* FurryReminder: In keeping with her species, she has keen senses of smell and hearing, can be easily distracted, whimpers and growls when she's hurt or scared, and displays a very dog-like loyalty to Lilac. In ''Freedom Planet 2'', one of her [[IdleAnimation idle animations]] also has Milla crouching and pawing the ground at her feet inquisitively -- much the same way a real-life dog would dig -- and sometimes does adorable little barks as part of some of her spoken lines. She'll even [[https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/freedomplanet/images/6/6d/Milla_Belly_Rub.gif/revision/latest?cb=20191029223219 roll over on her back with her paws in the air and tail wagging]] in a "belly rubs" pose if she crouches for long enough.

** His eyebrows are reminiscent of either [[VideoGame/SonicTheHedgehog Dr. Eggman/Robotnik's]] mustache or [[VideoGame/MegaManClassic Dr. Wily's]] hair; additionally, his voice would make Eggman's [[WesternAnimation/SonicTheHedgehogSatAM Saturday morning cartoon]] appearance proud.

* DramaticIrony: He has no idea that he's working for the man that murdered the king.

* {{Hypocrite}}: Although she claims Earth Dragons to be "schemers and liars", she's not above scheming and lying to achieve her goal.[[note]]All of her allies, barring Aaa, were told false promises while under her employ. Merga promised Askal that she would be the voice of outcasts like himself, told Captain Kalaw of the Magister's "crimes", which led to him siding with her to be seen as a "real hero", and promised Corazon that no harm would come to her sister. All of these promises were inherent lies, since her true intentions were to have Bakunawa devour the moon and leave everyone on Avalice to die. In turn, only Aaa, would have gotten what he wanted, which was to go into space.[[/note]]

* BusmansVocabulary: Her speech is peppered with aviator jargon, such as using "throttle up" in place of "slow down", "fangs out" as a call for battle, and declaring the start of battle with the call to "kick the tires and light the fires", a term used to refer to the aircraft takeoff, among other things.

* LackOfEmpathy: [[spoiler:He doesn't feel any remorse at all while torturing Lilac, and admits that he wasn't even trying to get any information out of Torque; he just wanted to see how easily he broke under pressure.]]

* PrefersGoingBarefoot: She is barefoot at all times in both games. [[https://www.deviantart.com/spaceystrife/art/Milla-the-Hound-Child-Sketch-by-R-No71-311455282 The description of this character art for her]] explicitly notes she dislikes shoes, which seems to be why she prefers being barefoot.

* DistaffCounterpart: A leveled-up one to Dali. Both are high-ranking members of a water-based people whose role as antagonists comes from a misdirected desire for revenge. However, the misdirection in Dali's case came from his father's killer brainwashing him into service immediately afterward to make him go after everyone else. As for Merga, she led her own campaign and caused her own misdirection, her increasingly mind-breaking rage blinding her to the fact that [[spoiler:the beings who enslaved and eradicated her people are themselves long dead]].

* DistaffCounterpart: A leveled-up one to Dali. Both are high-ranking members of a water-based people whose role as antagonists comes from a misdirected desire for revenge. However, the misdirection in Dali's case came from his father's killer, AKA the BigBad, brainwashing him into service immediately afterward to make him go after everyone else, whereas in Merga's case, she ''is'' the BigBad and the cause of her own misdirection due to her increasingly mind-breaking rage blinding her to the fact that the beings who committed genocide on her people are themselves long dead.

* MightyGlacier: [[IncrediblyLamePun Ice puns aside]], Neera's gameplay in the sequel is more combat-oriented than the other three, meaning she has less mobility options and more attacks with longer windup times. That being said, she hits ''hard'' when her attacks connect.

* OurDragonsAreDifferent: Her Holodragon form resembles a giant non-anthropomorphic Eastern dragon, and in this form she can fire [[WaveMotionGun a massive laser]] from her dragon form's mouth, attack with claws, and summon tons of blue {{fireball}}s.

* CatSmile: Bares one in some cutscenes and while she sits on a bench in-game. Rather appropriate for a cat.

* RageBreakingPoint: Happens at end of the second act of her route. Poor Carol [[spoiler:tries her hardest to find her sister and talk her out of working with Merga, only to be knocked out by her via gas and stranded in the ocean with her worst favorite food, has to be taken out of her situation with SERPENTINE of all people, and gets back to find that Spade has run off with the Syntax drone. When Serpentine starts boasting about his plans with Bakunawa, Carol straight up tells him to shut up and hits him in the face before she yells about DONE she is with everyone just doing whatever they want without thinking about how others have to clean up their messes and how nothing has gone right for her. This quickly becomes a case of ExplainExplainOhCrap when she realizes she did the exact same thing she's upset at everyone else for when she ran off to try and save Cory on her own.]]

* BadBoss: [[Main/ZigzaggedTrope Heavily zigzagged]] as she at least let her allies and minions go with her onto Bakunawa instead of leaving them on Avalice to die. However, she gives an ImpliedDeathThreat at Corazon when she fails to retrieve Pangu and later, shows no remorse at knocking out Corazon when she tries to save Carol from Merga's attack. On the other hand though, Merga was kind enough to open the door and let Carol save Corazon instead of leaving her former ally to die.

* PutOnABus: He's left Avalice come ''VideoGame/FreedomPlanet2'', due to that being his goal to begin with, and (as per WordOfGod{{invoked}}) [[KnowWhenToFoldEm getting back to his empire instead of continuing to fight Lilac]]. [[spoiler:The impact he left on Avalice is still frequently referenced, and his likeness even appears in the game for one of Syntax's attacks in her TrueFinalBoss battle, with her summoning holograms of Brevon that perform the warlord's signature knife slash attack.]]

* NoSympathy: When arresting Lilac for the second time, even though she clearly saw that Lilac was horribly wounded from [[spoiler:Brevon's torture]] and was experiencing a panic attack, she still gives her the same cold treatment as before.
* NotSoAboveItAll: While ostensibly working with the team to stop Merga and maintaining her aloofness, moments like her taunting the enemies ("You're pathetic!") and smirking when obtaining treasure ("I'm confiscating this") shows she's having some fun after all. [[spoiler:After Merga takes over Shang Tu, Neera freaks out after Gong helps the heroes escape the palace [[UnstoppableRage and immediately attempts to rush back there to fight Merga herself]] only to be held back by the others.]]

* ImproperlyParanoid: When Team Lilac and Torque attempt to explain to Magister the threat posed by Brevon, complete with providing the evidence in form of one of his machine fragments, Neera immediately accuses them of lying, basing it on the fact that Lilac and Carol are thieves who were aligned in the past with the Red Scarves, a group responsible for the Kingdom Stone's theft on Mayor Zao's behalf. She then deduces that they are criminals and spies who were bribed by Zao to come up with a cover-up story to justify the Stone's theft, which results in the Royal Magister locking the team in prison, with Torque and his evidence put into quarantine. Not only this results in Team Lilac losing hope in gaining Shang Tu and the Magister's trust, but they end up attempting to take the matter into their own hands, culminating in Torque's capture by Brevon, and Lilac's kidnapping and horrific Cold-Blooded Torture, also by Brevon. In the sequel, she managed to weaponize it with Milla’s help, keeping a close eye on everything around her despite their behavior and who they are, as long as they aren’t Team Lilac.

* ImproperlyParanoid: Deconstructed as her biggest flaw. Lilac was indeed a thief at one point, but she made clear that part of her life was far behind her. Neera still jails her, indirectly leading to the plot getting darker.

* MixedMetaphor: In the second game he has an amusing tendency to mix up poker and chess, particularly his quote "In this game of chess, I hold ALL the cards!" and soon after, ''claiming four of a kind is a checkmate''. Milla attempts to correct him, but it doesn't work.

* WeCanRuleTogether: [[spoiler:Extends offers both to Milla and Aaa to join him in serving Brevon, though he's rebuffed in both cases.]]

* GetOut: [[spoiler:PlayedForHorror; in the Weapon's Core of Bakunawa, once she [[SinisterSurveillance spots the heroines]], she'll begin to progressively shout "GET OUT" at increasingly louder volumes if they won't leave her area of sight. Should they fail to comply for too long, and she'll instantly kill them via impaling.]]

* WimpFight: In the CreativeClosingCredits, she engages into the slap fight with Pangu, accusing her of being an "impostor".

* BadBoss: [[Main/ZigzaggedTrope Heavily zigzagged]] as she at least let her allies and minions go with her onto Bakunawa instead of leaving them on Avalice to die. However, she gives an Main/ImpliedDeathThreat at Corazon when she fails to retrieve Pangu and later, shows no remorse at knocking out Corazon when she tries to save Carol from Merga's attack. On the other hand though, Merga was kind enough to open the door and let Carol save Corazon instead of leaving her former ally to die.

* MirrorBoss: Due to being a water dragon, Merga has a very similar moveset to Lilac. This is most apparent in their first fight partway through the game, where Merga’s most frequently used attack is the same Dragon Rush that Lilac uses.

* VillainHasAPoint: [[spoiler: While it does not excuse her desire to completely destroy Avalice. Even several characters agree that Merga is right to be angry towards the mistreatment of her race in the past and it’s understandable how she has the desire to avenge their extermination.]]

* EvilCounterpart: To Carol. Despite the two being wildcat sisters, Cory only works for those who are willing to pay whereas her younger sister Carol freeloads off of herself after quitting working for the Red Scarves. However, Cory does care for Carol's safety, even if she's a DirtyCoward herself.

* TotallyRadical: She has a thing for strange, pseudo-nautical slang.

* EvilSoundsDeep: He rocks the GutturalGrowler voice, mixed with an alien-sounding reverb effect.

* BadBoss: [[Main/ZigzaggedTrope Heavily zigzagged]] as she at least let her allies and minions go with her onto Bakunawa instead of leaving them on Avalice to die. However, she gives an Main/ImpliedDeathThreat at Corazon when she fails to retrieve Pangu and later, shows no remorse at knocking out Corazon when she tries to save Carol from Merga's attack. On the other hand though, Merga was kind enough to open the door and let Carol save Corazon instead of leaving her former sympathetizer to die.

* BadBoss: [[Main/ZigzaggedTrope Heavily zigzagged]] as she at least let her sympathetizers and minions go with her onto Bakunawa instead of leaving them on Avalice to die. However, she gives an Main/ImpliedDeathThreat at Corazon when she fails to retrieve Pangu and later, shows no remorse at knocking out Corazon when she tries to save Carol from Merga's attack. On the other hand though, Merga was kind enough to open the door and let Carol save Corazon instead of leaving her former sympathetizer to die.

* FragileSpeedster: She's quick-footed and more then capable of outpacing the heroes but much like Spade before her, It doesn't take too many hits to bring her down. Notably, she's the weakest member of Merga's sympathizers HP-wise. [[note]]Askal has 14 petals of HP in his fight in Diamond Point, and while Captain Kalaw starts with 7 HP, he gains an extra 7 once he enters his second phase, giving him the same amount as Askal. Aaa's not fought outside of his mechs, but they're fairly hardy, with the Astral Golmech having 20 total petals of HP, with Aaa's portion having 8. Meanwhile, Corazon, while having 2 phases in her Clockwork Arboretum fight, only has a total of 7 petals.[[/note]]
