* AmbiguousSituation: An in-universe example; [[spoiler: as detailed in her Experiment File, the manor's researchers initially couldn't determine whether it was the state of the drugs that were administered on her or simply her inherent characteristics that caused the "final results". Judging by her serial number being corrected from 0-0-3 to 0-1-3, the researchers seem to have settled on the former interpretation.]]

* {{Determinator}}: As the message attached to her portrait details, Helena "never loses her anchor between good and evil", even facing betrayal and being left with nothing to rely on.
* FatalFlaw: [[spoiler: The author of her Experiment File]] believed it to be her "excessive" compassion, which is said to have only increased as her time in the manor progressed. If said source can be trusted, this flaw led to Helena making "incorrect judgments in extreme situations" and left her vulnerable to [[spoiler: Galatea's "trap".]]
* HorribleJudgeOfCharacter: Downplayed; both her and Galatea's letters reveal that, during her time at the manor, she viewed both Galatea and Orpheus as people she could trust, something people more familiar with the truth of their respective characters would likely view as a horrible decision.

* MythicalMotifs: As hinted at by one of her clues in her character portrait, Helena's pose in said portrait is clearly meant to make her resemble the manor's statue of Calliope, the Greek muse of eloquence and poetry; areas which Helena also possesses an interest in.

* OlderThanTheyLook: At least according to one of her clues in her character portrait, which details how her round glasses make her look younger than she actually is.

* BoldExplorer: An implied trope; an anonymous writer (potentially her absent father) sent her a letter imploring her to "explore the horizons of the world", and suggesting that she may find the answers to her questions in the land of gold. The mention of a cruise ticket to Calcutta in her deductions implies that Fiona eventually went on to explore the world.

* CriticalHesitationBlunder: [[spoiler: What led to her ultimate downfall, as detailed in her Experiment File. According to the author of said Experiment File, "a moment's hesitation caused her to miss a crucial piece of "divine insight"", which in turn led to her to lose her chance to escape.]]
* {{Determinator}}: Is positioned this way by the message attached to her character portrait, which details that she is not turning back "until the doorway leads her to the ultimate truth".
* DisappearedDad: As detailed in her deductions, Fiona's father divorced Fiona's mother, and left Fiona and her mother, early in Fiona's childhood. Fiona's mother would go on to try and prevent Fiona from becoming anything like her father.

* HearingVoices: Implied; the message attached to her character portrait makes mention of "whispers in her ear" which affirm her choices.

* LaserGuidedAmnesia: As detailed in her fourth letter, she remembered going into the Holy Key, but had no recollection of what of what the other side of it was like after she left it.
* MagicalAccessory: Her Holy Key is this to her, both from a gameplay and lore-perspective. Gameplay-wise, it is capable of creating portals enabling Fiona to travel through walls and floors; lore-wise, Fiona's fourth letter reveals that she is capable of, at the very least, transferring her consciousness inside of it, though she can never remember what she sees inside it.

* AmbiguouslyEvil: Her background story video paints her in an ''extremely'' ominous light, to the point that you would be forgiven for assuming that she was meant to be a Hunter.
** There's also the question of just how her late husband died. And if she was responsible for his death, was it an example of [[TheDogBitesBack an abused spouse getting rid of her abusive partner]] or Melly getting rid of someone she thought was in her way?
*** If the description of the plot of the "Queen Bee" novel is any indication, Melly would appear to have [[spoiler: killed her husband with bees, a murder method that matches the way she claims he had died in Episode II of ''Ashes of Memory'', in order to inherit his fortune and status.]]
* AmbiguousSituation: Her true reasoning for coming to the manor, following the release of Episode II of ''Ashes of Memory'', particularly concerning the rare bee specimen that was allegedly sent to her by the manor's owner. Is Melly's story true, and her husband was indeed killed by a third party, with the rare bee specimen being sent to her by the manor owner for the reasons she claims? Or was Melly actually blackmailed into coming to the manor, with the delivery of the rare bee specimen being the manor owner's way of informing her that they were aware of what she had done?
* AnimalMotifs: Bees and butterflies, since she's an entomologist.
* BunnyEarsLawyer: Rarely shows her face and prefers to be out in the field rather than discussing her work with her colleagues in a stuffy academic association. Despite this, she has managed to become a highly respected name in the biology world.
* {{Cloudcuckoolander}}: She can sometimes come off as this as shown in the 2020 Christmas event.
* TheFaceless: Her headgear prevents her face from being seen.
** With that being said, players have been able to remove the headgear, in the process revealing her to be a reasonably attractive looking woman, whose face is partially covered by a port-wine birthmark.
** Finally fully averted following the release of Episode II of ''Ashes of Memory'' which gives players a brief glimpse of her unmasked face during her exposition on her (alleged) true reasoning for coming to the manor.
* MeaningfulName: Her name can mean "bee" or "honey". Fitting for someone who studies insects.
* NamedAfterSomeoneFamous: Possibly named after Pliny the Elder, the Roman author responsible for writing "Natural History", which is purported to cover all ancient knowledge (including sections on insects and zoology).
* NonStandardCharacterDesign: Her eyes are hexagonal and coal-like in contrast to the circular button eyes that the other Survivors have.
* PestController: Can control insects.
* RagsToRiches: Started off as a lowly maid. By the time the game takes place, she is now a well-regarded, and presumably well-off, researcher.
* StatuesqueStunner: {{Downplayed}} since her height is not actually visible in the game as female survivors usually have the same body model, but [[spoiler: Alice]] claims that she is tall by female standards and she is actually very beautiful underneath the mask.
* ATrueStoryInMyUniverse: As revealed in the Orfeo's Game anniversary event, one of Orpheus's novels - Queen Bee - told the story of a servant who married her employer and later killed him through the use of bees in order to inherit his status and fortune, only for her plans to be foiled by a detective. The plot's similarities with Melly's background are a bit too uncanny to be a coincidence.
* UnreliableExpositor: Even discounting the ambiguity surrounding her husband's death and her exact reasoning for coming to the manor, Melly frequently lies to Alice throughout ''Ashes of Memory''. In her final scene in Episode I of ''Ashes of Memory'' Melly informs Alice that she intends to resume her work in the greenhouse, and later claims to have spent the rest of the day there after Alice is brought back to the manor by Orpheus, after following unconscious at the Kreiburg Racecourse, in Episode II. However, when exploring the greenhouse at the beginning of Episode II, Alice fails to find ''anyone'' there, leaving Melly's true whereabouts during this time up in the air.

However, things spiraled out of control when Luca and Lorenz ended up in an academic dispute (Luca claimed that Lorenz was a plagiarist, while Lorenz accused Luca of selling the results of his research to his competitors) and turned on each other, apparently culminating in the two physically coming to blows, which resulted in Lorenz dying and Luca being sent sentenced to prison for his murder, with his reputation completely destroyed.
* MysteriousPast: It is mentioned in his background story that, when he emerged as a public figure, no one knew where he came from, nor were they able to trace any hints of a family. ->'''Voiced by:''' Huang Ying (Chinese), Creator/YukoKaida (Japanese)
----
* AmbiguouslyEvil: Her background story video paints her in an ''extremely'' ominous light, to the point that you would be forgiven for assuming that she was meant to be a Hunter.
* PestController: Can control insects.
* RagsToRiches: Started off as a lowly maid. By the time the game takes place, she is now a well-regarded, and presumably well-off, researcher.
* StatuesqueStunner: {{Downplayed}} since her height is not actually visible in the game as female survivors usually have the same body model, but [[spoiler: Alice]] claims that she is tall by female standards and she is actually very beautiful underneath the mask

Some people said Ganji's behavior stemmed from regret. They found a cricket ball through a broken window in Ganji’s room. He used to play for the Royal Cricket Team, yet his training ended abruptly due to a fire. Other people said that his behavior stemmed from cautiousness since he’s living in a foreign country. * HopelessWithTech: Like William he can use cipher machines, but is terrible with them.
* FriendlyRivalry: Many materials portray him acting friendly but competitively with William Ellis/The Forward, with both playing different types of sports together.
--> '''Ganji’s Deduction Star Quote:''' "You think you're better than me? Cricket or rugby?”
* KnightInSourArmor: He may seem a bit cranky but he's not a bad person by far. Ganji is selfless and kind, but his traumatic experiences have led him to be distrustful of the world around him.
* LonersAreFreaks: The general opinion about him in-universe is that his solitary nature makes him seem dangerous and many suspect that he has secrets.
* LovableJock: Ganji is a professional cricket player, quite kind, although a little grumpy, who likes to pick flowers and whose character kit is focused on being altruistic and empathetic.
* NiceGuy: Ganji, is a genuinely kind and empathetic man, despite having been hurt by the bad experiences of his past. Even his abilities revolve around being altruist and wanting to protect his allies.
* RealMenWearPink: He collects toys, especially stuffed animals, has collecting flowers as a hobbie and even wears full makeup in one of his skins (which happens to be pink).
* ShrinkingViolet: {{Implied|Trope}}. In his official Twitter responses he tries to act like a grumpy lone wolf, but only comes off as shy and nervous interacting with other people.
--> '''Ganji:''' Hey, wait, garden girl!\\
If you bring me here, I have nothing to say to anyone…!\\
No, don't go! Don't leave me!\\
……………………Um…let me see.\\
(⊗`Ê–´⊗)<……………He-hello.
* SucksAtDancing: You wouldn't be blamed if you assumed his dance emote was an attempt to start a fight.
* WeaponizedBall: He uses his cricket bat to hit a ball towards a Hunter in order to push them away.
* WouldntHurtAChild: Assuming he was the culprit who burned down the Guard's manor, the only person he spared was the son of the manor.

!!Patricia Dorval - The Enchantress
[[quoteright:233:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/patricia_dorval_full.png]]

Patricia Dorval was born on a slave ship where her mother drew her last breath. Little Patricia reached New Orleans alive, the shipowner left her on the street. She thus found a new “mother”. Patricia followed her “mother”, learning herbs, healing and cursing, and when she reached adulthood she decided to go back to her foreign homeland to look for her origin. Patricia never thought that the curse hidden in her blood would gradually emerge at the moment she stepped onto the land. After running away for a decade, she finally arrived at Oletus Manor with the curse.

[[spoiler: Inclination: ''Pagan huntress.'']]

-> '''Stage Cast:''' Otowa Micako
-> '''Voiced by:''' Zhou Shuai (Chinese), Creator/YuuKobayashi (Japanese)
----
* {{Curse}}: The source of her strange abilities.
* CorruptedCharacterCopy: Her S-tier skin “Maroon Crystal” is this for Dorothy Gale from The Wizard of Oz. Being manipulated by Tin Man, the Scarecrow, the toothless lion and Princess Ozma to be left for dead, she sets out with the help of the Wicked Witch Entomologist (AKA the real Dorothy) in search of the blood of Oz royalty.
* CursedWithAwesome: She is literally a woman who suffers from a curse that causes a lot of pain in her body, but also allows her to curse hunters and make them jolt in pain.
* DarkIsNotEvil: She has a dark color palette and has skins that are goth and friendly, talks to the dead and intentionally tries to appear intimidating and obnoxious, but is a kind person who wants to help her peers to become better people, even If they don't like them.
* DefrostingIceQueen: She is said to be quite friendly towards those who pass her character tests.
* ElectricBlackGuy: Patricia is a black woman, and her S-Tier accessory, Cursed Cloud, allows her to curse hunters using lightning and electricity instead of the regular curse.
* GirlsLoveChocolate: Patricia loves Brownies and other coconut-based products, just remember not to steal her brownies.
* GoodIsNotNice: Patricia is a force for good, who is well-intentioned but tends to act rude and judgmental towards those around her, especially those who were rude to her first.
* HappilyAdopted: Was raised by a local woman of New Orleans, who was said to have selflessly loved her adopted daughter. Even when the spirit of her birth mother seemingly rejected her, Patricia chose not to feel too bad about it, mainly because she already had a loving foster mother.
* HeroicBastard: The product of an American man impregnating a Haitan woman who, even after finding out the truths about her origins, didn't choose to take her suffering out on the world, on the contrary, choosing to help people cursed by their pasts.
* HollywoodVoodoo: ZigZaggingTrope. Lore wise, the way her practice of voodooism is relatively realistic, although it is described by outsiders as being "pagan magic", even though there is plenty of evidence that she is Catholic, but it's played straight with the gameplay where she basically puts on a light show while hurting the hunter.
* KnightInSourArmor: Sour, bad-tempered and antisocial, but only because of her trauma with rejection. The real Patricia is very kind and wants to help people heal, even if she herself has difficulty healing.
* LightFeminineAndDarkFeminine: The dark feminine to the light feminine of [[spoiler: Vera]], her teammate. Patricia wears dark clothes, acts a little disturbingly, while [[spoiler: Vera is an elegant fashionista, who normally wears light clothes]]. Patricia is DarkIsNotEvil while [[spoiler: Vera]] is a reluctant LightIsNotGood.
* MisunderstoodLonerWithAHeartOfGold: She is lonely, has trust issues, and can act judgmental, but she means well and knows when to be kind.
* NoHistoricalFiguresWereHarmed: Based on Marie Laveau, a renowned Louisianan voodoo practitioner.
* OlderThanTheyLook: Has spent the last ten years of her life is plagued by a curse and is confirmed to be 35 by the [[AllThereInTheManual Oletus Manor Investigation Report.]] Despite this, she could arguably pass for a woman in her mid-to-late twenties.
* PajamaCladHero: His skin from the "Man in Dream" series, based on the Peter Pan tale, wears adorable pajamas and can stun hunters with the same ease.
* ReligiousBruiser: Patricia is implied to be Catholic (Popular Catholicism) and is a Mambo (a female priest) and is a badass survivor with the ability to hurt the hunter.
* ScaryBlackWoman: She was made to project this image, appearing intimidating, judgmental and being a PerpetualFrowner on the gameplay, but it's closer to a well-intentioned CreepyGood than anything.
* SweetTooth: She loves Brownies, and does happy dances after eating one in the pre-game lobby. Her skin “Tabloid” takes it to another level, being willing to electrocute William after he steals one of her brownies.
* ThrowTheDogABone: In her fourth letter she curses [[spoiler: José, Edgar and Vera]] who had been hostile towards her, while also blessing [[spoiler: Kevin]] so that he can return from his [[HeroicSacrifice apparent death]].
* WellIntentionedExtremist: Curses people in an attempt to help them heal from their past traumas, when it doesn't work they may die, as [[spoiler: Edgar]] can tell, but if it works Patricia starts to extend her kindness to that person.
* WhenSheSmiles: Patricia is PerpetualFrowner, but she has a beautiful smile and is quite cute when off the “battlefield”.
* YouAreNumberSix: She is referred to by her [[spoiler: given serial number, 5-?-5 (later 5-0-5)]] in her [[spoiler: Experiment File]] and corresponding [[spoiler: Experiment Files]] on survivors that participated in the same game as her.

After experiencing betrayals and struggles Murro decided to give up trying to fit into the so-called civilized society. Perhaps the Oletus Manor would be his ultimate destination?

[[spoiler: Inclination: ''A "hero" seeking self-worth in tragedy.'']]

-> '''Stage Cast:''' Claus
----
* AmbiguouslyEvil: Was willing to do anything to escape from his uncle’s circus. Said circus just so happened to be Hullaballoo Circus, the site of an allegedly horrific massacre...
** If you believe that his 2021 Character Day letter is addressed to Mike, however, Murro likely escaped from the circus a few days prior to the Moon River Tragedy, making it unlikely that he was responsible for the massacre.
** Future information, likewise, would reveal him to instead be one of the more innocent and, at times, outright ''heroic'' of the Survivors.
* AnimalCompanion: His boar.
* CircusBrat: He has been in a circus from a young age, kept isolated from the rest of the world by the circus' ringmaster Bernard until he convincingly resembled a feral child.
* FeralChild: Murro’s uncle claimed that he grew up in the woods. Murro was actually raised in complete isolation for the first ten years of his, with his only toy dog and his uncle for company.
* FullBoarAction: Rides some kind of boar.
* HopelessWithTech: Downplayed. He can still decode ciphers, but his decoding speed has been decreased by 40%.
* LoyalAnimalCompanion: His boar, who he worked with in his act, and who accompanied him to the manor.
* NiceMeanAndInbetween: Along with [[spoiler:Violetta,]] he serves as the nice to [[spoiler:Margaretha and Mike's]] in-between and [[spoiler:Joker's]] mean during [[spoiler:the preparation stages of Game 8.]]
* NoCelebritiesWereHarmed: Frequently compares himself to Kaspar Hauser, a man who claimed he had spent the early years of his life being raised in an environment, completely cut off from human contact (this may have been a lie made by a swindler, however). It’s not hard to see where the comparison originates.
* OnlyOneName: Up till his third Character Day only his first name was known. His [[spoiler: Experiment File]] reveals his surname to be that of his uncle and adopted cousin: Morton.
* SignificantBirthDate: His birthday (April 30) is on the same date that his real-life inspiration, Kaspar Hauser, was born.
* SoleSurvivor: His [[spoiler: Experiment File]] reveals that he was the only one to survive the [[spoiler: circus game.]] Unfortunately, his luck ended up running out during the preparations for the winter game.
* UncertainDoom: Was (seemingly) supposed to be part of a game with Forward, Mercenary and Explorer, but mysteriously disappeared and was replaced by the Magician.
** In the Magician's Diary, Servais uncovers evidence that Murro didn't actually escape out the window like Naib claimed he had, but had apparently been kidnapped or murdered by another Survivor. There is also the question of just what was inside of the boar Naib was keeping outside the manor...
** Kurt's second letter, if one believes it to be an exaggeration of events that actually occurred, implies that he may have been [[spoiler: killed by Bane.]]
** His [[spoiler: Experiment File]] reveals that he was [[spoiler: "eliminated"]] before the game officially began.
** Naib's [[spoiler: Experiment File]] finally sets the record straight by revealing that Murro was [[spoiler: killed by the Mercenary]] shortly before Servais stepped foot in the manor.
* YouAreNumberSix: He is referred to by his [[spoiler: given serial number, 8-?-5]] in his [[spoiler: Experiment File]] and corresponding [[spoiler: Experiment Files]] on survivors and hunters that participated in [[spoiler: Steps 8 and 9 of the experiment.]]

[[spoiler: Inclination: ''Lost "family" and inability to return to "Hullabaloo."'']]

-> '''Stage Cast:''' Seto Keita
-> '''Voiced by:''' Zhai Wei (Chinese)
----
* AlliterativeName: '''M'''ike '''M'''orton
* AmbiguouslyEvil: One of three candidates for the [[spoiler: test subject]] responsible for hurting Violetta during her time in the manor. His [[spoiler: Experiment File]] would eventually reveal that he wasn't the responsible party.
* AmbiguouslyGay: In his first deduction, Mike states that Bernard is his ideal father figure. However, his fifth deduction, "Darling" has a description that reads, "How people call each other often reflects the degree to which the relationship has developed". In the same deduction, he also talks about wanting to "put [his] cold hands down [Bernard's] collar".
* AmbiguousSituation:
** [[spoiler: Murro's 2020 Character Day letter revealed that Mike was in contact with Arthur Russel (a man who had previously appeared to have been studying the phenomena of Lakeside Village), through which he had seemingly hired either a hitman or detective to do... something to an unspecified target, seemingly in return for the brain of another unspecified person. The circus was shortly afterward burned to the ground, killing the intended target and seemingly destroying any trace of the aforementioned brain, leading to Mike calling off their arrangement. It is unclear how this incident connects to Murro.]]
** His 2020 Character Day letter. Does it take place before or after the Moon River Tragedy? And just how did he come to know of the Female Dancer's alias?
* BestServedCold: Is said to be hunting down the person responsible for the Moon River Tragedy. Given that Mike appears to believe Margaretha to have been responsible (or at least played a role in the tragedy), his 2020 Character Day letter (in which he requests Arthur Russel uncover information about Margaretha's past before joining the circus) potentially raises the possibility that he won't be satisfied with merely killing her...
%%* CartoonJuggling
%%* CheshireCatGrin
* CircusBrat: His deductions imply that he joined the circus as a kid.
* EvenEvilHasLovedOnes: Evil may be a bit too harsh, but he nevertheless cared deeply about the other members of the circus, and has made it his goal to find the person responsible for the Moon River Tragedy and make them pay for their crime.
* NiceMeanAndInbetween: Along with [[spoiler:Margaretha,]] he serves as the in-between to [[spoiler:Joker's]] mean and [[spoiler:Murro and Violetta's]] nice during [[spoiler:the preparation stages of Game 8.]]
* TheNicknamer: In the stage play -- Fiona is "Fi-chan" and Eli is "[=EliCla=]" -- which he remembers into the mirror world even though everyone has lost their memories.
* ObfuscatingStupidity: Downplayed, but he does come off as a bit of a goofball in gameplay and his deductions. Both his and Murro's 2020 Character Day letters, however, reveal that he is actually quite eloquent and professional when dealing with personal matters.

A sunny girl who can make a miracle-like Dovlin, who has come to the Manor in search of her missing brother.

[[spoiler: Inclination: ''The false "correct answer".'']]

->'''Voiced by:''' Anqi Zhang (Chinese)
----
* TheAlcoholic: Partially justified, since her alcohol can heal her or give her other buffs.
* AmbiguouslyEvil: Both her and Jose's second letters raise the possibility that she may have been working for the manor owner. [[spoiler: Her Experiment File casts doubt on this possibility, whilst also casting further suspicion on her brother, Sam.]]
* AmbiguousSituation:
** Her second letter is a message left on the back of an old ferry ticket. Said ferry ticket was for a trip from Southampton to New York, which was historically the same route that ''[[UsefulNotes/RMSTitanic the Titanic]]'' took in its fatal journey in 1912, something made even more complicated by Wu Chang's fourth letter including reference to a man named Chang Chip, who shares a name with a real-life Titanic survivor. It is, as of now, unclear if this is merely a coincidence or a hint to the time period in which Demi's game took place.
** Lily Barriere's deductions, likewise, make it unclear just what role Demi plays in her first two letters. Is Demi the "D" who both letters are addressed to? Is she the author of both letters? Or is she, perhaps, the "traitor" responsible for stealing [[spoiler: one of the samples produced from unidentified objects brought back from the Mediterranean Sea, potentially used to produce the drugs used on the Survivors in Oletus Manor?]]
* BoozeBasedBuff: Dovlin increases the Movement Speed of whoever drinks it by 50% as well as heals them and gives them the Tipsy status which reduces their fear. However, there is a tradeoff as the drinker's max decoding speed will be decreased by 8%.
* ConnectedAllAlong: Originally thought to possess no real connection to any of the other Survivors or the Hunters, Jose's 2021 Character Day letter reveals that either she or, more likely, her brother previously did business with Jose's family. Furthermore, the fact that the handwriting in the invitation containing the codeword that Jose received resembled that of whoever had signed off the ledgers of goods that were given to Jose's father implies that one of the Bourbon siblings was involved in the First Officer's game.
* DelicateAndSickly: Was said to be weak and ill for the majority of her childhood, to the point that many were certain she would die young. Miraculously, she had apparently returned to full health by the time she was an adult.
* FanserviceWithASmile: Downplayed, but she is definitely one of the [[MsFanservice more attractive survivors]], and her default outfit doesn’t do anything to distract from this.
* HealingPotion: The drinks she mixes can heal Survivors during matches.
* HealItWithBooze: Can heal herself and other survivors with alcohol.
* IWillFindYou: Came to Oletus Manor in search of her brother.
* ImmuneToDrugs: Is said to have a high drug resistance, a trait that she apparently inherited from her mother.
* MeaningfulName: Her last name, Bourbon is a type of alcoholic drink.
* SavvyGuyEnergeticGirl: [[spoiler: Luchino's]] 2021 Character Day letter implies that, during her time at the Manor, she was the Energetic Girl to the former's Savvy Guy.
* SignificantBirthDate: Her birthday is on Valentine's Day (February 14th) which also happens to be regarded as the feast day of Saint Tryphon (patron saint of winegrowers and protector of vineyards) by many Orthodox Christians.
* OnlySaneWoman: Forced. Due to her supernatural resistance to drugs, [[spoiler: Demi is the only member of her team to be unaffected by the manor's hallucinogenic drugs. Therefore being the only one capable of seeing above the manor's illusions regarding truth and lies, and making her closest to winning the game. Unfortunately, she still fails]].
* TomboyAndGirlyGirl: A curious example, as canonically Demi doesn't seem to be either, but her skins usually portray her as {{Tomboy}}, for other girls GirlyGirl. She is the only girl who never wears regular skirts in any of her skins, which in the era she lived in was a sign of gender nonconformity.
* YoungerThanTheyLook" Given her [[TheAlcoholic "hobby"]] one would likely assume that she is one of the older survivors. Thus, it may come as a surprise to find out that she is only ''22 years old,'' and thus only two years above the legal drinking age.
* YouAreNumberSix: She is referred to by her [[spoiler: given serial number, 6-?-3]] in her [[spoiler: Experiment File.]] Curiously, [[spoiler: her Experiment File notes that the second digit of her serial number (which appears to be related to how the Survivors behaviour and/or mental state is impacted by the implementation of the manor's drugs into their system) was altered repeatedly before the completion of the report.]]

-> '''Stage Cast:''' Suzuki Yota
-> '''Voiced by:''' Liu Yao (Chinese), Creator/AyumuMurase (Japanese), Creator/AleksLe (English)
----
* AmbiguousSituation: His character deductions imply that his services as postman were originally used by a criminal organisation to smuggle unspecified items and that he may have witnessed the building he rescued Wick from being set on fire. It's unclear just how involved Victor was in criminal activity or what role he played in the building, where a police officer seemingly investigating him resided, being burnt to the ground. Did he witness his associates burn the building to the ground, and then rushed in an attempt to save people? Or did he burn down the building himself, only to have a crisis of conscience? His final deductions imply it was the former.
** Furthermore, was he still affiliated with the criminal organisation when he received his letter from Oletus Manor or did gaining acceptance from the public for his actions during the fire allow him to become a proper postman?
** There is also the question of how he got involved with the criminal organisation in the first place.
* AnimalCompanion: Wick the Post Dog
* BetterWithNonHumanCompany: He is said to be great at caring for animals, but finds it difficult to talk to other people.
* CurtainsMatchTheWindow: He has blonde hair and yellow eyes.
* CuteMute: Apparently mute and definitely looks endearing.
* FriendToAllLivingThings: His character notes, and the 2020 Christmas event, reveal that, on top of taking care of Wick, Victor also likes to spend his time feeding stray animals.
* HairOfGoldHeartOfGold: Even if he was the person who [[spoiler: burned down a police officer's house]], the fact that he ran back to save Wick shows that he has a heart and a conscience.
** His Character Traits from his 2019 release also describe him as warm-hearted and his Japanese Twitter replies are shown to be rather friendly.
* HeKnowsTooMuch: The mob forced Victor to keep quiet about their activities by threatening to harm Wick. It's implied that they originally wanted to go after Victor himself but decided against it as it would raise too many questions, especially after the policeman's death.
* HeroicFireRescue: Rescues Wick from a burning building after someone from the mob sets it on fire.
* KilledOffForReal: [[spoiler: His experiment file reveals that he perished in a fire that broke out sometime during Game 3]].
* LoyalAnimalCompanion: His dog, Wick, who he rescued from a fire.
* MailmanVsDog: Averted. Wick is nothing but friendly towards Victor and would often accept letters from him in his previous owner's place.
* PerpetualSmiler: All of his character models show him smiling.
* PreciousPuppy: Wick the Post Dog. The game even states that the reason why Wick pounces on the Hunter is that he wants to make new friends.
* SignificantBirthDate: His birthday is on Christmas (December 25th). He delivers packages and letters like how Santa delivers presents.
* TalkingWithSigns: In the stage play, he uses a notebook to communicate with others.

* DaddysGirl: It is very clear in her deductions that her father loved her very much and was nothing but proud of her.
* MeaningfulName: Her name means "bright, shining light" in Greek. Though this may seem ironic, considering her disability, it is actually appropriate when one acknowledges her skill and determination.

* AmbiguouslyEvil: A priestess with an interest in the occult, who was studying a village home to what was basically a religious cult, whose residents mysteriously vanished, and who claims to have been guided to the manor by a spirit. That being said, nothing present in her deductions implies that she's a bad person.
** Her 2021 Character Day letter implies that she may be far more aware of what is actually of what is truly going on at Oletus Manor than the other survivors. That said, it is still unclear just what it is she is up to.
* DreamingOfThingsToCome: Implied to have seen a vision of the apocalypse in her deductions.
* {{Expy}}: Shares the surname "Gilman" with the protagonist of ''Literature/TheDreamsInTheWitchHouse'' who shares her desire to [[MagicVersusScience combine the ideas of science with the supernatural]] and comes into contact with a supernatural creature connected to HumanSacrifice (something Fiona may also have gone through, following TheReveal that she was interested in the traditions of Lakeside Village). In the story, the protagonist learns a formula that allows him to make wormholes which Fiona's portals are similar to.
** Alternatively, she could also be an expy of the protagonist of Literature/TheShadowOverInnsmouth as both of them are interested in studying villages with possible ties with the supernatural located near bodies of water. It should also be noted that during his visit to Innsmouth, the protagonist stayed at the Gilman hotel.
* FieryRedhead: Subverted. While she does have red hair, she is one of the calmer Survivors.
* HairColorDissonance: In her deductions, it is stated that she has red hair. In her official artwork, it appears as more of a hot pink color.
* InTheHood: In most of her skins.
* LadyAndAScholar: She is interested in studying geography and the occult and holds manners in high regard.
* MagicVersusScience: When Fiona was young, her parents separated as a result of differences in their belief systems and each of them believed they should teach their daughter. Fiona's father was interested in occultism and superstitions, while her mother viewed religion in a negative light and chose to view the world through facts and theories. Fiona decided to TakeAThirdOption and come to her own conclusions about the world worked.
* MsFanservice: A lot of her skins (including her [[CleavageWindow default one]]) are fairly revealing.
* OccultDetective: The fact that all of Arthur Russel's letters that are focused on Lakeside Village are addressed to her seems to imply that Fiona desires to learn more about the apparent supernatural phenomena surrounding the village.
* SignificantReferenceDate: In a rare case where it's a reference to a fictional character, she shares the same birthday (February 2nd) as Wilbur Whateley, Yog-Sothoth's son from ''Literature/TheDunwichHorror''.
* SpiritedYoungLady: Studying the occult isn't what one would typically view as traditionally feminine and as shown in one of her Deduction Star lines, Fiona can be quite vocal about the people she dislikes. That being said, she is still very polite and well-mannered.

* MyGodWhatHaveIDone: She mistakenly believed that her sister was taking advantage of her by stealing and taking credit for her perfume designs. She later discovered that her sister had been trying to help her. Unfortunately, she only discovered this after she had murdered her sister and stolen her identity. Her reasons for coming to the Manor are so she can find a way to erase her bad memories and bury the grief and sorrow that now plagues her mind.
* OlderThanTheyLook: The [[AllThereInTheManual Oletus Manor Investigation Report]] reveals that she is 30.
* YouAreNumberSix: She is referred to by her [[spoiler: given serial number, 5-0-2]] in her [[spoiler: Experiment File]] and corresponding [[spoiler: Experiment Files]] on survivors that participated in the same game as her.

!!Kevin Ayuso - The Cowboy
[[quoteright:280:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/cowboy_transparent.png]]

A cowboy from the North America who befriended a young girl from a native American tribe when he was younger and learned how to use the lasso. Many years later, he was saved by the native Americans when he suffered misfortune and the passionate Kevin Alonso remained with the tribe. But good things never last and the tribe died out. He didn't want to stay, so he decided to roam the European continent.

[[spoiler: Inclination: ''A coward boasting freedom while being trapped by guilt.'']]

-> '''Voiced by: ''' Li Yuantao (Chinese, formerly)
----
* AccompliceByInaction: Being unwilling to avenge his friend's death by exacting vengeance on his parents, or protect the tribe that took him in from the other settlers, is heavily implied to be the reason why he does not believe he can be considered a good man.
* AmnesiacResonance: His fourth letter contains subtle hints that [[spoiler: the "poison" he drank was in fact one of the manor's memory-erasing drugs. In his recollection of his final night in the manor - seemingly two weeks after drinking the alleged "poison" - he takes time to note that he has the feeling that he'd lost something he once held tight, but couldn't quite put his finger on just what it was.]]
* DoesNotLikeMen: Decodes slower with male teammates, and will not block damage for them.
* DulcineaEffect: Heavily implied to be the result of his failure to protect his childhood friend.
* FacialMarkings: Has on face paint, most likely in memory of the tribe that took him in.
* InstantKnots: Can tie his lasso perfectly around a teammate from pretty far away.
* MyGreatestFailure: His failure to protect his childhood friend and the tribe that took him in, whose deaths his parents and/or fellow cowboys are implied to be responsible for.
* OlderThanTheyLook: Confirmed to be 30 by the [[AllThereInTheManual Oletus Manor Investigation Report.]]
* TragicKeepsake: His Cactus Doll accessory.
* UncertainDoom: His 2020 Character Day letter reveals that, during his time at the manor, he may have chosen to [[spoiler: drink poison, in order to protect a fellow Survivor (implied to be Patricia).]] [[spoiler: His fourth letter would go on to reveal that he actually survived the incident, but was seemingly left incapacitated for about two weeks to such an extent that he was unable to join the "game" segment of the experiment, and claimed to experience headaches that he had been unable to shake off prior to his conversation with the manor's owner on his (alleged) final night in the manor.]]

Margaretha is a gorgeous dancer and is used to the good life. After an accident, however, she lost her husband, and with him all financial security. Margaretha, not knowing how to make a living, has gained a new understanding of "freedom". How could she pass up an opportunity to become a millionaire?

[[spoiler: Inclination: ''A self-important woman teetering on the edge of fantasy'']]

-> '''Voiced by:''' Li Dongting (Chinese)
----
* AmbiguouslyEvil: Might have been responsible for the Moon River Tragedy. Mike certainly seems to believe her to be the culprit.
** She is also one of the three candidates for the [[spoiler: test subject]] responsible for hurting Violetta during her time in the manor. Her [[spoiler: Experiment File]] confirms she wasn't the one responsible.
* AmbiguousInnocence: Regarding if she is behind the the Moon River Tragedy.
* AmbiguousSituation:
** Is she Natalie the animal trainer? Did she play a key role in [[spoiler: the Moon River Tragedy?]]
*** Mike's Character Day letter reveals that she is indeed Natalie.
** Her uncle is implied to have an unclear connection to [[spoiler: the Geisha and her murderous father-in-law.]] What this potentially means for Margaretha is still unclear.
** Mike's 2020 Character Day letter reveals that Mike was aware of the name she went by after she left the circus. Given the uncertainty of when the letter was written, what does this imply? Was Margaretha Zelle already an alias she utilized before she fled the circus, or did Mike manage to track her down and/or discover her new name after the massacre?
* ChekhovsGunman: She was first introduced in-game in Joker's deductions, under her old alias, Natalie. She would later go on to become a playable character in the game, whose character background would further develop the backstory of Hullabaloo Circus, as well as Lakeside Village.
* DistractedByTheLuxury: Is said to have an affinity for jewelry and the good life. Sergei managed to draw in Margaretha, and encourage her to run away with him, with plastic promises of a better life in the 'Big City'. Even after separating from her husband, and becoming financially independent, Margaretha still desired to live the good life.
* EverythingsSparklyWithJewelry: As expressed in one of her Deduction Star Event lines and her "Affection" accessory.
--> '''Margaretha:''' Everyone longs for dazzling jewelry.
* {{Expy}}: Of abused trapeze artist Natalia from the Film/TheLastCircus.
* MeaningfulName: The name Margaretha is a variant of Margaret which means "pearl". She is shown to like fancy things and her birthday is in June, which has the pearl as one of its birthstones.
* LovableAlphaBitch: Not in Canon, but in many of her skins and official materials, if she's not killing someone, she'll probably be portrayed as this trope. A special mention goes to her Tier-B skin from the Ivory Tower series "Swan", who is a friendly student with above-average beauty.
* NamedAfterSomeoneFamous: Loosely based on Mata Hari, a Dutch exotic dancer accused of espionage.
* {{Nephewism}}: What little information we have on Margaretha's childhood implies that she was raised by her aunt and uncle for the majority of her life. No word is given on the status of Margaretha's parents.
* NiceMeanAndInbetween: Along with [[spoiler:Mike,]] she serves as the in-between to [[spoiler:Joker's]] mean and [[spoiler:Murro and Violetta's]] nice during [[spoiler:the preparation stages of Game 8.]]
* RichesToRags: Though riches may be a bit of an over-exaggeration, she recently lost her husband and with him, her financial security. She came to the manor hoping to go from RagsToRiches.
** RagsToRiches: Her decision to come to the manor was fueled by her desire to become a millionaire.
* TheRunaway: '''The Circus Runaway.''' Unsatisfied with living in a fishing village, and dreaming of a better life, Margaretha went along with her lover's plan to elope and drugged her aunt and uncle during dinner so that she could run away with the circus.
* SympatheticAdulterer: If one takes the [[AmbiguousSituation voice-over accompanying the Weeping Clown's background story trailer, as well as the implications raised from it, as fact,]] she began to fall for Joker during her time at the circus and had, at the very least, an emotional affair with him. Considering what an [[DomesticAbuse absolute bastard]] Sergei turned out to be, her potential infidelity is ''incredibly'' easy to excuse.
* TragicKeepsake: The burnt "Straw Doll" accessory, may serve as a reminder of her previous life in Lakeside Village.
* YouAreNumberSix: She is referred to by her [[spoiler: given serial number, 8-1-4]] in her [[spoiler: Experiment File]] and corresponding [[spoiler: Experiment Files]] on survivors and hunters that participated in the same game as her.

----
* AnimalCompanion: His owl. It is implied in his Character Day letter that her name is Brooke Rose.
* BlindfoldedVision: Wears a blindfold in all of his skins, but due to his lack of sight is unaffected
* BitchInSheepsClothing:[[spoiler: The author of his 2021 Character Day letter seems to think of him this way. It's hard to say if their assessment is accurate, though.]]
* BlueIsHeroic: Wears navy blue in his default skin and is one of the kinder and less morally grey Survivors.
* CoolMask: When he isn't wearing a blindfold, he has some cool masks to cover his eyes.
* DarkIsNotEvil: Has a dark color scheme, but is arguably the nicest guy of the Survivors.
* DoItYourselfThemeTune: Eli sings the theme songs for the Survivors' side of each [[Theatre/IdentityV stage play]] episode.
* FacialMarkings: A large scar under his eyes in the shape of an M.
* {{Familiar}}: His owl, Brooke Rose, allows him to see through her eyes.
* FriendToAllLivingThings: Especially birds.
* GlorySeeker: [[spoiler: According to the test indicators in his 2021 Character Day letter, he desires "fame and fortune." It's hard to tell if this truly is an accurate assessment of his character, though.]]
* InTheHood: Wears clothes with hoods or cloaks in most of his skins.
* LoveMakesYouDumb: It's implied that his fear of losing Gertrude led to him telling her about a vision he had seen, breaking the oath he had made in the process.
* NiceGuy: Background material portrays him as one of (if not the) most altruistic and kind-hearted survivors.
** In the stage play, he remains kind and understanding towards Aesop Carl [Embalmer] even though the latter keeps intentionally getting himself killed during matches.
* NoGoodDeedGoesUnpunished: Unfortunately, every time he sends out his owl to protect either himself or his teammates, his vaulting speed decreases. Lorewise, he lost his sight after telling his fiancée about a vision he had in order to save her father's business.
* NobleBirdOfPrey: In his "Experienced Huntsman" skin, he has a falcon instead of his owl.
* TheOathBreaker: Lost his sight and was scarred when he shared what he had seen in one of his visions with his fiancee.
* OccultBlueEyes: The magical eyes that grant him visions of the future shine in a very mystical blue.
* OminousOwl: Averted as his owl isn't portrayed as creepy and is used to protect his teammates.
* OracularUrchin: Is said to have been able to see visions since a young age.
* PetBabyWildAnimal: He and his owl met when Eli found it injured. After raising it back to health he attempted to release it back into the wild, but the owl instead chose to stay with Eli.
* {{Seers}}: Well, it’s in his title.
* SignificantBirthDate: His birthday is on [[UsefulNotes/AllHallowsEve Halloween]] (October 31st) and he used to have supernatural abilities. In addition, said holiday descended from the Celtic Festival of Samhain where it was believed that spiritual power is at its highest.
* SympathyForTheDevil: In his Character Day letter, he shows sympathy towards Brooke Rose (one of the antagonists of the story he's telling), who was transformed into an owl as punishment for betraying her husband, and uses her tale as a reason why one should not break an oath.
* UncertainDoom: [[spoiler: Certain wording present in his 2021 Character Day letter implies that he may not have survived his game. His 2022 letter makes his survival even less likely.]]
* YouAreNumberSix: He is referred to by his [[spoiler: given serial number, 6-1-1]] in his [[spoiler: Experiment File]] and corresponding [[spoiler: Experiment Files]] on survivors that participated in the same game as him.
* YoungerThanTheyLook: It may come as a surprise to many to find out that he is, potentially, the third to fourth youngest Survivor.

There are minor differences in the final destination of people's lives and Aesop Carl is most definitely the person people envision sending them on their final journey. He follows every procedural step rigorously and affords the highest respect to visitors that have come to their final destination. He decided to come to the manor in place of an unfortunate woman, whose corpse found its way to his table, carrying a mysterious letter on her person.

-> '''Stage Cast:''' Hirai Yuki
-> '''Voiced by:''' Minoru Kuroishi (Chinese), Creator/KoukiUchiyama (Japanese)
----
* AmbiguouslyEvil: His mentor is heavily implied to have been a serial killer, who was grooming him to follow in his footsteps. It is unclear if he succeeded.
** His 2021 Character Day letter confirms he did.
* CreepyMortician: An embalmer who's stated to dislike the living and favor the deceased, [[spoiler:was raised to see murder as a morally agreeable act, and outright fantasizes about killing and embalming a fellow survivor in his 2021 Character Day letter]].
* CurtainsMatchTheWindow: Both his hair and eyes are gray.
* DrivenToSuicide: His fourth letter heavily implies that [[spoiler: after "eliminating" the remaining Survivors that participated in Game 3, Aesop chose to self-immolate himself through the use of a fire that had previously broken out and claimed Victor's life.]]
* HeroKiller: {{Implied|Trope}} His [[spoiler: Experiment File]] reveals that he was responsible for "eliminating" [[spoiler: Anne Lester/The Toy Merchant and No. 3-1-4 (which the ''Relationship Between Them'' system, as well as clues in both Aesop and Victor's second letters, imply to have Ganji).]]
* HollywoodAutism: Said to have autism, which led to him being deemed unsuitable for public education.
* NoSocialSkills: Decodes slower when accompanied by other Survivors, and prefers spending time with the dead rather than the living.
* TheProtagonist: Of the stage play's first episode.
* TermsOfEndangerment: In his 2021 Character Day letter he refers to [[spoiler: Victor Grantz/The Postman]] as his "silent friend", while plotting to kill him.
* UsedToBeASweetKid: According to his 2020 birthday letter.
* WellIntentionedExtremist: His deductions suggest that Jerry taught him to help people meet their destined end and "guide lost people from darkness" by killing them. In his second Character Day letter, Aesop says that he has kept those teachings in mind as he explains that he intends to kill [[spoiler:Victor Grantz/The Postman (and perhaps the rest of their fellow players)]], talking about how he believes he understands [[spoiler:Victor]] and mentioning that such is his duty as an embalmer.
* YouAreNumberSix: He is referred to by his [[spoiler: given serial number, 3-?-1]] in his [[spoiler: Experiment File]] and corresponding [[spoiler: Experiment Files]] on survivors that participated in the same game as him.

[[folder:Norton Campbell - The Prospector]]
!!Norton Campbell - The Prospector
[[quoteright:280:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/norton_campbell.png]]

After surviving a terrible mining accident, Norton Campbell became even more reserved and gloomy. With the meteorite magnet obtained from the accident, he changed his profession and became a geological surveyor to avoid entering the darkness of the mine.

For tropes pertaining to his Hunter identity switch, see Fool's Gold.

-> '''Stage Cast:''' Suga Kyosuke
-> '''Voiced by: ''' Minoru Kuroishi (Chinese), Creator/WataruHatano (Japanese)
----
* TheAce: Once had this reputation, being seen as the ideal worker who would always be the first one to enter the mines and the last one to leave, and who would spend his spare time helping out and caring for homeless elderly miners. He became a BrokenAce after the mining incident.
* AmbiguouslyEvil: While he is selfish, and is indirectly responsible for the deaths of his fellow miners, it's possible to see him as a sympathetic character, desperate to achieve a better life, and whose amoral actions were either motivated by pragmatism (him abandoning Benny in order to search for the treasure alone) or didn't go the way he had planned (the collapse of the mine) and leave him filled with remorse. On the other hand, it is also possible to interpret Norton as a sociopath, willing to exploit anyone for his own gain, whose reserved personality is a product of him being traumatised by his near-death experience, rather than feelings of regret for the deaths he was unintentionally responsible for.
** Made even more complicated by the Fool's Gold's Character Trailer implying that [[spoiler: Norton ''intentionally'' killed his fellow miners which, even if they did have a history of mistreating him, may be seen by some as being a bit extreme]].
** [[spoiler: Then there's the matter of him, or at least a figure who resembles him, force-feeding Alice the manor's drugs while she is restrained in the cellar, which would imply him to be an accomplice of the manor owner.]]
* AmbiguousSituation:
** How much responsibility does he possess in regards to the mining accident? Was he solely responsible or, given later implications that the mine was located close to Lakeside Village, was there a supernatural force at play.
** [[spoiler: If what is shown in the Fool's Gold's Character Trailer is accurate, was Norton's decision to kill his fellow miners down in the Golden Cave motivated by him being unwilling to let anyone ruin his chance at escaping his life of poverty? Or was it an act of revenge in retaliation for the miners' poor treatment of him in the past]]?
* BitchInSheepsClothing: Debatably.
* BrokenAce: What he became following the mining accident. The reason for his behaviour is something that is said to have been debated in-universe. Some believed it was simply the result of PTSD, while others believed that magnets had disturbed his brain.
* CareerEndingInjury: Forced to stop mining after an accident killed his fellow miners and left a scar on his face.
* TheDogBitesBack: His motivation for blowing up the mine was not just to become rich, [[spoiler: but to get revenge on the miners who abused him in the past]].
* EtTuBrute: Agreed to search for treasure, and split what he found, with an elderly miner named Benny who was also once a close acquaintance of Norton's father. Instead of doing so, Norton chose to leave the man to rot and take whatever potential treasure he could find all for himself.
* FreudianExcuse: Not only was he born poor and with no hope of getting rich or having a good life, but he was also abused by his fellow miners during his journey.
* MeaningfulName: It's possible that his first name may be a reference to the Norton Mine from ''The Transition of Juan Romero,'' a short story written by Creator/HPLovecraft. Given the hints of Lovecraftian elements surrounding the Golden Cave, this is unlikely to be a coincidence.
* MyGodWhatHaveIDone: Possibly. He is noted to have become more solemn and withdrawn after the mining accident. It is unclear if this is because he was traumatised by his near-death experience or because [[spoiler: he feels guilty for causing the deaths of his fellow miners]].
* NamedAfterSomeoneFamous: It's possible that his last name might be a reference to Ramsey Campbell, an author of the Franchise/CthulhuMythos responsible for the creation of Gla'aki, a deity to who the eye present in the Golden Cave is believed to belong.
* ProductPlacement: He has a UsefulNotes/McDonalds skin. [[NotMakingThisUpDisclaimer No really.]] However, said skin is currently exclusive to the Chinese version of the game.
* {{Prospector}}: Chose to become one after the mining accident, in order to ensure that he wouldn't have to go down into the darkness of the mines ever again.
* RagsToRiches: His main goal in life which he attempts to achieve by any means necessary, [[spoiler:regardless of how immoral he has to be in order to make this happen.]]
* ScarsAreForever: Has a scar on the left side of his face due to the mining accident he was involved in.
* SecretlySelfish: His Deduction Targets imply that, despite his hard-working reputation, it’s merely a front for his greed. [[spoiler:It is further implied that, despite being well aware of the risk, he mined with dangerous explosives in an unstable cave. This would lead to him accidentally killing his fellow miners with said explosives]].
* SocialClimber: [[spoiler:What he ultimately is at heart.]]
* TooHungryToBePolite: Alice encounters him stuffing his face with bread and milk during breakfast at the end of the Episode II of ''Ashes of Memory''. When she greets him, he merely briefly glances in her direction and then continues to gorge himself.
* TragicVillain: He became a [[spoiler: murderer not only to achieve the minimum possible for a comfortable life, but also because he was abused by his co-workers. His deductions and the map of the Golden Cave leaves everything even more complicated, as there may have been [[EldritchAbomination outside influences]] involved in the situation]].
* ATrueStoryInMyUniverse: As revealed in the Orfeo's Game anniversary event, one of Orpheus's novels - ''The Thirteenth Gift'' - told the story of a miner who managed to work his way up to becoming a mining tycoon through sheer ambition and reliance on schemes, only to later meet an untimely demise. The plot's similarities with Norton's background are a bit too uncanny for it to be a coincidence.
