* HalfTheManHeUsedToBe: Valmont and Jade each end up wearing half an Oni Mask, so when they summon their Crab Khan, they each end up getting the left and right halves of each mook. Valmont's Shadowkhan retain the heads, while Jade's don't.

* LightningBruiser: When they are whole, they come off as strong, fast and durable.

* WhoNeedsTheirWholeBody: Played with. The left half-Shadowkhan (the ones who retained the heads) are able to fight with surprising effectively. The headless right half-Shadowkhan can barely get anything done.

* JackOfAllStats: When compared to the other Shadowkhan, they appear to be the most versatile. Most of the others are physically stronger, but only a select few, like the Razor Khan, can rival them in speed and agility. Though incapable of flight like the Bat Khan, their uniforms have tissue that allows them to glide. The Razor and Samurai Khan fight with knives and katanas, respectively, the Bat Khan can shoot laser from their hands, and all the others fight unarmed, but the Ninja Khan demonstrate proficiency with different weapons (mainly shuriken for long-range fighting like the Bat Khan's lasers) and unarmed combat.

* FingerPokeOfDoom: Just a flip is enough to send Hak Foo flying through a wall.

* SuperStrength: The Ox Talisman is needed to match them.

* WhoNeedsTheirWholeBody: Played with. The left half-Shadowkhan (the ones who retained the heads) are able to fight somewhat effectively. The headless right half-Shadowkhan can barely get anything done.

* FakeUltimateMook: They're big, heavily armored samurai that wield shadow swords able to cut through anything, yet in the end they're just as easily defeated as the Ninja Khan (or even easier). The fact that they're [[ButtMonkey Ikazuki's]] Shadowkhan is a justification.

* SatanicArchetype: Tarakudo has red and black colors in addition to horns and fangs. He also holds command over nine other demons and their infinite armies from the Shadowrealm as their Lord and King. Oh, and any mortal who marks themselves with his face is corrupted into a demon.

Demonic shadow spirits. They were introduced as {{ninja}}s who served Shendu, and briefly [[KidWithTheLeash Jade]]. In Season 4, we learn that their original masters were the Oni, and there are 9 different varieties of them.

* DarkIsEvil: Quite literally, see LivingShadow.

* EliteMooks: They are far more skilled and deadly than The Enforcers.
* EvilWearsBlack: They wear black clothes (or black skin).

* {{Hive Drone}}s: The Shadowkhan armies are pretty much this if the respective Oni General or Oni Mask wielder is the HiveQueen: they have a wide range of abilities by default, they don't speak or show individualism whatsoever, and they materialize only to protect their master and carry out orders without question.

* TheLegionsOfHell: They're demonic warriors serving ten Japanese demons, they originate from the Shadowrealm, and they're so numerous that they can cover the entire Earth in darkness.

** When Jade got control of the Ninja Khan in ''Queen of the Shadowkhan'', she used them as household servants.

* ShadowWalker: The Shadowkhan can use shadows as dimensional doors. They once traveled through the Shadow Realm in order to enter Jade's dream.

* VillainOverride: It's shown in ''Black Magic'' that an Oni Mask wielder can [[SeeingThroughAnothersEyes see and hear through their Shadowkhan's senses]].
* TheVoiceless: They never speak, and it's likely that they even ''can't'' speak.

* JackOfAllStats: When compared to the other Shadowkhan, they appear to be the most versatile. Most of the others are physically stronger, but the Razor Khan are probably the only ones who can rival them in speed and agility. Though incapable of flying like the Bat Khan, their uniforms have tissue that allows them to glide. They also demonstrate proficiency with different weapons, while the Razor and Samurai Khan focus only on knives and katanas, respectively.

* FragileSpeedster: Overlapping with GlassCannon. They seem to be the fastest land-based type of Shadowkhan, and their razor-sharp blades can cut through steel.

* DefeatEqualsExplosion: When they "die", they vaporize into black mist.

* JackOfAllStats: When compared to the other Shadowkhan, they appear to be the most versatile.
* McNinja: Subverted. They initially seem like this, as ninjas are Japanese and Shendu is ''Chinese''. Eventually it's revealed that Shendu merely possessed the mask that grants control over them.
* MookCarryover: Inverted. They are introduced as servants of Shendu, but they originally served Tarakudo, despite him not appearing until Season 4. Played straight with Jade's [[SuperPoweredEvilSide Queen of the Shadowkhan persona]] and to a lesser extent with Chow when he puts on the mask, though in both cases the summoner became BrainwashedAndCrazy. Daolon Wong ''tried'' to do this, but ended up freeing Tarakudo instead, though he had briefly controlled them in an earlier episode.
