* AttackAttackAttack: Viper's low base GCD and high amount of OGCD attack abilities even compared to other DPS Jobs lead to a playstyle where the Viper will hardly ever have a moment where it's NOT relentlessly attacking the enemy. Even its SuperMode awakening counts as an attack, as a blue shockwave will damage every surrounding enemy.

Added DiffLines:

* TechnicianVersusPerformer: The Performer to fellow Scouting Job Ninja's Technician - Ninja mixes in fast dagger strikes and magical Mudras that require precision to execute that makes it similiar to a melee-focused caster in execution, while the Viper's attack style is an absolutely relentless, near-endless barrage of chaotic-looking fast sword strikes.

* AttackAttackAttack: Of the chain mail DPS. While Reaper doesn't have ''zero'' utility, the utility they do have is relatively miniscule compared to Dragoon, consisting of only a 3% party damage buff on a long cooldown, and a party regen if their shield is broken. Both effectively serve as selfish buffs that just happen to splash benefit the party, being more served towards allowing the use of Plentiful Harvest, and a biproduct of shielding themselves from damage. Besides that, Reapers are all about slow, hard hitting attacks leading up to periods of rapidly doing massive damage.

* SkillGateCharacters: On paper, Samurai's [=PvP=] LimitBreak, "Zantetsuken", is the strongest in the game, with the potential to instantly wipe an entire enemy team in an instant. However, this function requires the targets to hit the Samurai while "Hissatsu: Chiten" is active to recieve the Kuzushi debuff that turns "Zantetsuken" into a OneHitKill. While newer and less-skilled players will frequently activate this prerequisite, experienced players will know how to play around this, making it highly unlikely that a Samurai will get more than one or two takedowns from a single Limit Break at best. That said, the threat of this attack is still extremely valuable in high-level play, as it instills an unwillingness to hit the Samurai if they haven't used "Hissatsu: Chiten" yet while "Zantetsuken" is ready.

** "Blood of the Dragon" wreathes the Dragoon in a blue aura which resembles Midgardsormr's scales. While active, it makes the Dragoon's "Jump" and "Spineshatter" Dive abilities more powerful, adds a fourth attack to their weaponskill combos, and lets them use "Geirskogul", a powerful line [=AoE=]. ''Stormblood'' upgrades it to "Life of the Dragon", which makes the aura [[TurnsRed turn red]] and converts "Geirskogul" into the more powerful (and more frequently usable) "Nastrond". Both Blood and Life also wreath the Dragoon in a more typical fire-like energy. As of ''Endwalker'', "Blood of the Dragon" has been removed, but the TurnsRed aspect remains.

* OneHitKill: The Samurai's [=PvP=] LimitBreak, Zantetsuken, can potentially kill an opponent in one hit. If the enemy was afflicted with the Kuzushi debuff from [[CounterAttack Hissatsu: Chiten]], using Zantetsuken will deal enough damage to instantly kill them.[[note]]That said, it's possible to survive the attack if you're at full health and protected by another form of shielding, such as a Scholar's "Adloquium".[[/note]] It's also a MythologyGag, since Zantetsuken is the name of eidolon Odin's signature attack, which is also a One-Hit Kill.

* AbsurdlySharpBlade: In the opening trailer for ''Stormblood'', the Warrior of Light is seemingly cornered by a group of Garlean officers before the Warrior rushes past them with an iaijutsu attack. This one move slices the bullets fired by the Garleans in half, shatters a nearby stone wall, and cuts cleanly through the Garleans' swords. After he sheathes his sword, a bunch of nearby stalls collapse and the tree ''behind'' the Warrior suffers a DiagonalCut.

Added DiffLines:

* UselessUsefulSpell: "Tsubame-gaeshi" is an invaluable source of additional damage for any Samurai. But the boost in damage is middling for "Higanbana" and overwrites the original's DamageOverTime effect rather than putting two debuffs on the target. This means that "Higanbana: Gaeshi" is never used in favor of its counterparts for "Tenka Goken" and "Midare Setsugekka".

* DifficultButAwesome: In contrast to its [=PvE=] kit being among the simplest to play, Reapers need a great deal of skill and dexterity to be used effectively in [=PvP=]. Unlike most other DPS jobs, Reaper's skills are mostly locked to the global cooldown and the telegraphed nature of "Death's Warrant" enables skilled players to simply no-sell any burst that's poorly timed by simply running away or popping Guard. In addition, Reaper is mainly a menace with their Limit Break and deals significantly less damage outside of it. But a skilled Reaper can put out tremendous burst damage to eliminate weaker targets while being deceptively difficult to take down.

* SecretArt: The Reapers were once shadowy protectors of the Garlean people who assassinated enemy authority figures to prevent them from coordinating invasions of the Garlean homeland. But the gruesome nature of the martial art meant that its practitioners are few in number and gathered in places where the walls of reality separating the world from the void are thin. Following [[spoiler:Rullus' failed assassination of Solus zos Galvus]], the order was largely disbanded and its members scattered to the winds. The only named reapers left by the events of ''Endwalker'' are Drusilla, Zenos, and the Warrior of Light, though an unnamed reaper attacks Thancred for being an outsider in the ''Endwalker'' side story, [[https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/10th_anniversary/tales_under_the_new_moon/sidestory_02/ "Bringer of Shadow, Bringer of Light"]].

* SupernaturalFearInducer: In [=PvP=], Reaper's Limit Break causes all nearby opponents to be inflicted with Hysteria, causing them to become uncontrollable and run away from the Reaper for a few seconds. This effect bypasses Guard, making it incredibly useful for opening up otherwise protected opponents to a beating, forcing them off objectives, or sending them running into hazards.
