* NoNonsenseNemesis: While they do have their quirks, they are certainly less prone to VillainBall moments than most of the villains, if anything if not for the intervention of Sesshomaru and Myoga, the group would've suffered severe casualties
* OneManArmy: There are only seven of them, but each could take down a battalion easily
* OurZombiesAreDifferent: With the sacred jewel, they were resurrected to their former state, but had the smell of cemetery ground and enhanced strength

* SlidingScaleOfVillainEffectiveness: Their encounter is the first time Inuyasha has been very close to having his friends die not because of their power, but because they're savvy enough to target the group while he's busy

* SevenDeadlySins: They all conveniently fit this.
** Pride: Bankotsu, being the leader of the Band of Seven, states at one point that he "does what he wants with no fear of the afterlife." He's also a big talker, and has the skills to match.
** Greed: Renkotsu becomes obsessed with immortality and betrays his team for the jewel shards.
** Envy: Mukotsu is intent on marrying (but nonetheless raping) Kagome.
** Sloth: Suikotsu is unwilling to kill while his good side is dominant.
** Lust: Jakotsu lashes out at anyone who interferes with him and Inuyasha.
** Wrath: Let's face it, Ginkotsu is one angry dude. He doesn't express much emotion beyond anger. Same for Suikotsu's evil side.
** Gluttony: Kyokotsu eats demons. And possibly humans. This is where his immense size comes from.

* DangerouslyGenreSavvy: A brilliant aversion of the more GenreBlind villains in the series, instead of petty trickery, they use various strategic tactics in order to weaken and catch the heroes off guard. And more than one occasion did they nearly manage to kill them.

* GenreSavvy: He correctly deduces the extent of [[TheStarscream Renkotsu]]'s treachery.

* GenreSavvy: See TheUndead below. He also distrusted Naraku and his word that he would let them take the shards if they helped him, which somewhat motivated to his later [[spoiler: betrayal.]]

* BadAss: Especially in a world filled with divine powered priests and powerful demons, he manages to kick ass by just being ridiculously strong for his size

* FlatEarthAtheist: Despite living in a world where {{youkai}} and magic are common knowledge, and being a [[BackFromTheDead resurrected human]], he explicitly tells Kikyo that he doesn't believe in an afterlife.
** Its worth nothing that this could actually be a clue that his resurrection wasn't quite normal; the soul is shown to exist in Inuyasha, but if he's more of an animated corpse rather than a resurrected human, he might not have any memories of the afterlife. In that light, saying he doesn't believe in it is perfectly acceptable.
