** Once Gohan finally snaps, Cell's composure is slowly eroded until Gohan presses his BerserkButton and calls him boring, no longer seeing him as a threat. Once he vomits of 18, he ''completely loses his shit'', going into a full-on ClusterFBomb before reverting into his Semi-Perfect form and deciding to blow himself up along with the world.

** He is intimidated, then ''excited,'' then taken aback when Gohan cuts loose on him as a super-duper Saiyan, but [[spoiler:when Gohan finally kicks Android 18 back out of him, and all present ''including himself'' realize his "Perfect" form isn't going to last past that point, he roars desperate curses as he regresses to the old "Semi-Perfect" body.]]

** Then in Episode 60, it's shown the one he ''really'' hates is Gohan, due to the boy representing everything he despises: cowardice, kindness, and a dislike of fighting. When Cell finally manages to spark a rage in Gohan and push him to fight, Gohan thrashes Cell so badly that the Android goes into a blind fury, even leading him to spit out 18. This is the last straw and Cell thoroughly hates Gohan for taking away his perfection and trues to blow up the world to take away everything that was dear to him.

** He also spends the first part of his fight against Gohan trying to make him "snap" hard enough to actually be a threat to him, at least before his disgust with Gohan's pacifism takes over. He gets his wish when he steps on Android 16's head, killing him for good, and his shocked expression as Gohan turns Super Saiyan 2 shows he really had ''no'' idea what he was asking for.

And speaking of which, he actually ''defends'' him when Yamcha thought he had a ring out, and Tien [[KickTheDog snarking]] at him [[note]]although it should be pointed out that with that last one, he might have only defended Yamcha simply ''because'' the person insulting him was [[ArchEnemy Tien]][[/note]]

* MyFriendsAndZoidbreg: He was legitimately indignant of Goku's declaration that Gohan, out of all the Z warriors, would be fighting in his place, claiming that he wasn't "even on the list" (Even Yamcha was on the list. As partime entertainment, granted..). Then in episode 60, we find out why: Cell is utterly ''disgusted'' by the boy's pacifism in the face of danger in contrast to his friends and family's HeroicResolve.

When Goku appears to be ready to destroy the Earth to kill him, Cell embracing the notion of dying along with Goku if the entire planet is destroyed.
