* {{Flanderization}}: Early seasons portray Ray as a JerkWithAHeartOfGold well-meaning, if narcissistic guy who tends to slip into ManChild tendencies. As the show went on, his ManChild side overtook his kinder side.side with him being annoyed at performing heroics he'd do without question in earlier episodes.
* FreudianExcuse: His ruder ManChild aspects are tied to his lack of a proper childhood, as his father started training him to be a superhero right after the accident that gave him his powers and he never got to so much as learn how to ride a bike or go camping. The anniversary of when he got his powers is noted to be a rather miserable time for him and those around him, who end up being targets of his frustration.

* VillainDecay: Dr. Minyak --the show's original BigBad-- suffers from this trope big time. In his first appearance, he was built up as being one of Captain Man's greatest foes, knowing his secret identity, his weakness, and nearly ending his superhero career, and his next first appearances have him place Henry in a deep sleep, and have Charlotte brainwashed and beat up her companions. However, by the time Season 3 rolls around, he starts to lose is creditability as a genuine threat, and in Season 4 the heroes stop taking him seriously altogether. Even the news reporters and civilians don't view him as a threat anymore.

** Subverted in "Double-O-Danger", where Ray tries to punch Piper in the face. Thankfully, Henry was able to stop him, as he [[EveryoneHasStandards doesn't condone physical violence to his own sister]].
