The son of Sigurd, and TheHero of the second part. A shy but strongwilled boy with great swordfighting abilities and a gentle heart, he's now the hope of hundreds of people who see him as the one who can end the tyranny of Grannvale.

* BewareTheNiceOnes: If he gets to face Manfroy, is he ''pissed off''. The Nea Fuyuki manga has him react badly in general any time an innocent or someone he cares about is killed/nearly killed.

* TakingTheBullet: In the Nea Fuyuki manga, she's prepared to do this for Julia. Luckily for both parties involved, hurting Lana happens to be a BerserkButton of Seliph, who's nearby.

* BerserkButton: He has a huge one in the Oosawa manga: [[spoiler:demeaning the House of Neir's HeroicLineage. In this manga, he is the son of Lex and Ayra: he hates his EvilUncle Danan [[HateSink like everyone else does]], but he deeply loves his DisappearedDad and respects the Neir line as a whole. So when his cousins Iucharba and Iuchar are unfairly mistreated as prisoners of war ''and'' one of the group's allies insults the Neirs, Ulster goes into a TranquilFury state, and later he goes ItsPersonal on Danann for how much he's tarnished the Neir family ''on top'' of what he did to his parents and almost did to his twin sister.]]

[[spoiler:Unfortunately, in the Oosawa manga, Lana all but states that Creidne was raped before the Dozelian troops executed her. She also adds that every girl associated with LaResistance is liable to have this happen to her.]]

* MyGreatestFailure: In the Oosawa manga, he has ''never'' been able to forgive himself for [[spoiler:the loss of his younger sister.]] Then it turns out to be worse: [[spoiler:he has a FaceHeelTurn since he blames Seliph and Co. for it, which causes him to reveal Seliph's location and to a whole village near Edain's abbey to be slaughtered.]]

* RecurringElement: Mirrors [[VideoGame/FireEmblemShadowDragonAndTheBladeOfLight Lorenz]] as the enemy general who can join your side after jumping through a few hoops.

* BewareTheNiceOnes: If he gets to face Manfroy, is he ''pissed off''. The Nea Fuyuki manga has him react badly in general anytime an innocent or someone he cares out is killed/nearly killed.

* CowardlyLion: He may be the leader of the rebellion, but underneath that he's timid and even wishes to just run and hide from the war, (see his conversation with Muirne) however he still soldiers on and never stops fighting for his cause.

* DeconReconSwitch: His story in a nutshell. Sigurd's story deconstructs the usual Fire Emblem standards of "gather army, battle across continent." Seliph then gathers an army and battles across the continent, but he does it right.

* IJustWantToBeBadass: ... and not someone that everyone else feels the need to protect.

* MageKiller: Once he gets [[InfinityPlusOneSword the Tyrfing]] he picks up a solid magic defence buff while wielding it. Having minor Naga blood also gives him a nice 20% boost to his resistance growth.

* OlderThanTheyLook: He's eighteen at the start of his journey but looks considerably younger due to the art style.

* WarriorPrince: In a sense. While nobility, the constant conflict since his birth means that he's never even set foot in the very region he's meant to rule, and his title is mostly just that--a title--until he finally manages to liberate Grannvale.

* YouAreNotAlone: Leif beats this into him (somewhat literally--they were sparring) in the Nea Fuyuki manga, fed up with Seliph's "I'm responsible for everyone's lives" attitude.

* OvershadowedByAwesome: He has good skillsets, good growth (comparable to Sigurd), a horse, and remain relatively useful throughout the game. However, for low levels, it's not like you actually need his help to keep Seliph's team alive thanks to how powerful the children are, and as far as late game stats goes, he is overshadowed by almost everyone in the team.

* BadassAdorable: Very cute, and, should you give her Nosferatu, almost unkillable... [[spoiler:the Book of Naga makes her a GameBreaker.]]

* BoringButPractical: Master Knight Leif is unable to equip a Holy Weapon, in exchange of being able to equip almost every weapon in the game (A Rank in every weapon other than Light (C Rank) and Darkness Tomes). However, for the most part, Leif is one of the best ''staff'' users, especially Rescue Staves, which is really useful when combined with his high movement as a mounted unit and his amazing combat capability.

* LastOfHisKind: Initially believed to be the only surviving member of Leonster's royal family--until [[ThereIsAnother Altena shows up]], at least.

* BodyDouble: He has a looklike in Chapter 9 when entering a village with Jeanne or Hermina. Considering that a man named Shannam in Thracia 776 is under his request as his double, it is strongly implied to be him.
* BrokenAce: Aside from his FailureKnight issues, this is implied towards the end of the game, where in a conversation Seliph credits all of his swordsmanship skills to him, to which he gives a somewhat lacklustre response and Seliph then comments on how tired he seems (which Shannan then deflects by joking that Seliph's calling him old).

* FailureKnight: Driven to be strong since he failed to [[spoiler:keep Deirdre from being kidnapped and then BrainwashedAndCrazy.]]

* ParentalAbandonment: His father was assassinated, and his mother is never mentioned but she's presumably dead as well, hence why he's in Ayra's custody.

* UnderestimatingBadassery: In the Nea Fuyuki manga, the Loptyr Cult members at Yied Shrine claim that he's no threat without Balmung--immediately before he proceeds to beat them up.

* BlackKnight: A more benevolent version than usual, but he still makes clear that he's not Seliph's friend. [[spoiler:He seems to warm up by the end of the game, particularly if he receives his father's letter from Nanna.]]

* AwesomeButImpractical: He's a prepromoted General with fairly high base stats, but much like Arden he really can't catch up with the team, so it's best to just have him defend the home castle.
* CoolOldGuy: While his exact age is unclear, he's definitely much older then everyone else, as evidenced by the wrinkles on his portrait and his huge BadassBeard.

* BoringButPractical: At worst, she'll turn out to be a slightly improved version of Edain and a reliable healer. Therefore most players focus on improving Lester (who is easy to screw up) when selecting fathers.

* CoolBigSis: To Julia. To the point that [[spoiler:Lana feels guilty if she hooks up with Seliph, believing that she's betraying Julia's love for him.]]

* ImpliedLoveInterest: Of the women Seliph can marry (discounting Julia, who's ability to marry Seliph was a glitch), Lana is this. She has the highest base love points with him and a conversation that will boost those points.

** Played up and for laughs in the Oosawa manga, where he does NOT take it well when it looks like Ulster and Lana are crushing on each other.
* BigDamnHeroes: His introduction in the Oosawa manga, where he rescues Edain and Lana when [[spoiler:the abbey and it surroundings are near taken over.]]

* GenkiGirl: Shows some traits in the Oosawa manga, specially in her introduction. Though she can be more serious when the occasion calls for it, like when she and Lana recall [[spoiler:their CoolBigSis Creidne's HeroicSacrifice]] and when she [[spoiler:gives a TheReasonYouSuckSpeech to Dalvin for his FaceHeelTurn, with Ulster having to give her a CooldownHug.]]
