ass at times, but deep down he's got a kind heart and he cares deeply for his family and friends.
* LoveMartyr:
* PerpetualSmiler
* SadClown
* TheTease:

* {{Hikikomori}}: She was raised as one.

* TheParalyzer: Her Eye Power, which renders subjects frozen in time for a temporary period. [[spoiler:It is used in conjunction with Momo's power to stop the terrorists at the mall]].

* RapunzelHair: Seems to run in the family.
* RomanticTwoGirlFriendship: A minor one with Momo as they're frequently holding hands and are friends.

* SingleWomanSeeksGoodMan: Implied to have feelings for Seto.
* StrongFamilyResemblance: Looks exactly like a younger version of her mother.
* TomboyAndGirlyGirl: GirlyGirl to Kido's {{Tomboy}}.

* ItsAllMyFault:
* PinkMeansFeminine: Her pink hoodie.
* PluckyGirl
* SiblingYinYang: With Shintaro.
* SlapstickKnowsNoGender:
* StrangeGirl: Her taste in food and strange fashion taste implies that she's this.
* TomboyAndGirlyGirl: GirlyGirl to Kido's {{Tomboy}}.

She used to be human until she lost her body in an experiment, and now has the "opening eyes" ability; a power which allows her to be immortal.

* GirlishPigtails
* ForgottenFirstMeeting:
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Towards Shintaro.
* InsideAComputerSystem
* ManicPixieDreamGirl:
* MeaningfulRename: [[spoiler:'''E'''nomoto Taka'''ne''']]
Konoha]], while Shintaro is revealed to have a mutual ShesNotMyGirlfriend dynamic with [[spoiler:Ayano Tateyama]], but [[EveryoneCanSeeIt no one believes them when they say it]].
* {{Troll}}: Towards Shintaro.

* PinkGirlBlueBoy: Blue Boy to Hiyori's Pink Girl and later Momo.
* StalkerWithACrush: To Hiyori. [[spoiler: So much that he has multiple Hiyori dolls that he sewed himself. One of them even has a recording of all of Hiyori's dialogue put into it.]]
* SupremeChef: In the anime, it's revealed that he's actually a pretty good cook.

* TokenMiniMoe: Is the youngest member of the Mekakushi Dan.
* UnluckyChildhoodFriend: Not only does Hiyori have a crush on someone else, [[spoiler: but she dies, too.]]
* VitriolicBestBuds: With Momo. He's constantly undermining her and snarking, but when it comes down to it, he clearly enjoys her company and friendship.

* {{Adorkable}}
* AmbiguouslyHuman: [[spoiler: He is Haruka in a new body based on his avatar in an online game.]]
* AmnesiaMissedASpot: In the anime, he states that the one thing can remember from his past is that [[spoiler: he wanted friends, and to have fun with them. This was one of the last things Haruka thought about before his memory was stripped from him.]]
* BigBrotherInstinct: Towards Hibiya and Hiyori.
* BigEater: In episode 4 of the anime, he eats ALL of the remaining food on the table, including what was left of a pot of rice and a pot of soup, while Hibiya and Hiyori were arguing.
* BlackAndWhiteMorality: As soon as he realises that someone/thing isn't good, he unleashes hell on it until it stops doing bad things.

* CloudCuckooLander: He talks really slow and doesn't seem to know about basic things such as policemen.
* CruelAndUnusualDeath:
** [[spoiler: Possibly metaphorical. In Outer Science he is seen being ''eaten from the inside out'' by his snakes.]]
** [[spoiler: In the anime he is crushed between a van and a moving truck while trying to save Hiyori and Hibiya.]]
* CryCute: The normally near-expressionless Konoha starts crying when Momo takes Hibiya away from him and Kano after mistaking them for kidnappers in the manga.
* CyberneticsEatYourSoul: [[spoiler:Downplayed. While he seemingly becomes more stoic, he still shows great concern and worry for Hiyori and Hibiya in Konoha no Sekai Jijou]]
* DemonicPossession: Somewhere along the line, [[spoiler: he inevitably is transformed into the sadistic and homicidal antagonist Kuroha when the Wide-Eyes snake leaves Kenjirou to take over his body. When exactly it happens differs depending on the timeline.]]
* EasyAmnesia: Hibiya had to re-introduce himself to Konoha four times in the anime. Konoha also has to think really hard to remember Hiyori's name despite the fact she's been staying in the same house as him.
* EvilCostumeSwitch: [[spoiler: His hair, choker, boots and over-shirt turn black, his facial markings and eyes turn yellow and (in the anime only) his yellow-green trousers turn grey when the Wide-Eyes snake takes up the reins and turns him into Kuroha]].
* FacialMarkings: He's got two red circles connected by a line under the corner of his right eye. [[spoiler: Which is where he had a [[BeautyMark mole]] when he was Haruka.]]
* FlashStep: Holy cow he's lightning fast. It's even portrayed with a flash of light trailing his movements when he goes full speed in the anime.
* FriendToAllChildren: He's shown to be very protective of and gentle with Hiyori and Hibiya, who are the youngest of the cast.
* FragileFlower:
** To an extent. He's emotionally like a child and his feelings are easily hurt; he looks like a kicked puppy when young Hibiya continues to spurn him out of jealousy.
** He's also visibly on the verge of tears in the anime's 5th Episode when Shintaro scolds him for bothering strangers instead of asking the police for help in finding Hibiya and Hiyori.
* GentleGiant: The tallest in the cast, but easily one of the kindest.
* GrandTheftMe: [[spoiler:The transformation into Kuroha involves having his consciousness repressed to the point of destruction by the Wide-Eyes Snake, who then takes up the reins.]]
* HeroicSacrifice:
** [[spoiler: When Shintaro falls down a cliff in the Novel, Konoha saves his life by throwing himself after him and taking the blow of the fall. This results in his own death.]]
** [[spoiler: Before the truck hits them all in the anime, he is seen embracing Hibiya and Hiyori in an attempt to protect them. It seems he took Shintaro's place in the daze too when the latter got involved.]]
** [[spoiler:He ultimately sacrifices himself to bring Hiyori back to life.]]
* HiddenBadass: May seem unlikely taking his personality in accord, but in the manga he did [[spoiler: bring down a whole group of armed terrorists]] without breaking a single sweat. * MusclesAreMeaningless: Can carry Shintaro just fine without breaking a sweat.
* NiceGuy: Even though Shintaro and Kido sent him on pointless goose-chases to find Mary's mother diary (and not even calling him when they found it elsewhere), he felt relief rather than annoyance.
* ObliviousToLove: Seems completely unaware of Hiyori's rather obvious crush on him, as well as Hibiya's crush on Hiyori - hence why he's so dumbfounded by Hibiya's hatred towards him. [[spoiler:His tendency to attract the attention of pigtailed-{{Tsundere}}s is surely a carry over from his previous self]].
* PowerAtAPrice: [[spoiler: He has the ability of Awakening Eyes, an ability which lets him have the body which he thought was ideal. The consequence of this ability however was his memory loss.]]
* SoullessShell:
** [[spoiler: In the anime at least, he is explicitly portrayed as an empty body whose soul, Haruka, was left behind in the heat haze. However, Haruka considers him his "other-self".]]
** [[spoiler: He's been compared to being Haruka's "autopilot" which has been forced to keep the aircraft going after the pilot got off. Presumably this means that Konoha is Haruka's basal personality that out of necessity has had to redevelop on his own.]]
** [[spoiler: The Wide-Eyed Snake implies that the driving force behind Konoha's personality is the result of the snake inside him attempting to carry out Haruka's final wish to spend time with friends.]]
* TrademarkFavoriteFood: Negima

!!Takane Enomoto

->''It’s surprisingly not boring.''
[[quoteright:163:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/yuukeiyes_3190.png]]

-->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/KanaAsumi

A girl with an illness which causes her to lose consciousness at random times (narcolepsy), she has an affinity for video games.

She shares a homeroom class with Haruka and their homeroom teacher is Kenjirou. They work on a video game called "Headphone Actor" for the school festival, and when the world was about to end she was the only one running against the crowd of people.

''Appears in: Headphone Actor, Children Record & Yuukei Yesterday''

''Cameos in: Konoha no Sekai Jijou, Ayano no Koufuku Riron, Outer Science, Summertime Record & daze''

-----
* AlwaysSecondBest: Loses to only [[BrilliantButLazy Shintaro]] in the Headphone Actor shooting game. Much like how she placed second in a national tournament. To be fair, it's implied that Shintaro was also the first place player in that tournament.
* BreakTheHaughty: [[spoiler:Haruka's final hospitalization scene where Takane feels extreme guilt for acting selfishly in hopes he would pay attention to her. She's left wondering if his current state could've possibly been avoided had she bothered to check on him immediately when he didn't respond to her, instead of letting herself wallow in self pity thinking he was ignoring her.]]
* BroodingBoyGentleGirl: Inverted, she's the Brooding Girl to Haruka's Gentle Boy.
* TheCaretaker: To a certain extent, Takane is an unofficial one for Haruka. She helps keep him in line when his spaciness causes him to behave outside of social norms, and she also fusses over his health. [[spoiler: Which makes it all the more heartbreaking when the one time she ignores him, he suffers his worst attack.]]
* DeadpanSnarker
* DigitalAvatar: Takane was famous over the net as the gamer who went by 'lightningdancer-Ene'. [[spoiler: However, her avatar design was notably different than the 'Ene' she became.]]
* DyingDeclarationOfLove: [[spoiler:Her last words before turning into Ene were "Haruka... I love you."]]
* EmbarrassingNickname: She doesn't seem to mind when she's playing, but in real life, she finds her username 'lightningdancer-Ene' to be horribly embarrassing because she thinks it's really pretentious.
* ExpressiveHair: Her pigtails tend to fly up when she's shocked or angry ([[{{Tsundere}} or both]]), or when Haruka does anything inappropriate by accident or unexpected.
* ForgottenFirstMeeting: With Shintaro, see [[spoiler: Ene above]].
* GamerChick
* GenreSavvy: When forcing Haruka to re-dress after she found him half-naked in their classroom, she notes how the situation is "like something from a shoujo manga, and will probably be misunderstood". That's exactly what happens when their [[NotWhatItLooksLike teacher walks in the room]].
* GirlishPigtails: Despite her decidedly ungirlish personality.
* HairTriggerTemper: She readily snaps a people when she's feeling irritated, and she's VERY easily irritated.
* IconicItem: Her headphones. She's not the only character with headphones but she's distinctly associated with them far more than any of the others.
* SavvyGuyEnergeticGirl: An inverted example, she's the Savvy Girl to Haruka's Energetic Guy.
* SingleWomanSeeksGoodMan: Her crush on Haruka.
* SkirtOverSlacks
* {{Tsundere}}: Takane is textbook Type-A Tsundere. The song Yuukei Yesterday is about her aggressively denying, and then later begrudgingly accepting, that she has a crush on Haruka.
* VitriolicBestBuds: With Shintaro

!!Haruka Kokonose

->''Eh? H~m, okay.... But um..... Huh? My shirt isn't here.... Shirt~....''
[[quoteright:170:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/yuukeiyes_2_7703.png]]

-->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/MamoruMiyano

A boy with a very weak body. Takane's classmate in homeroom. He's a very cheerful guy, but he seems really slow at times and tends to act at his own pace.

He's very good at drawing, and as such designs the characters and draws all to backgrounds for the video game his class works on for the school festival. He is periodically sent to the hospital due to his condition.

''Appears in: Children Record, Yuukei Yesterday & Summertime Record''

''Cameos in: Konoha no Sekai Jijou, Ayano no Koufuku Riron, Outer Science & daze''

-----
* {{Adorkable}}
* AndIMustScream: Ends up [[spoiler: tied to a hospital bed in an isolated space of the daze with a multitude of IV Bag lines piercing him. He is then forcefully made to watch as the Wide Open Eyes snake uses his body to kill his friends over and over again]]
* BeautyMark: Under the corner of his right eye.
* BigEater: He buys several bagfuls of festival food during the cultural festival and eats it all by himself.
* BreakTheCutie: [[spoiler:The "Konoha no Sekai Jijou" chapter of the novel reveals that it wasn't Konoha but ''Haruka'' that witnessed Hiyori's GroundHogDayLoop. When it is finally time for him to leave, the only thing left of the once cheerful boy is a self-loathing wreck. In the anime, his refusal to become Konoha]]
* BroodingBoyGentleGirl: Inverted, he's the Gentle Boy to Takane's Brooding Girl.
* CloudCuckooLander: Among other things, he saw absolutely no problems with walking around in his underwear at school after his clothes got soaked from him falling into a fountain.
* DespairEventHorizon:
** [[spoiler:Realizing in his final moments that no matter what he does, even if he gets his wish granted, he can never be normal.]]
** [[spoiler: Given the choice of either forgetting or being forgotten by his friends does not help either. Poor Haruka was too late with an answer and didn't even get to say goodbye.]]
* DigitalAvatar: He creates Konoha as his gaming avatar and internet username.
* EeriePaleSkinnedBrunette: He's got dark hair, and an ultra-pale complexion that serves as a reminder that he's unwell. Although, his sunny disposition tends to betray how serious his illness is.
* GeniusDitz: He's really air-headed, but it's pointed out he's good at academics, and is shown to help both Takane and Ayano with their schoolwork.
* HeterosexualLifePartners: [[spoiler: With Shintaro.]]
* IconicItem: His sketchbook.
* LivingEmotionalCrutch: [[spoiler: For Shintaro]]
* NiceGuy
* UnwillingRoboticisation: He becomes [[spoiler:Konoha.]]

!!Wide-Open Eyes Snake

-> ''"Aah, such '''unsightly''' lives!"''

-->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/MamoruMiyano

----

* AllOfTheOtherReindeer: Azami is implied to treat him like this, as she considers him a "trouble maker".
* AndIMustScream: [[spoiler:His ultimate fate in the anime, implicitly. [[BeCarefulWhatYouWishFor He begs for a wish to continue existing, and he gets one]]. Konoha's final wish - to save Hiyori - allows him to continue existing. As a non-sentient surrogate life-force for Hiyori]].
* AxCrazy: [[spoiler: In Kuroha form.]] When in that particular state, one of the first things he does is straight-up murder everyone in the area- [[spoiler: namely, the Dan.]]
* TheBadGuyWins: [[spoiler:Succeeds in killing all of Marry's friends and Kenjiro in Outer Science.]]
* BatmanGambit:
** [[spoiler:His attempted shot at Ene in the anime's last episode could be taken as this; he knew Konoha would protect her ([[GroundhogDayLoop if anything because he's done it before]]), and that in doing so would leave himself open to possession]].
** [[spoiler: It's implied that he allowed Ayano to find out about his scheme to create a new Medusa knowing that [[MartyrWithoutACause she would sacrifice herself rather than let her friends and family die]], as her suicide is a major part of his master plan.]]
* BigBad
* EvilWearsBlack
* InLoveWithYourCarnage:
* JerkAss: A major understatement.
* LiteralGenie:
* ManipulativeBastard:
* NotEvenHuman
* PsychoticSmirk: His default expression, being a snake. It is more prominent however when he is [[spoiler: possessing Kenjirou]].
* RedEyesTakeWarning
