* WhiteHairBlackHeart: Downplayed. Between the three executive leaders of the Eorzean Alliance at the start of ''A Realm Reborn'', whire-haired Merlwyb is the most outwardly ruthless and militaristic of the trio consisting of the peace-loving Kan-E and the idealistic Nanamo. Merlwyb is willing to inflict torturous punishments on her enemies and even advocates for breaking someone's legs if they're wasting her time. But Merlwyb's ruthlessness is only a means of securing a better life for her people and she still dreams of an age where Limsa Lominsa will no longer need to plunder the spoils of others to survive.

[[folder:Rhoswen Leach]]

->''"Me crew embodies the true spirit o' piracy–freedom t' do whatever ye damn well please, and no one to answer for but your good self...and me, o' course."''

Once a beggar who fled her drunken letch of a father, Rhoswen is now the captain of the Sanguine Sirens, one of the most powerful pirate fleets in Limsa Lominsa. Fiery and cantankerous, she clings to the old ways unlike her closest rival Carvaillain de Gorgaine.
----
* CannotSpitItOut: Despite her hatred of men, she has a blatant crush on Carvaillain that everyone can see. Unfortunately, her rivalry with him and inability to spit it out means that Carvaillain believes she hates him and avoids crossing paths with her as much as possible.
* DarkAndTroubledPast: She grew up with an abusive, lecherous father who was often drunk, convincing her to run away from her home in western La Noscea after she turned fifteen. But she failed to find employment and languished as a beggar until she heard about the Sanguine Sirens, joining their crew and becoming just as bloodthirsty and violent as the rest of them.
* DoesNotLikeMen: Rhoswen is the captain of a nearly entirely female pirate crew and typically shows a strong distaste for men, likely due to growing up in a household with a lecherous, drunken father before running away on her fifteenth birthday. Even the Sirens' base of operations, the Missing Member, implies a [[GroinAttack certain kind of violence]] against any man who oversteps in her presence.
* InLoveWithYourCarnage: She's as violent as you'd expect a rowdy crew of pirates to be. At Hullbreaker Isle (Hard), she pits the Sirens against the Warrior of Light's party and calls the Warrior "an adventurer after me own heart" after the party defeats the Sirens present even under heavy cannon fire.
