replace. This was a deliberate choice so that they would meet Creator/Karen Gillen at eye level, just as the Time War Daleks did for Creator/BilliePiper... Except, unlike Rose, Amy never shared any individual scenes with the Paradigm Daleks, rendering the height boost pointless.
* EvilIsVisceral: Perhaps the most disturbing aspect of their design is the fact that their eyestalks appear to have organic pupils, intentionally making them appear more "horrid" than their predecessors. The connotation that these Daleks have more cybernetic modifications integrating them into their shells is reminiscent of the Imperial Daleks.
* FantasticRacism: Even more so than regular Daleks: they exterminate the last of the Davros-derived Daleks for being genetically impure, despite their them basically being identical outwith without the casings.

* LargeAndInCharge: After they were initially poorly received, Moffatt re-envisioned them as the officer class to the bronze Time War Daleks, being considerably taller and bulker.

bulkier. Initially, they also had a prominent "hunchback" shape, with the rear of their casings supposedly holding additional weapons they could swap out. We never got to see what weapons were hidden in these compartments.

* TheRemnant: The Supreme Dalek present at the opening of the Pandorica miraculously survived thousands of years after the destruction of the universe (minus Earth) in the form of a stone statue, an echo from the previous timeline. When it comes alive, it has low energy reserves, but it can still exterminate anything in its path.
* {{Retraux}}: Their bold technicolor casings were directly inspired by the old Creator/PeterCushing [[Film/DrWhoAndTheDaleks Dr. Who movies]], though the idea of colours denoting rank in the Dalek hierarchy can be seen across old comic book appearances and the Classic era.
* SmallRoleBigImpact: While their direct role in the series was cut short, they were still responsible for rebuilding the Dalek Empire offscreen, restoring the Daleks' former place as a permanent part of the Doctor Who universe's status quo.
* UltimateLifeForm: Somehow, they possess even more "pure Dalek DNA" than the Ironside Daleks that were made from Kaled cells from their own creator Davros. They consolidate their genetic superiority by mercilessly exterminating their predecessors.

* ApeShallNeverKillApe: For the first decade plus of the show, Daleks did not kill one another, presenting a united front in deliberate contrast to human beings whose petty jealousies and resentment the Daleks could prey on and manipulate until they were strong enough to do what Daleks do best and make with the exterminating. It's still ''broadly'' true in modern times... with the important caveat that Daleks [[NoTrueScotsman have extremely narrow and selective definitions of Dalek]].

* AmbiguousSituation: Spin-off material has been very contradictory on precisely what its rank is. The ''Mark III Travel Machine Combat Training Manual'' refers to it as an outpost commander that was deputising for the Supreme Dalek in its appearances. Both the ''Dalek Survival Guide'' and ''The Astounding Untold History'' identified it as a Supreme in its own right, with the latter establishing that it was part of the Supreme Council mentioned in ''Planet''. The less recent ''War of the Daleks'' posited that it wasn't an individual being at all, and that gold Daleks were an elite within the Dalek hierarchy, the smartest and most ruthless leaders outside the Dalek Prime itself.

* ColdBloodedTorture: In the novel ''[[Recap/NewSeriesAdventuresPrisonerOfTheDaleks Prisoner of the Daleks]]'', it is revealed that the Daleks adjust their death ray to the level required to kill their target... and then ''dial it down a notch'', so the victim suffers a moment of excruciating agony before they die. It's a frightening glimpse into the Dalek psyche, that they are so furious with hatred at these creatures not being Daleks, that they decide that they should suffer in their deaths.
