* ParentsAsPeople: Yip Tak wants the best for his son, but takes a longer view than him and worries about what Gaming's prospects will look like in years' time, when he can no longer perform his current, physically demanding occupation. Despite his love for his son, they also have a bad personality clash, both of them being stubborn and prone to arguing, and Yip Tak notes it might be for the best if they don't live under the same roof to keep from getting under each other's skin constantly.

Added DiffLines:

* DramaticIrony: She requests the aid of Zhongli after hearing him give theories about the Geo Archon that are much less complimentary than those of the other scholars. She thinks she's found someone who is willing to think negatively of Rex Lapis and [[spoiler:will back up her efforts to prove Morax betrayed and murdered Havria]], completely unaware that he ''is'' Rex Lapis and simply doesn't like people overhyping his abilities.

In terms of appearance and mannerisms, Man Chai is no different than a devoted puppy to Gaming, and the developers also [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gu1Dc_9WyAg&t=1125s mention]] taking inspiration from a colleague with a pet dog.

* TeenRebellion: Though it is ambiguous how old exactly Gaming is, with his boyish looks, apparent youth and his short stature compared to his father, it can be deduced that he is likely close in age to the other Liyue boys. His [[NonconformistDyedHair dyed red hair]] and eyebrow piercing hidden behind his bangs suggest that he had tried going all out against his father's wishes when he ran away from home after being pressured by to inherit the tea business.

* DefrostingIceQueen: When she was first introduced, Shenhe was very (pardon the pun) cold, and thought nothing of proposing murder as a solution to any and all problems. But as she grew more accustomed to human society and made friends, she began to exhibit CracksInTheIcyFacade, to the point that she now smiles happily when meeting up with acquaintances (as opposed to her being TheStoic early on), even taking a job as a waitress and delivery girl at Wanmin Restaurant in an effort to expand her horizons further.

* {{Foil}}: To Ganyu. Both are Cryo Vision holders who are raised and trained by Cloud Retainer and worry about integrating into human society, but in every other area they're opposites. In terms of work, Ganyu has an important post with the Qixing that often sees her working overtime, while Shenhe is a waitress at Wanmin Restaurant that always gets off the clock on time. Ganyu's meticulousness that see' her do well at work also tends to make her overthink things, especially when interacting with people, while Shenhe's sheltered upbringing has made her more blunt while giving her an air of confidence. Averted with her 4.4 Lantern Rite outfit, an elegant qipao-style gown which does away with the flap and exposes the line of her cleavage through the mesh covering.

* MurderIsTheBestSolution: Between not growing up in human society and her curse which amplifies her aggressive urges, she's remarkably quick to suggest violent solutions to even the most mundane problems.
