* BlackAndWhiteMorality: {{Downplayed}}. Her views on alcohol can be summed as this: those who don't drink it or contribute to its production are good, while alcoholics, bartenders, wineries/brewers, and even bards who entertain drunkards are bad. Granted, she is shown to [[BigotryException make exceptions for the latter]], such as [[DaddysGirl still caring about her oft-smashed father]], getting along well with her employer Margaret, having a relatively high opinion of Lisa, and being stated to bond with Eula.

** To Chongyun. Both are youthful Cryo Vision holders who excel at their respective occupations thanks to a unique gift they possess, but which both of them take grievance with. In Chongyun's case, however, he's a Claymore-using exorcist who's aware of his overabundance of Yang energy and bothered by it because he believes if he continues to rely on it as a crutch, he'll be unprepared for when he runs into a truly powerful evil spirit. As for Diona, she is a bow-using bartender who was blessed by a fairy to always make delicious drinks, something she writes off as a dream to this day, and can't stand it because it counteracts her goals to destroy Monstadt's wine industry. Paimom even lampshades that the two are rather similar in the "Waterborne Poetry" event. The main difference is that, unlike Diona, Chongyun knows he has this blessing, while Diona doesn't know why she keeps making delicious drinks no matter how gross she does them.

* ObfuscatingStupidity: Venti looks like an irresponsible, lazy, harmless drunkard at ''face value'', but closer inspection of the lore reveals that Venti is hiding many secrets, and his lackadaisical attitude is a way to pass under the radar and not draw any suspicion upon himself for reasons only he knows. It goes to the point that the game itself barely focuses on his role as Barbatos anymore.

* WillfullyWeak: He could have been a lot more powerful were he more active in ruling Mondstadt[[note]]Archons gain power if they are proactive in ruling their territory[[/note]], but he prefers to play the role of a bard. This haunts him when he got ambushed by Signora and was too weakened to escape the trap, causing him to lose his [[AmplifierArtifact Gnosis]], which holds most of his authority as one of the Seven Archons.
** Additionally, despite having being absent for centuries at a time and remaining incognito in the present, the people of Mondstadt still worship him as Barbatos regularly, which confuses other nations as to how they can have such faith in him. Compared to Kusanali, who had been consciously neglected and had worship of her actively suppressed prior to Chapter III Act V but could still [[spoiler:trap the Shouki no Kami in 168 dream cycles without his notice]], his claim of being the weakest archon might be dubious upon closer examination.
** Furthermore, the Hexenzirkel, whose members include TheArchmage [[PersonOfMassDestruction Alice]] and [[MakerOfMonsters Rhinedottir]], once challenged him until he befriended them. One might wonder why they felt the need to band together when each of them are/were extremely powerful witches in their own right.

* TakingUpTheMantle: Venti not only took the Nameless Bard's face, but also his profession and philosophy of seeking and living by freedom to heart. After all, it was the Bard's LastRequest.

Added DiffLines:

* AChildShallLeadThem: Venti describes him as "a boy, not that old", and his appereance when he died implies he might not have been older than an older teenager. At that age he was already rallying people and leading a revolt against a god.
* InspirationalMartyr: During his life he dreamt of freedom and fought to achieve it, but died just before being able to see the clear blue sky and flying birds he always wanted. Venti would then live by his philosophy and turn it into the cornerstone of the entire nation of Mondstadt. In a way, Mondstadt wouldn't be the same without him.

* DueToTheDead: His [[AFormYouAreComfortableWith current form]] is based on the likeness of a young bard he befriended thousands of years ago, which he partly adopts in his honor after he died during their rebellion against Decarabian. It's a brilliant move on his part: not only Venti gets to remember his friend every time he looks in a mirror, but the bard's face is immortalised and associated with their patron archon by Mondstadt's every citizen, as seen by the massive statue at the centre of their main city.

* TeruTeruBozu: His true form as a Wind Wisp shares many similarities with them: a tiny, mostly white creature with a biground head, a cape like body, and apparently no arms. Teru-Teru-Bozu are hanged in order to prevent rain, and Venti's origins revolve around the dethroning of the former god of ''storms''. Even the NurseryRhyme mentions drinking sweet rice wine if it brings a sunny day, and Venti specifically terraformed Mondstadt to be a safe haven for wine and cider industries due to his own love for alcohol.

** The [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E0pkwZVL_GQ Gnostic Chorus cutscene]] that plays for the Battle Pass is narrated by Venti, who tells the story of a princess that was led astray in her quest for a pearl, and the prince who took her place. Then he speaks to an unidentified "you", which could be the Traveler, telling them that it is now their "journey, of (their) tale to be told". The significance of that cutscene has yet to be elaborated upon.

* ILetYouWin: An alternative interpretation of the CutsceneIncompetence scene listed above. Despite self-proclaiming himself the "weakest of the archons", Venti is still very much one of the Seven, and a +2000 years old war veteran; he still had the power capable of cleaving mountains clean with RazorWind, but the most he did was protecting the Traveler from her ice blast, ''slowly'' break the ice encasing his legs, taunt at La Signora to her face, and not give any more resistance against her. Also, it's obvious he wasn't using his full power thanks to his braids not [[PowerGlows glowing]]. As to why would Venti let his Gnosis be taken, there's multiple reasons: a way to get rid of his last tether to Celestia without suspicion, a silent support of La Tsaritsa's plan, a way to give [[spoiler:Rosalyn]] closure for [[spoiler:his late arrival during the Cataclysm resulting in the death of her lover]]; the truth only Venti would know.

* StarvingArtist: PlayedForLaughs. Venti suffers from PerpetualPoverty, though unlike Zhongli, a fellow disguised Archon who suffers from similar problems, he rarely seems to mind. It does, however, prevent him from feeding his alcohol habit, leading to such antics as crashing Jean's surprise party despite not having contributed to it, and trying to raid the open bar despite not one of the people invited (the bartender humors him to see Venti's alcohol tolerance anyway).

America simply has the internationally famous Statue of Liberty when other countries also have their own symbolic statues of freedom and revolution.

* FantasyCounterpartCulture: In general, Mondstadt bears a German cultural aesthetic--most characters and locations bear German names; the City's architecture features timber framing on its houses and Gothic style for stone structures; its national bird is an eagle[[note]]The international localizations mistranslate it to "hawk," given that the Chinese character used, 鹰 (pinyin "yīng"), covers eagles, falcons, and hawks[[/note]]; the symbol of Mondstadt's Hero, traditional site of the apotheosis of Vennessa, founder of the Knights of Favonius, is a giant oak, the national tree of Germany; its reputation for poetry is an allusion to one of Germany's titles as "Das Land der Dichter und Denker" ("The Land of Thinkers and Poets"); and its reputation for espousing the values of freedom harken back to Creator/JohannWolfgangVonGoethe, one of Germany's preeminent poets and the Chinese and Japanese namesake of the Goth Grand Hotel. More specifically, its culture also evokes that of the state of [[UsefulNotes/TheSixteenLandsOfDeutschland Rheinland-Pfalz (Rhineland-Palatinate)]], the largest producer and exporter of wine in Germany. To a lesser extent, in terms of politics and history, it is also loosely based on the United States of America, with the giant statue of Barbatos bearing some similarities to the Statue of Liberty, its origins in a rebellion against an increasingly repressive authority figure, and cherishing freedom as one of its founding principles.

* AmbiguousSituation: Eagle-eyed players have noticed that the tea set on the dining table in Dawn Winery Manor is identical to the one used by the powerful Hexenzirkel witch N. The gilded patterns on her tea set also matches the carpet beneath the dining table and the shoulders of Diluc's default coat. This implies that N has been in contact with Diluc, though the nature of their relationship remains to be seen.

* SecretSecretKeeper: The lines Venti comes up with for a hymn Kaeya had him help write for the Church of Favonius's amateur choir make it clear that Venti knows Kaeya's DarkSecret. The theme for the hymn was "things we appreciate about Mondstadt", and Kaeya's verse is about an moored ship finding its way somewhere it calls home. This alludes to Kaeya's identity as a DeepCoverAgent of Khaenri'ah BecomingTheMask, although in an optimistic way. Kaeya doesn't seem to mind, but given that Kaeya had also made it clear at this point that he knows Venti's SecretIdentity, if he did he would be a hypocrite.

Even the NurseryRhyme mentions drinking sweet rice wine if it brings a sunny day, and Venti specifically terraformed Mondstatd to be a safe haven for wine and cider industries due to his own love for alcohol.

Added DiffLines:

** Additionally, despite having being absent for centuries at a time and remaining incognito in the present, the people of Mondstadt still worship him as Barbatos regularly, which confuses other nations as to how they can have such faith in him. Compared to Kusanali, who had been consciously neglected and had worship of her actively suppressed prior to Chapter III Act V but could still [[spoiler:trap the Shouki no Kami in 168 dream cycles without his notice]], his claim of being the weakest archon might be dubious upon closer examination.

An astrologer who uses water divination to discern the truth. Even if she loves to develop herself even further into astrology-related stuff, Mona constantly faces a problem with money. Though they have the option to first meet her before leaving for Inazuma, she formally appears in Fontaine's Archon Quest, meeting up (again) with the Traveler and agreeing to help them confirm the accuracy of a prophecy that was foretold would doom Fontaine.\\
