* DragonHoard: Of tickets, to the point that they are stuffing her witch hat. Presumably the rare items she raffles come from her hoard, as well.
* NonStandardCharacterDesign: Anyone who has tried to replicate her appearance on their own dragon will be quick to tell you that there is no Skink gene that completely matches Roundsey due to her unique stripe colors and the blue fade on her tail - though admittedly that doesn't stop people from using Pistachio Skink to compensate. Also, it'd be wise to not look at her torso for too long or else you'll notice that the space between her arms and legs is much, MUCH longer than in-game Spiral dragons.

Unlike some of the other ancients, they're diverse in their elements because the Astrolab orbits over the planet, meaning that eggs routinely hatch into different elements depending on what region it's floating over. While an arcane breed originally, they've since evolved into a mixed society with even family units comprising of different elements.

* MonstrousMandibles: One of their unique linebreaker genes gives them large, sharp mandible.

* ScrewThisImOuttaHere: Captian Xanda resigns as soon as he gets out the announcement that the ship is crashing to the surface of the planet.
* ShaggyDogStory: In ''After Orbit'', we follow three Aethers from the current generation who accidentally cause the ship to begin to plummet, alongside the original captian of the Astrolab's personal log chronicalling the destruction of all but one of it's user manuals. The three realize if they can find the last copy preserved by their clan, they can stop the crash. They find and successfuly open the box in the nick of time, only...

* TrademarkFavoriteFood: Much like moths, paper. Apparently, they ate so much books in Arcanist's library that he deliberately sent them to space to stop them from eating all of it. Their love for paper is so bad that they even ate all of the manuals required to operate the Astrolab, [[spoiler:even Captain Cosmo]].

The Flamecaller’s first creations. They were thought to be extinct after a war with the Gaolers, but their [[LastOfHisKind last clutch of eggs]] were later discovered to be preserved in the ice.

* DeathFromAbove: As wyverns, they prefer to attack from the sky and can rain down anything from fireballs to molten lava.
* FeatheredDragons: Not all of them, but the Plumage tertiary gene gives Banescales optional feathers. Perhaps fitting, since their younger siblings are the feathered Coatl breed.
* HeroicSacrifice: The parents of the last surviving Banescale eggs sacrificed themselves to preserve their eggs until it would be safe for them to hatch.
* OurWyvernsAreDifferent: They are the first ancient breed to truly break the mold in terms of body type, lacking front limbs entirely. Also they like to communicate by singing. They are also capable of sprouting feathers with the Plumage gene, and can have a total of four wings if the Gliders gene is applied to them.
* WarriorPoet: An extremely prideful example. The original Banescale society that was slain loved songs, even ones mocking their enemies like the Gaolers since they called them “unworthy and frail” in one. Unfortunately, their love for song was the only thing they could leave behind for their unborn hatchlings: singing out their hopes that they would fly free one day and not repeat their mistakes.

Gaolers dwell in the heart of ice territory, guarding the various creatures therein, and have kept to themselves until an unfortunate band of ice dragons stumbled upon them. Sensing shade corruption upon the intruders, the Gaolers realized their duty to contain this corruption requires them to emerge into the wider world once more.

* BadassGrandma: She greatly enjoys spelunking down tunnels at neck-breaking pace, much to the worry of the entire guild.

An Abyssal Maren who traveled outside of city of The Deep to help locate more fossils to help create gear for other Maren. Upon reaching the higher levels of the Leviathan Trench, she along with a more experienced scout, Nen, discover not only a rich bounty of fossils, but both dragons and other Maren. She is the Abyss Wanderer Maren that appears in the story image.

* FullNameUltimatum: When she reunites with Tsuna, her sister calls her by "Gillian" because she's annoyed that she returned late from a long and dangerous trip. Subverted because the annoyance is half-serious and Tsuna is more relieved that Gilly was safe.
* LanguageBarrier: Subverted. The two societies of Maren have lived apart for so long that the Abyssal Maren living in The Deep developed an entirely different language, although knowledge of the original wasn't entirely forgotten and can be taught. Gilly's use of the Shallow Seas Maren's language is broken but competent enough to get the point across and also comprehend what they're saying.
* OneSteveLimit: Averted. She shares her name with what's presumably an unseen Aberration dragon in ''Mistakes were Made''. In that story, that Gilly was mentioned to have reported a sighting of two outsiders to a clan of Aberrations - another species of dragon in self-imposed exile far away from their modern kin thanks to the actions of their parent deity. Despite their similar roles in reporting the arrival of outsiders into a specific area, the only reason they're not the same Gilly is because of location: the Wyrmwound is located very far inland and Maren can't stay on land for a long period of time since they cannot breathe air.
* StarfishLanguage: Subverted. While written in English, the speech that Gilly and other Maren use to speak is actually a mix of whistles, clicks, songs, and echoes. Their noises are vibrations moving through the water, not air like humans, making it similar to echolocation and whale songs.
* TheOutsideWorld: While the Leviathan Trench is one of the deepest parts of the Sea of a Thousand Currents, to Abyssal Maren like Gilly it's an outer world they cannot reach thanks to the difference in water pressure. Gilly is so amazed by everything from the discovered fossils to the new types of dragons that she nearly floats into a cave wall, which could've fatally cracked her pressure gear.

* MultipleHeadCase: They have two heads just like all other Aberration dragonsm, and much like the rest of their kind, while the heads may bicker, they still know how to work together well enough to battle other dragons without much issue.

Tomo is a scholarly blue Snapper who has traveled from the Shattered Plains to the Ashfall Waste, and though she has learned many things, she is incredibly forgetful. She runs a daily game wherein she asks players questions to help jog her memory, and rewards treasure for correct answers. Scribbles, her Fae assistant, is tasked with recording the information (but constantly slacks off).

* AsskickingEqualsAuthority: Their leaders are, quite simply, whoever's the strongest.

* FinalSolution: Attempted. At some point in the past, multiple Gaolers (a Sentry-Warden and several mages) decided that the best way to win the war with Banescales was to kill them all. Mind you, this war took place [[https://www1.flightrising.com/forums/ann/2788016 when Ice was expanding]], and the World Map states that their realm once covered half the planet before shrinking in size. While arguably done out of self-defense to avoid their own extermination from an enemy that may not accept surrender, it was still done as a permanent solution since some Gaolers were sent out after the battle to make sure all Banescales were gone. It's unknown how modern-day Gaolers feel about this act, though it's clear they do hold the capability of guilt and remorse since an entire team of Gaolers hid away the final Banescale eggs instead of destroying them.

* DragonsAreDemonic: They used to be this trope more than other dragon breeds. The original Banescales were such fearsome warriors that the Gaolers feared they could completely conquer Sornieth, especially since they were able to completely cover a battlefield in lava. Combine these abilities with their native Fire element, volcanic homeland, and their devil-like horns, they’re definitely one of the most hell-themed dragons on Sornieth.

* DittoFighter: It's difficult for Nocturnes to not copy their opponent's strategies, due to their nature of mimicry. This often leads to the Nocturne [[WhatAnIdiot doing something pretty stupid]].

* BackstoryHorror: Exactly how Sornieth ended up with an Emperor dragon has spurred many questions from players about Luminax’s origins. The World Map’s answer? The abomination was caused by carelessly leaving a bunch of dead Imperial dragons unburied. Given how the many wars with Beastclans and dragons didn’t manage to create a single Emperor, what changed? Theories range from the planet’s excess magical energy causing it, the new underground entity, one of the mysterious dragon organizations mentioned across ''Bounty of the Elements'' like Ebonhide’s or Yugona’s associates, etc.

* BreathWeapon: Each head is able to spout gusts of wind, light, and fire based on the element of the Imperial associated with it.

* MultipleHeadCase: Luminax is currently the only modern breed dragon that sports multiple heads. Beyond that, having three heads is a surprisingly small amount compared to the usual 4-11 head count.

* AntiFrustrationFeatures: Intended to act as this for the release of new items, since players with faster connections and patience tend to dominate the Marketplace for the first few weeks after an item's release. He was also intended to act as an anti-frustration feature for natural eye types (that is, eyes available through breeding) by giving out a few exclusive-to-him vials for use on older dragons, but after [[Administrivia/RuleOfCautiousEditingJudgement widespread player feedback]] his role in this was downplayed to just providing a copy or two of new natural eye types that are otherwise available in the Marketplace.

* NativeGuide: While an anthropomorphic llama, Tippa essentially serves the same role since she is a member of the local Longneck clans of the region, her people know how to navigate the dangerous snowy Cloudscrape Crags better than the protagonists, and they work together to cross the mountain range despite the minimal understanding of each other's languages. Whether or not she's a person to be trusted because of the awful war between dragons and Beastclans is actually briefly discussed between Wemba and Trendal, though thankfully she is a peaceful guide.

!!Higgens

* AntiFrustrationFeatures: Instead of having to wait hours for the right Strange Chest trade to stock, or the Night of the Nocturne item you want to appear in the Marketplace, Higgens offers all those items at all hours in unlimited quanities in his shop.

* OddNameOut: Joxar is the only NPC whose name isn’t alliterative with the site function he runs.

The leader of the Beastclan uprising. Not much is known about her beyond being the leader of a united force of Beastclans that are operating to wipe out dragonkind to reclaim their old territory and livelihood back from dragons.

* AmbiguousSituation: It's currently unknown if Talona is a WellIntentionedExtremist who wants to wipe out dragons so Beastclans can live in peace or if she was just someone who got corrupted by The Shade. Regardless, she's very much an antagonistic force for all dragons because of her influence over the uprising.
* TheGhost: There has been only scarce mentions of Talona across the entire website despite her prominence in leading the Beastclans against the dragons.
* HarpingOnAboutHarpies: Talona is a harpy, and if the giant harpy pictured in the ''Beastclans on the Rise!'' [[https://youtu.be/YU-RMSnpwWY?t=99 youtube video]] is to represent her, she appears as a masked half-bird half-woman creature.

!!Wemba
An ice Skydancer travelling with Trendal to break Magnu out of prison. Unfortunately, they get caught sneaking around during a snowstorm and they get trapped in Dripcave Dregs by some Gaolers.

* BigBrotherInstinct: Gender-inverted. Wemba is protective and caring towards Trendal, and tries to protect his unconscious body when they're captured by Gaoler dragons.
* CunningLinguist: Subverted. She's very bad at speaking whatever language Tippa uses, but it's good enough to get the point across in most situations. When she asks "the thing of Talona" to check if Tippa is part of the anti-dragon Beastclan alliance, Tippa takes a long moment to ponder before shrugging it off.
* OhCrap: Shares this reaction with Trendal when three large beasts come out in the middle of a blizzard and one of them stops right on top of them. [[spoiler: Turns out they were actually Gaolers.]]

!!Trendal
An ice Tundra dragon searching for Magnu deep within the Southern Icefield. Unfortunately, they get caught and corralled into Dripcave Dregs by the Gaolers.

* ForgetfulJones: Subverted. He does have a bad memory like most Tundra dragons since he forgets who Magnu is during their search for him, though Wemba notes that the memory loss is from stress rather than being away from him for too long.
* TheNoseKnows: When they get caught in a blinding blizzard, he tries to follow Magnu’s scent to find him instead of relying on sight.
* OhCrap: Shares this reaction with Wemba when a beast comes out of nowhere, in the middle of a blizzard, and stops right on top of them to breathe down their backs.

!!Tippa
The Longneck guide who accompanies Wemba and Trendal for a short time before splitting after they traverse the Cloudscape Crags. Despite the tensions between Beastclans and dragons, she and her clan seem isolated enough to be unaware of the worldwide war going on.

* LanguageBarrier: As a Longneck, communication is difficult between her and her dragon companions. Even the contract she wrote for them to sign is noted to be "crude", as if even she has as much trouble speaking and writing Draconic as much as they do with her language.

The mysterious friend of Wemba and Trendal. Before the story's events, he got himself captured and imprisoned by the wardens of Dripcave Dregs, and his friends try to break him out.

* CryoPrison: He was briefly imprisoned in the Dripcave Dregs, an ancillary ward of the equally-cold Fortress of the Ends, where prisoners can be frozen alive. However, it's unclear if he was actually frozen before he escaped.
* TheGhost: Despite his impact on escaping the Gaolers before his friends can save him, he's never seen once within the story.
* StickyFingers: It's stated that Magnu has these, implying that he is either a common thief or a Ridgeback, a breed known "borrowing" things without permission, but the mention of him actively seeking valuables indicates the former (or both). Regardless, it caught up to him and led to his imprisonment.
