* AllForNothing: As revealed with Shadam, Kaku might have lost his mind if he became emperor.

* MentorOccupationalHazard: Downplayed. As he dies near the series finale, his death is not the Dairangers' motivation to fight the bad guys.

* FaceDeathWithDignity: All attempts to save Kujaku prove to be for nothing, and she accepts the end with grace.
* TookALevelInCynic: being trapped inside Mirror Make-Up Artist has made her lost all compassion and sympathy she held to. Part of her CharacterDevelopment is shedding this mindset.

* ShaggyDogStory: Kujaku made it her goal to use the Holy Peacock Teardrop to heal Gara's scar and suceeds prior to her death, only for "Gara" to be a relica of the real one who died ages ago. Subverted in Kujaku reuniting with the real Gara in paradise where they rekindle their friendship and briefly return to Earth to dispatch the fake Gara.

* WhatHappenedToTheMouse: In ''Gokaiger'', the threat posed by the Zangyack invasion was so great that even fallen Sentai Heroes and allies were temporarily revived to help fight them off. But Kujaku was totally absent, as was her respective Ranger Key.

* ActuallyADoombot: The real Gorma XV died 6 millenia ago, the one seen in the present revealed to be a mud doll construct Shadam secretly created in a complicated scheme to become emperor himself.

* PsychopathicManChild: He generally acts like a child in an adult body during all of his appearances, but his subordinates take him really seriously when addressing him, as he tends to be able to really hurt you when disappointing him.
* RoyalsWhoActuallyDoSomething: He brings Akomaru back from the dead.

** Then Gorma XV demands Shadam to stand down when he demands the Earth Ground Shaking Jewel from him, forcing Shadam to cancel the spell that brought the replica to life.

* AbusiveParents: To his son Akomaru, whom he frequently mistreats and abandoned to be raised by General Tenpou. At one point, he made pinched Akomaru into a chair and later made him bleed by knocking him to the floor. Akomaru bleeds.
* AllForNothing: [[spoiler: Plots the entire series to become the Gorma Emperor and gain the Earth Ground Shaking Jewel. Shortly after he achieves this, his battle with the Dairangers attracts Daijinryu, and Jewel itself flees to appease him. To top it all off, when attempting to escape the destruction of the Gorma palace, Shadam is mortally wounded with a knife by Ryo and revealed to be another clay doll like his minions.]]

* OneWingedAngel: He initially assumes a metal-skinned form and then a red-armored form while facing Kaku in a duel. Then, Shadam becomes the 16th Gorma Emperor after murdering Gorma XV and taking his power.

* WithGreatPowerComesGreatInsanity: After taking the Earth Ground Shaking Jewel for himself and becoming Emperor, he becomes a great deal more unstable.

Once Kujaku's childhood friend that got a scar in exchange for saving her life from many years ago. Thinking that Kujaku had betrayed her, she joined Gorma and trapped Kujaku in a Mirror Make-up Artist. But the Gara that the Dairangers faced is a relica of the original, who died long ago and resided in heaven.

* DeadAllAlong: The real Gara actually died before the start of the series, the one seen during the majority of the show is an animated clay construct.
* EvenEvilHasStandards: Gara is horrified when Zydos dies, especially since Shadam isn't phased.
* FaceDeathWithDignity: Unlike the [[AintTooProudToBeg other main villains]], as the woman she was modeled after destroyed her, Gara died staying as upright as she could while proclaiming her eternal hatred for Kujaku and allegiance to the Gorma.
* {{Forgiveness}}: While it's true that the real Gara died many years ago and the current one is a copy, the fact that she didn't try to communicate with Kujaku still makes this trope play out.

* WhatMeasureIsANonHuman: Kujaku and the ''real'' Gara have no qualms about the latter wiping her out. Daigo and Rin, on the other hand, seem sympathetic toward her in the end.

* NotInThisForYourRevolution: Zydos looks forward to use Jin as a powerful subordinate to defeat the Dairangers with, and offers to empower him in hopes to sway Jin to his side. Jin takes the power boost from Zydos, but then kicks him off, making it clear that he won't serve him, claiming he obeys no one, and leaves. Though this doesn't prevent Zydos from using him anyway.

* ContrastingSequelMainCharacter: Both the Dairangers and the [[Series/HikariSentaiMaskman Maskmen]] are a Sentai team of martial artists and users of aura-based powers. However, the Maskmen formed in modern times who uses various types of martial arts and a hybrid between mystic & technology in their arsenals, wheareas the Dairangers are a LegacyCharacter who took the mantle from their predecessors from ancient times who uses Chinese martial arts and has pure mystical powers in their arsenals.
