We see in the Fell Xenologue that Corrupted can be created even when a person's body has been destroyed. Also, among the situations where Bond Villain Stupidity does not apply, are cases where the villain leaves because they have to continue with their plan. That applies here, as Sombron's main concern was using the rings to open the portal and leave Elyos behind. He didn't particularly even care if Alear and company died or not. Indeed, him setting up the barrier and forces to guard the shards suggests he suspected the heroes would not stay down.

* BondVillainStupidity: Zigzaged at the end of Chapter 21. After Alear ends up dying from [[TakingTheBullet taking Sombron's energy attack to protect Veyle]] after Sombron declared her no longer having any value when she refused to give him the Emblem Rings, he doesn't follow through killing Veyle despite having the perfect opportunity to do so since there was nothing else stopping him from killing her. Even with the possibility of Veyle's evil split personality taking over again despite the helmet being cracked after gaining power, he doesn't think of destroying Alear's body completly to ensure they can never be revived, espcially since he would be aware of Veyle's necromancy abilities being superior to his own. And speaking of necromancy, he also never thinks of turning Alear into a mindless shambling Corrupted like Morion was after he was sacrificed to Sombron himself [[KickThemWhileTheyreDown to further damage the party's morale while they were down]].

Examples should be standalone.

** She's a big deconstruction of the characters who DesperatelyCravesAffection (See her entry below), but [[VideoGame/FireEmblemTheBlazingBlade Nino]] in particular. While characters of this type are generally protagonists, Marni shows how these types can actually be weaponised by ''ant''agonists.

** She also serves as a deconstruction to the [[ChildSoldiers Child Soldier]] - especially ones in Fire Emblem games. Many Fire Emblem games feature characters who are in their teens - Marni is ''sixteen'' - and actually acts rather childish. Teenagers are usually treated as surprisingly competent, yet Marni is shown to be a bit of a loose cannon with her immaturity.
