* PottyEmergency: Prior to his Ascension, he ate with a then-mortal Winter Opera at a restaurant in Hindia during the second Age. Unfortunately, after eating some vegetable curry, he experienced stomach problems and had to rush to the bathroom. Fortunately, his Ascension made future incidents less likely to happen.

* CanadaEh: Averted. Despite being from Caneighda (the Second-Age Codexverse equivalent of UsefulNotes/{{Canada}}, Music/JeffHealey's birth country), he doesn't show any stereotypes relating to the country or its people, and is a pretty nice guy who has normal interests like music, collecting vintage records, and playing ''[[TabletopGame/DungeonsAndDragons Castles and Cavaliers]]'' (now succeeded by its in-universe SpiritualSuccessor, ''Ogres & Oubliettes'').

* ForWantOfANail: While he [[InSpiteOfANail still got afflicted with terminal cancer]] like Music/JeffHealey did, he was saved on his deathbed by a last-minute Ascension [[spoiler:thanks to a disguised Luminiferous providing the "Spark" needed to do so]], restoring his youth and vitality.

* SurprisinglyRealisticOutcome: While he started out as a musician in his youth, he slowly gravitated to his other passion, teaching, and, like Tempo Groove, ultimately chose to work as a teacher despite stil liking music. This is similar to how people in real life develop different interests and hobbies over time.

* MakeMeWannaShout: As a god of Music, he can unleash powerful, disorienting screams. He has done this to his enemies on occasion when the situation required it. He later lost this ability when he lost his Music domain.
* MakeSomeNoise: Like Blue Suede, as a god of Music, he can wield sound magic, giving him abilities like [[PerceptionFilter sound nullification]], ForcedSleep, and [[MakeMeWannaShout unleash powerful sonic screams]]. Initially, due to being a MartialPacifist at the time, he only used sound magic for supportive purposes, but he later lost it when he exchanged his Music domain for other domains better suited for teaching.

** He also thought Steel String's posthumous InUniverse depiction as [[MemeticBadass a straight-faced, badass martial artist with godlike supernatural abilities]] was highly amusing. When he told Steel String about it in the Fourth Age, the latter responded by [[FaintInShock fainting]].

Personality-wise, Healing Song is much like his teacher, being kind, humble, and friendly to almost everyone around him. Despite being blind, Healing Song never lets himself become embittered for it, and counters this with a cheerful and good-humored outlook. Throughout his music career, he has made sure that his bandmates received public recognition for his own talents, and he would later become a mentor for aspiring musicians after discovering his own love for teaching under Blue's tutelage. This has earned Healing Song many close friends, both mortal and divine. However, Healing Song is not to be trifled with -- while he hates people who demean disabled individuals, he also hates people who develop the mindset that disabled people are automatically lazy and helpless unless they push themselves to do great things. If someone insults him, he'll become quite sarcastic in response.\\\

And being a teacher himself, Healing Song is also angered by teachers who abuse their positions to hurt others, such as Noble Grace, Bubbling Beaker, and Trench Bull. He was devastated when he learned he (and other Ascendant deities) unwittingly gave Bubbling Beaker inspiration to perform horrific experiments on foals to unlock the secrets of Ascension, though fortunately he had friends to help him recover.\\\

Much like War Rock before him, Healing Song became scared of dying, though his reasons are completely different. He worried about not being able to do the things he wanted to do, and he was concerned with how people would see him post-mortem. However, Healing Song was humble and trusting enough to seek out his friends, who helped him overcome his fears and teach him that death is nothing to be afraid of. This ultimately saved him from becoming another War Rock, as by accepting his own mortality, Healing Song would end up gaining the very thing War Rock desired most: Divine immortality. Many who knew War Rock refer to Healing Song as "everything War Rock SHOULD have been", and for good reason. Due to the unique circumstances of his Ascension, he sometimes jokes that he might become a "super deity" when he dies.\\\

As an Alicorn god from the Second Age, Healing Song is ancient and incredibly powerful, which is helped by his status as a "prodigy deity". Like Blue, he holds extreme mastery over music and sound magic, though most of his powers are psychic in nature. His Potential domain gives him precognitive powers that show him visions of what people could potentially become, and his Teaching domain gives him a psychic intuition that allows him to teach his students according to their learning styles/development. He can also wield psychic powers in general, though he is dwarfed by by Golden Scepter, who is much older and more powerful, and Prince Crimson Star, who is a psychic prodigy despite his demigod status. Healing Song is also a music prodigy with a great auditory memory. But despite his power, Healing Song is pacifistic and chooses to chooses to serve a supporting role in combat unless warranted; when forced to fight, he tries to end things quickly and decisively. His pacifism has interfered with his fighting ability, though, something that his friends are helping him overcome.\\\

** During the 'Cosmic Prophet Debacle', he would transform into an eldritch god thanks to being in close proximity to [[EldritchAbomination Caelum Filum]] for a month. While not as drastic compared to Moon Ray's, the experience changed his portfolio, getting rid of his Music domain entirely, adding new ones, and merging his Psionics domain with his affinity for [[LightEmUp light magic]] to create a new Light domain.
* TheAce: Like his mentor, [[Music/ElvisPresley Blue Suede Heartstrings]], he is a musical prodigy. Despite losing his sight to retinoblastoma during infancy, Healing Song picked up the guitar and adapted to it by positioning it flat on his lap and playing it like a piano when he was only ''three years old''. Throughout his music career, he had played with both single-necked and double-necked guitars with equal amount of skill (hence his double-necked guitar Cutie Mark), though according to Healing Song, he learned to play the trumpet at one point, [[SurprisinglyRealisticOutcome but has since gotten rusty due to playing the guitar more often]]. Healing Song is also an accomplished songwriter, being able to write his own songs with Braille during the Second Age, and he has a great auditory memory that allows him to remember anything he hears for a long time, including songs that came out in his day. He was also able to adapt to the change when he decided to move away from blues music, which he worked with for much of his career, to jazz music. His status as a prodigy would factor into his growth rates as a deity once he Ascended, as his physical and magical development would be accelerated at abnormal rates compared to "normal" deities.
* AchillesHeel: For all his divinity, experience, and power, he is still blind. Because of his disability, he has to rely on both his natural senses and his magic to get around, which makes him vulnerable to things like people with AntiMagic (like Prince Fanged Paw) and sound-muffling spells. Even after becoming an eldritch Alicorn, he still has this weakness, and though he now has [[LightEmUp light powers]] to help him 'see', they can be countered by [[CastingAShadow darkness magic]]. It's noted that War Rock ruthlessly exploited his blindness in order to torment and psychologically break him, with devastating consequences.

** When he heard his fans [[ShipperOnDeck interpreted him and Steel String as lovers]], he just took it in stride and laughed, before taking the time to clear things up.

* AfraidOfTheirOwnStrength: Deconstructed. His PTSD from being abused/raped by War Rock, combined with seeing other people abuse their own power and adopting the toxic mindsets of those around him, made him fearful of becoming just as bad, motivating him to become a MartialPacifist. Unfortunately, his pacifism ends up backfiring as he repressed his own power to ensure he stays "good", making his appearance change to reflect his severe psychological instability. He nearly dies fighting a powerful enemy because he wasn't using his power offensively, and he breaks down when his friends confront him over it. Then he gets [[SmellySkunk skunked]] by Nittunak, who [[WhatTheHellHero chews him out]] for making a mockery of real pacifists who still try to protect themselves and others out of compassion despite refusing to kill. The skunking forces him to realize his mistake, and with help from his friends, he works on learning how to use his power offensively so he can reconcile his desire to help others with the necessity to kill. He finally does so when he confronts War Rock during the 'Dark Age Crisis', and played a role in his ArchEnemy's final defeat and death. Following the 'Cosmic Prophet Debacle', he becomes an eldritch Alicorn, and while he loses two domains in the process, he gains three more, and has become more comfortable with using his power even for offensive purposes.

* ArchEnemy: War Rock is this for him, as War Rock is directly responsible for much of his psychological trauma. However, it's deconstructed as this resulted in him holding a grudge and refusing to forgive War Rock, which contributed to his psychological instability and, eventually, his physical deterioration. Moon Ray helps him forgive War Rock not only so he could heal himself mentally and physically, but also to deny War Rock of any power/influence he might hold over him post-mortem. Defying War Rock solely to protect everyone else from being hurt was what allowed him to unleash his full power and complete his recovery.

* CruelToBeKind: He brought in the [[TheFairFolk Fae Skunk]] god Nittunak to help Celestia, as she stubbornly refused to see herself as anything ''but'' irredeemable and/or expendable out of guilt for her sins. It worked, as [[SmellySkunk being left horribly stinky for weeks]] forced Celestia to [[MyGodWhatHaveIDone realize]] that her attempts to atone made her insensitive to the needs and feelings of those around her, and pushed her to actually do better. This eventually paved the way for them falling in love and getting HappilyMarried.

* DarkAndTroubledPast: He lost his sight as a baby when he got infected with retinoblastoma, necessitating his eyes' removal. While he accepted his blindness, growing up in the Second Age where physical and mental weaknesses were treated with contempt led to him becoming a DeadpanSnarker with a DontYouDarePityMe attitude. Then he lost a close friend, Moon Ray Vaughoof, in a helicopter accident, and a disastrous first meeting with War Rock created a series of events that culminated in War Rock kidnapping and raping him. This deeply traumatized him, and because people were [[NoSympathy contemptuous towards male rape victims]] at the time, he kept his traumas to himself for three Ages. Even though he had friends who genuinely understood and wanted to help him, for a long time he couldn't bring himself to open up to them because of his fears of being bullied for what he went through.
* DeadpanSnarker: Downplayed; this only comes up whenever someone insults his blindness or [[CondescendingCompassion treats him condescendingly]], as War Rock learned in their first meeting -- when War Rock treats him like an invalid for being blind, he snarks that he can't let the former "help" him because he's being too loud. It's deconstructed as this later gets him abused, gaslit, and ultimately kidnapped and raped by War Rock looking to soothe his own damaged ego. The intense trauma from the incident, combined with the Second Age's toxic perceptions of "weaknesses", caused him to gradually use snarking as a defense mechanism, pushing his understanding friends away and leaving them helpless when he nearly dies against a powerful foe. After being skunked by Nittunak, he comes to realize he had become a toxic person and starts doing this less in his efforts to become better. However, while he has accepted he does need help at times, he still has a tendency to revert to this whenever he's offended.
* DeathSeeker: A gradual example. It started when, instead of dying of cancer and [[TogetherInDeath reuniting with Moon Ray in the Heaven-Realms]], he unexpectedly Ascends to demi-godhood, restoring him back to health. Then over three Ages, the burdens of immortality would gradually weigh him down; when he learns of [[MadScientist Professor Bubbling Beaker]]'s crimes, he wishes he died instead out of guilt for the lives that were taken because of him. It fully manifests after his near-death experience, his breakdown, and Nittunak's skunking, the TraumaCongaLine leaving him depressed to the point where he genuinely wanted to die. Fortunately, Moon Ray successfully convinces him to live instead as he has many opportunities to learn and become better.

While he does acknowledge he needs help at times, the attitudes, combined with his trauma from being tormented and raped by War Rock, turned him into a DeadpanSnarker who snarked at anyone he thinks is patronizing him. It's deconstructed as he developed fear of being ridiculed and pride in being able to do things by himself as a result of of his experiences, causing him to push away anyone who genuinely tried to help him... including his own friends, who were forced to resort to hoping he'd approach them for help instead even as they watched his mental and physical health worsen over time. This comes to a head when he nearly dies in a fight against a powerful enemy, and the emotional fallout from the event forces him to realize that he became a toxic person whose beliefs hurt both himself and everyone around him. He resolves to actually do better and starts overcoming his trauma, which not only helps him heal even physically, but also [[TookALevelInBadass turns him into an even more powerful god]].
* DoubleStandardRapeMaleOnMale: Horribly deconstructed. Being kidnapped and raped by a vampiric War Rock during a moment of vulnerability left him ''deeply'' traumatized, even after [[DeityOfHumanOrigin becoming a god]]. The Second Age's [[NoSympathy toxic attitudes]] towards [[DisabledMeansHelpless disabled people]] and male rape victims such as himself made his situation worse by making him fear that he'll be ridiculed if he talked about it, even to his supportive and understanding friends. Eventually, his fears literally weakened him, transforming him into a sickly, emaciated god to reflect his severe psychological instability. Fortunately, being [[SmellySkunk skunked]] by [[TheFairFolk Nittunak]] makes him realize he wasn't doing himself or those around him any favors, and with help from [[GodOfTheDead Moon Ray Vaughoof]] and others, he gradually overcomes his trauma and [[{{Forgiveness}} forgives War Rock]] in order to heal. Also, when a group of [[JerkassGods self-righteous deities]] ''did'' demean him for being a victim of rape, they attracted [[PapaWolf a furious Moon Ray Vaughoof]] who [[SirSwearsALot screamed profanities at them]] for their behavior.

* GoodCounterpart: He's one to [[RottenRockAndRoll War Rock]], a fellow musician. War Rock is a sociopathic {{Narcissist}} who desired to [[AttentionWhore be the center of attention]], ruined many lives to get what he wanted, and refused to learn from his mistakes, while Healing Song is a HumbleHero who didn't care about his fame, made sure others were acknowledged for their talents, and pushed himself to do better after being [[WhatTheHellHero called out on his own mistakes]]. War Rock [[MortalityPhobia feared death]] and tried becoming immortal through wicked means like [[DealWithTheDevil making deals with an Archdemon]] and turning himself into a Vampire, while Healing Song accepted his own mortality thanks to [[GodOfTheDead Bossa Nova]] and ended up becoming immortal when he least expected it. Their turning points involved [[Music/ElvisPresley Blue Suede Heartstrings]], except War Rock's [[StartOfDarkness road to villainy]] started with Blue Suede, while Healing Song befriended Blue Suede after getting to know him, flaws and all. And while War Rock can see yet had a LackOfEmpathy for anyone but himself, Healing Song is blind yet had empathy for even disabled people like himself. Fittingly, Healing Song played a role in War Rock's second defeat and death during the 'Dark Age Crisis', and many musicians of the Second Age have stated that Healing Song is "everything War Rock SHOULD have been".

* GuiltComplex: Being [[SmellySkunk skunked]] by [[CruelToBeKind Nittunak]] caused him to develop a guilt complex over how much he screwed up, which made him feel that he deserved to have bad things happen to him.

* HandicappedBadass: He became blind during infancy after his eyes were removed to prevent the spreading of retinoblastoma, but that didn't stop him from becoming a musical prodigy and, later, an [[PhysicalGod Alicorn god]]. He hates the InspirationallyDisadvantaged mindset because it implies that a disabled person is lazy and helpless if they don't push themselves. It's deconstructed -- for all his strengths, he's still blind, which [[ArchEnemy War Rock]] ruthlessly exploited to psychologically break him in his mortal youth. His second entry also notes he played a role in War Rock's second defeat and death.

* CloserToEarth: His first entry notes that he's very popular among his mortal students/followers in Kerajaan Cahaya because he's so approachable and down-to-earth. By his second entry, he has developed signs of a BlueAndOrangeMorality due to becoming an [[AnimalisticAbomination eldritch Alicorn]], but has mostly stayed the same in terms of personality.

It's later subverted in that Healing Song gained some trauma from the experience and feared becoming like War Rock if he used his divine power to attack people instead of helping them, but thankfully his friends would help him recover from it.

* TheReasonYouSuckSpeech: He would [[NervesOfSteel calmly]] give War Rock a ''scathing'' dressing-down after the latter tried pulling a RevengeByProxy on him to hurt Blue Suede Heartstrings, exposing War Rock as a petty and entitled bully who is really nothing without the attention he craves. This distracted War Rock long enough for Blue Suede to [[BigDamnHeroes arrive and drive him away]].

Unlike his first staff, which was a very ordinary SimpleStaff made of divine wood, Medela Lux was created by Princess Twilight/Amicitia and Princess Magicum Ponyland to match his preferences for healing/support while additionally giving him a few offensive options. It's described as a staff made of ornately-carved wood, rumored InUniverse to have come from the branch of a divine hardwood tree that was crossbred by Prince Stækka, and inlaid with divinely-enchanted gold to give it the appearance of coursing with liquid golden energy. At the top is its [[PowerCrystal focusing crystal]], an Imperial Topaz gemstone that enhances healing and protection-based spells, while the bottom is a thick, rounded club that can be used for [[CarryABigStick bludgeoning]] in a pinch. Medela Lux also amplifies his PsychicPowers and gives him psionic LightEmUp powers. Its magical core is noted to contain hair cut from his own mane, making Medela Lux "loyal" to him specifically.

* DeityOfHumanOrigin: He was born a mortal Earth pony who, despite being blinded in his infancy, managed to become a famous and talented musician. He initially [[MortalityPhobia feared dying]] as War Rock did, but after confessing his fears to his friends, he would get help from Bossa Nova Heartstrings, who taught him that Death is really nothing to worry about and the only thing that truly matters is how you lived, not now long you lived. He accepted his mortality and was fully prepared to die in the hospital, surrounded by his loved ones, when against all odds, he managed to Ascend to godhood, saving his life. [[spoiler:It's speculated InUniverse that a disguised Luminiferous had a hand in his Ascension]].

* RapeAsBackstory: In his mortal years, he was kidnapped and raped by War Rock himself while investigating with a group of friends the high body count created by the latter's rampage. The sheer trauma of the incident, combined with prior abuse and gaslighting inflicted by War Rock and the Second Age's [[NoSympathy unsympathetic attitudes]] towards "weaknesses" (including [[DoubleStandardRapeMaleOnMale male rape victims]]), gradually influenced him to develop a DontYouDarePityMe attitude that caused him to push away anyone who genuinely tried to help him.

* SoleSurvivor: After he Ascended to godhood, his divine immortality ensured that he would end up outliving his own bandmates, including bassist Steel String and drummer Tempo Groove of the Healing String Groove Band, turning him into the sole survivor of the many bands he co-founded with them. Understandably, this left him devastated due to being close friends with them. Fortunately, his divine friends like Blue Suede, Bossa Nova, and the Virtusidae would help him cope with his grief. He would also reunite with Tempo Groove and Steel String in the Fourth Age following the latter two's transformation into Angels.

* ArchEnemy: War Rock is this for him, as War Rock is directly responsible for much of his psychological trauma. * MortalityPhobia: He suffered from one as a mortal. Despite his good life, successes, and plans, Healing Song initially feared dying because [[AdultFear he worried over not being able to do everything he wanted to do or how he would be seen by others post-mortem]]. After trying to keep his fears a secret, he eventually caved and confessed his fears to his mentor, Blue Suede Heartstrings. This led to Blue introducing Healing Song to his older twin brother, [[DontFearTheReaper Bossa Nova Heartstrings]], who taught Healing Song that [[DarkIsNotEvil Death is really nothing to be afraid about]], and what truly mattered is how he lived his life, not how long he lived. It's noted that this saved Healing Song from becoming like War Rock, since he was humble and trusting enough to seek help from his friends rather than selfishly becoming an ImmortalitySeeker. Coincidentally, Healing Song's acceptance of his led to a rather unexpected KarmicJackpot where he Ascended to godhood on his deathbed for his good deeds, instead of dying from cancer as he expected to.

This ends up being discussed after his friend, [[DontFearTheReaper Moon Ray Vaughoof]], joined and chose to play as a [[{{Necromancy}} necromancer]].

* HandicappedBadass: He became blind as a baby after his eyes were removed to prevent the spreading of retinoblastoma. He's also a music prodigy and an Alicorn god with incredible power, allowing him to [[DisabilitySuperpower make up for his blindness]] and kick lots of ass. That being said, he's still limited by his blindness, and his MartialPacifist beliefs has kept him from fighting effectively at times... which he eventually overcame by dealing with his fear of becoming like War Rock and forgiving the latter. On the flipside, he hates the InspirationallyDisadvantaged mentality because it promotes the idea that a disabled person is lazy and unable to look after themselves if they don't become a HandicappedBadass.
