* BlamingTheVictim: His attitude towards Eorzea's war with Garlemald is ''disdain for choosing violence'', because of how many lives are lost in war. Never mind that Garlemald marched first and had every intention of conquering the whole of Hydaelyn [[spoiler:before Zenos caused it to collapse]], or that far ''more'' lives would be lost if Eorzea simply rolled over and let them conquer; he scorns Eorzea for choosing to fight back against an oppressive regime and the complete destruction of their culture, even if the Warrior of Light points out that the other option is to "wait for the axe to fall".

Added DiffLines:

* UndyingLoyalty: Kalika is completely loyal to his creator, the Speaker, a jewel that acts as the source of Aloalo Island's overflowing vitality. He is so determined to find help to save the Speaker and the island that he sails for days in a coconut through stormy seas. It's not until he reaches Thavnair that he falls unconscious even with his wings tattered enough to make him unable to fly.

[[quoteright:641:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ff14_kalika.png]]

An uolosapa native to Aloalo Island, Kalika sailed many days from the remote isle to the shores of Thavnair in search of a great hunter and hero. His unconscious form was found by Matsya, whom Kalika becomes convinced is the destined hero. Kalika introduces himself as the servant of the Speaker, the will of the island manifest, and asks Matsya to cut down the ravenous beasts that threaten to devastate Aloalo's ecosystem.

* CreatingLife: Rather than being an UpliftedAnimal, Kalika says that he was created by the Speaker to serve as its emissary to the people, awakening within the deepest shrine of Aloalo Island with the ability to speak.
* {{Determinator}}: Kalika sailed for several days in a ''coconut'' to reach the shores of Thavnair in order to find a hero who would save Aloalo Island.
* JerkassToOne: Kalika is outgoing and friendly to most people, but is inexplicably rude to Pasasun, Matsya's friend. The sparrow constantly disparages Pasasun for no reason even as the alchemist coos over him and tries to nurse Kalika back to health.
* OlderThanTheyLook: Kalika is an adorable little sparrow who recounts events like legends of a great rime that threatened to consume Aloalo Island, forcing its settlers to flee. This means Kalika is old enough that the Calamity of Ice was still in living memory, making him older than even Ancient Mhach and Amdapor.

!! Erenville
!!!Voiced by: Rikuya Yasuda (JP), Ari Oskarsson (EN), Grégory Laisné (FR), Michael Baral (DE)

[floatboxright: '''Race''': Rava Viera]
->''"Another day, another commission of paramount importance..."''

A gleaner for Sharlayan, Erenville acts as the voice of his profession in their interactions with the Forum and is also one of the few of Sharlayan who frequently go out to other city-states.
----
* AscendedExtra: He's introduced as a secondary character in ''Endwalker'' who explains the workings & goings-on of Sharlayan, having little to do with the much grander plot. Come ''Dawntrail'' and Erenville is featured prominently in the teaser trailer; his homecoming being a main impetus for the Scions' voyage towards the New World, Tural.
* BadassBookworm: Like most gleaners, his job is to go out in the world and gather specimens for relocation into Labirynthos, with Erenville in particular specializing in wildlife ([[spoiler: a fact that makes ascertaining that you and the twins were not, in fact, actual toads trivial for him]]). We're not made aware of any combat prowess he might possess, but he's got the bones to stand up to Forum members and demand better treatment, if nothing else, insisting that he and his fellows are scholars deserving of respect like any other Sharlayan academian.
* BenevolentBoss: Cares deeply for his fellow gleaners, even if they do take their complaints to him rather than the Forum, and threatens one member of the Forum with what would basically be a gleaner strike if the increasingly high demands of the Forum do not let up.
* HyperAwareness: Don't try to fool him with transmorgification magic to listen in on his conversations. [[spoiler: Also, while he writes off the shadowy aura of the elezen man stumbling around in Ishgard, he immediately gains a sense of something very terrible about to happen.]]
* LeaningOnTheFourthWall: His role in ''In Pursuit of Knowledge'' is effectively him realizing he is a bit character in a much more important story and deciding he wants to take a more active role in the future to become more of a protagonist.
* LockedOutOfTheLoop: When Erenville interacts with various characters, from Krile to Alpha, during [[spoiler:the labors to prepare the ark for space flight,]] he becomes painfully aware of how little he knows about the incredible events that have been unfolding in the world.
* MysteriousPast: Invoked. He's actually from the "New World" of Tural. It's clear by Erenville's accent that he's not from Sharlayan or Thavnair, but he doesn't say where exactly until introducing the Scions to Wuk Lamat. The reason Erenville didn't tell the Scions where he's from was because Erenville doesn't like telling ''anybody'' where he's from. Once people find out that he was born in Tural, they always bombard Erenville with questions about it, so Erenville just stopped saying where he's from to avoid having his ears talked off.

The ship itself can be found in the Peaks of Gyr Abania, where the ship settled when the waters subsided.
