** Contrary to the belief that his Supreme Primarch form would receive a (Grand) version, it was his antagonistic "What Makes The Sky Blue" form that received the (Grand), making him the first unambiguously villanous ([[HeelFaceTurn at this stage]]) character to receive a limited version.
** Sandalphon is the first character to receive a (Grand) version that's not in his original element, as he is a Light Primarch who has an Earth element (Grand).
** His Grand version also is the first under the "Fantasy" series, which applies mainly to products of Lowain's delusions, though here it's with regard to the character existing in the past.
** Sandalphon is the first character to receive two Grands, with one being Earth and based on his past self, and one being Light, based on his "current" self, but also set a bit in the past as the fate episodes center on him before he opened his coffee shop on the Grandcypher. This could be him from a few months or years ago due to the flow of time in the Granblue Fantasy universe being unclear.

* ButNotTooGay: The reason his relationship with Lucifer has been ambiguous and debated for years is that, unlike many of the straight pairings in the setting, and despite showing how close and attached the two were to each other, and how Sandalphon talks about Lucifer, the story never explicitly states the nature of their feelings for each other or frames any of their direct interactions in a way that could be interpreted as inherently romantic, leaving the players to look to supplementary material and gauge the roundabout way Sandalphon says he loved Lucifer without actually using the words "I love/loved him". As well, despite his lingering feelings, Sandalphon bio doesn't list Lucifer as one of his "Likes", unlike many straight pairings and even a few woman/woman pairings. This is in contrast to Raziel, another of Lucifer's creations, who is also strongly implied to have feelings for him and has him in hers.

* SadisticChoice: Pulls one at the end of the first "What Makes The Sky Blue" event [[spoiler:by pushing the protagonist off of the island. The protagonist is falling too fast for the Primarchs to catch, and the only option is for Lyria and Vyrn to unleash the power of Bahamut. However, doing so means that the seal on Pandemonium could potentially break, unleashing the dangerous Origin Beasts sealed within and dooming the world. The heroes decide that the chance to save the protagonist is worth the risk, and thankfully the seal holds due to Lucifer reinforcing it.]]

* DullEyesOfUnhappiness: In his Grand unit art, his eyes lack shine to them.

* BreakoutCharacter: One of the biggest ones that the game has ever had, which is a pretty huge accomplishment considering he's a male character in a game with a predominantly male playerbase (at least in 2017). In fact, it was his popularity that made WordOfGod far more open to giving male characters more attention. While "What Makes The Sky Blue" was originally an event that was supposed to touch on Lyria's issues, with Sandalphon existing as a {{Foil}} who would not return once the event concluded, he ended up being ''so'' popular with the playerbase that Cygames turned the original event into a trilogy, with the two events that followed centering on him as the protagonist and promoting him to being playable. Sandalphon received a Summer event and Summer unit mere months after "000" ended in 2019 - these would become the set-ups for more events and sub-plotlines that would involve him. In the seven years since "What Makes The Sky Blue" first debuted, he has received four units (Event, Summer, Grand, and Valentine's) and is one of the few characters to receive a 5-Star uncap the quickest (received a year after he became playable). And these are only some of his in-game accomplishments thus far!

** An instance that applies to a ScriptedBattle: In "000", Sandalphon, in his last stand against Lucilius, is supposed to be fully powered, harnessing the power of the the tetra-element Primarchs and Lucifer's power, giving him 12-wings. It's been established that with 12 wings, he's the strongest primal in existence. He was able to take down [[WorldsStrongestMan Lucilius]] with these powers (and the help of the Captain and Lyria, even though they are notably weaker against him compared to Sandalphon). Come a scripted battle featuring Lucifer in "Created by the Stars, Loved by the Skies", and Sandalphon's own power with 12 wings doesn't come close to how absurdly powerful Lucifer's depicted as being, as his health is ''666000'' (Sandalphon's max health was 32k depending on the chapter) and his charge attack alone is able to do close to ''60 million'' in damage to Bahamut (while Sandalphon's capped at around 10 million). It's unknown if this was an intentional inconsistency.

* ICantBelieveAGuyLikeYouWouldNoticeMe: It’s shown in his flashbacks that he had this viewpoint toward Lucifer, who would make it a daily ritual to visit Sandalphon in the garden so that they could have coffee together. [[spoiler: When Lucifer muses aloud on why he’s compelled to naturally visit Sandalphon in that place, Sandalphon asks if Lucifer hates spending time with him. Though Lucifer denies that, it only adds to Sandalphon’s building insecurities.]]

* IconicItem: His purple and gold coffee cups. Initially shown in his [[http://game-a1.granbluefantasy.jp/assets_en/img/sp/quest/scene/character/body/3040153000_whiteday.png White Day CG]], they’re now heavily associated with his character [[spoiler:and Lucifer, by extension, due to it being revealed through the “Ain Soph Aur” MV and various Lucifer and Sandalphon merchandise that came later that those are the cups he and Lucifer used when they had coffee together in the Garden, adding sentimental value to them.]]

* OnlyFriend: Prior to his confinement in Pandemonium, Sandalphon spent the majority of his time in the facilities garden, where he only had brief encounters with Belial (much to Lucifer's displeasure) and one brief interaction with Sariel, who wandered into the garden to observe some ants. Access to the garden was restricted to Lucifer unless granted permission, which meant that even the other Primarchs had little interaction with Sandalphon and were only vaguely aware of his existence as Lucifer's roleless subordinate. He didn't seem to mind only being able to interact with Lucifer, however, as he grew attached to him over time and was more upset about his perceived uselessness to him.

* OnlyFriend: Lucifer was implied to be this to him until he joined the crew. [[spoiler:It’s also implied by Lucifer’s memories that this was mutual.]]

** Sandalphon's Valentine's unit has uncap art in which he is sitting at a cafe table with a couple of bouquets of white roses. Since white roses represent hope and new beginnings, this could be read as a subtle suggestion that Sandalphon has reached a point where he is ready to attempt a love or romance again. White roses also represent purity and innocence, and might signal that the love of the bearer will be a pure and innocent love, both loyal and trustworthy.
*** It's also worth noting that the bouquet on the table has 13 roses in it. While 13 roses ''can'' mean "forever friends", it can also indicate that one has a secret admirer waiting to be discovered... [[spoiler:that would at least make [[https://gbf.wiki/images/7/7e/Npc_zoom_3040447000_02.png the bedroom eyes]] make more sense.]]

* StraightGay: Potentially PlayedWith. While he has obvious romantic feelings for Lucifer, a male primal, and wears CombatStilettos with all of his outfits, he doesn't actually conform to many gay stereotypes [[note]]Whose stereotypes? The US's, or Japan's?[[/note]]. That said, when compared to Lucifer, he seems to be the more effeminate of the two. He's also shown to be the more emotional of the two, though this probably has more to do with the fact that he has a human-like heart (and therefore a more human-like expression of emotion) than it does with him being stereotypically "gay".
** It's worth noting that the Side Story "Primal Resonance" mentions that Primals don’t perceive things in quite the same way humans do, which means that they may simply not factor gender into their presentation or attractions the way many humans do.

*** As of the game's 10th anniversary, the other Primarchs with playable units include Halluel & Malluel (Summer), Gabriel, Michael, and Uriel (all Grand). Raphael still has yet to receive one.

* PurposelyOverpowered: His (Grand) version, which depicts the version of him from back when he was a villain in "What Makes The Sky Blue". Among his many abilities are the ability to change the enemy's element, steal elements, and then use said elements as sub-attacks (which can't be dispelled). This is because lore-wise, with all the wings of the tetra-elements, he's said to have power that surpasses even the gods.

* SingleTargetSexuality: Has openly declared that Lucifer is the only one he cares about, or his “one and only” in the original Japanese text. He has not seemed to show any romantic interest in anyone else as of yet, though his Valentine's unit [[FlowerMotifs subtly suggests]] that this may change in the coming years. WordOfGod does confirm that Sandalphon's relationship with Lucifer was/is symbolic of the various types of love he wanted to write about, including romantic love.
